"well its true," she said. "so how come you didn't have anyone working with you?" she asked.

"I wanted to stay behind and up my quota for the day"

"oh i see," she said.

"So what were you out watching for?"

"nothing really. just on patrol and i got bored so i decided to explore," she said.

"You should be careful. Aside from the cold, this planet has some real monsters on it"

"i know. i can fight them in my sleep though," she said with a joking smile.

"Right, even the frost spiders?" Shaun said sacasticly.

"easy," she siad.

"And what about the Gamma? That thing is a salamander that is easly 50 feet long"

"i little harder but i have killed one," she said.

"Yeah right" Shaun said with a laugh.

"you don't believe me," she asked then pulled out a piece of its skin.

Shaun examined it. "Well I'll be. You are a tough one"

"yup," she said with a smile.

Shaun locked eyes with Kaci.

"do you need anything?" she asked.

"No, I just...You're very pretty"

She blushed. "Thanks," she said.

Shaun gave Kaci a quick kiss on the cheek.

Kaci swore she turned bright red. That surprised her a bunch.

"Sorry, I don't know what came over me"

"its fine," she said.

"But you did blush" Shaun said with a smile.

"Damn..." There Sam stood at the pile of wood, a large ice beast sitting on an overlooking mountain cliff. It seemed to have spotted him, letting out a great roar. Sam dropped the fire wood in his arms and made a run for cover as the beast spread his icy wings and came after him. He decided not to run back to the cabin, knowing that there was an injured man and woman inside. He'd just have to deal with this on his own somehow.
