I wrote this for my little sister. She just recently started that phase where she started asking for makeup, and when Mom said no, she cried because she felt ugly.. So this is kind of what I wrote for her. Tell me what you think:

We read the story
About the girl who felt ugly,
Could you relate?

She had shining long hair,
Big blue eyes,
That beautiful smile
And those rosy cheeks
Yet at night she cries,
That feeling peaks

The girl exercised and ate right,
But she felt fat
She was so bright,
But she felt she lacked
Her mother hugged her,
Told her she was beautiful
But the girl didn't believe her

Little sister, you and her
Are one and the same
Your face burns
With idealized shame

But there is only one thing,
One thing you need to get
If you are beautiful inside
That makes you a beautiful being,
Inside and out.

Little sister, you are beautiful,
Forget those magazines you read,
They have planted the seed
That made you doubtful
Of what we're saying to you

You needn't worry about your face,
Your hair, or your weight,
You have your childhood grace
You'll get plenty of dates

Just worry on being a little girl today,
And do not cry
About being ugly
No, not anymore.

You are beautiful inside,
Inside and out.
