Heeey, crafty folks... I need ideas! My main skill is weaving, and that's what I'd intended to make all my crafts, but I just found these amazing cabochons that my grandfather cut, and I'd love suggestions on crafting around them to make them wearable. Given the equipment I've always been pretty competent at any craft I've put my hand to*, so I can probably handle most suggestions that don't involve a forge or a kiln.
Here are a couple of pictures of the stones-- they're all semiprecious at best, but so lovely! I especially like the purple/black one in the center. I'd love to figure out an elegant way to add these to my wardrobe, but I'm stumped!
SPOILERX
Okay, this one's kind of blurry, but you can see the colors a little better!X
*Except spinning. I'm awful at spinning. You only think Sleeping Beauty had spindle troubles.
Ohh, those are lovely. The first thing that popped into my head was wire wrapping. Though the one in the lower right on your first pic is telling me that it longs to be made into a cameo-style brooch. It seems to think it's a beautiful lady's face, audacious thing!
Is it alright if I join? Crafting sounds fun and a good way for me to get back into origami and finally use my paints. I dunno what my list will be yet, but I think I want to aim for 25 things by December 5th next year.
I couldn't find the magazine the cameo-mounting thing was in, but I think i've figured out how to do it. And I was going to wait and make my list for next year, but I'm too excited about this to wait. So I'm starting my list now!

Reason: progress post
I'm not in love with it, but it's a lot better than I thought it was going to be. Not sure if I this this version I dolled up with photobucket, or the original coloring better. I do need to get a pencil sharpener though...
I'd send you mine if I knew where they were... and if I had your address and shipping money. >.> My grandmother gave me a fairly nice set once because she thought I was into art... but I'm not much good at drawing-type art. Granted, I've never really had the patience to practice. *shrug*
I'm not much good at this embroidered setting thing, either. It's not working at all the way the magazine said it should, and it's driving me nuts. I've got some new ideas at how to go about it, though... I just need to get past the frustration and start again!
Wyrmskyld: If you need to, take a moment to 'walk away.' I know how you feel about getting frustrated and sometimes walking away from the project helps because it gives me a chance to clear my head.
It's the middle of the night and I'm really bored. I might get up and make my treat for that food picture competition... If I can make it look right I might post it here, too.
I finished a couple Christmas presents recently:
Blue knitted scarf:
The picture doesn't show the length or color well, but it's a soft light blue and is about 75 inches long.
