I really like your title for this thread and it inspired me to tell a story from my childhood. When you all have kids keep in mind what they cherish and remember :)

When I was in 2nd grade one year around Halloween my mother was a bit nervous about people possibly pulling some tricks on us or harming us because of a recent divorce. Anyrate, we spent the night down in the family room with all the other lights off to discourage people from coming to the house. Mom rented several family movies she felt would be good for us kids. She also got several bags of candy including candy corn only in pumpkin form. I remember those and they are still my favorite during the fall season :) Anyrate, we hung out there till after 12 into the early morning and then went to bed.

What makes that memory so precious is that mom was always so busy working that we never got much time together. So my twin brother and I often entertained ourselves while she was working around the classroom. That night we got to spend time hanging out with our mom. Yeah the candy was delicious and the movies fun, but that family time with our mother was what really mattered in the end.

I just thought I would share that story. Halloween for me is fun evenings with my family, or would be if I wasn't stuck in college out of state :)

@maiden
That's completely awesome. I love hanging out with my friends and junk but I will never forget how my mom would always make an effort to get us costumes and take us trick or treating in our neighborhood despite the fact that my dad was always working out of town around that time. She did ALL the work so we could have a nice Halloween. Give your mom a great big hug from me for being so spectacularly cool.

@ Lunar - I will :) Parents are pretty cool. Life doesn't always deal good cards but parents are everything.

Family memories are the best! I know parents probably think we don't remember but sometimes it's the little things that stick with you the most. Like just having that one whole night to hang out with your mom. Or how my big brother ALWAYS had to carry me if there were dogs. lol

And love has killed my thread... :(
No one has ANY stories? Nothing spooky happened on Halloween? How's this, this hot guy I'd met once before was hitting on me at the one party I went to after work. WEEEEEIIIIRD. lol

Aaaaand. I'm back from eating.
Awh. That's such a sweet story.
I remember I would always go trick or treating with my cousins, aunts and my grandma. Nothing really eventful happened. But we were together running around the neighbor hood. It was wonderful.

*is no longer abandoned*

Yeah, I remember when I was a kid the whole neighborhood would get out and go trick or treating or sit on their porches and hand out candy. Like, not just my street but like, blocks... What happened? It's so not like that anymore. At least not where I grew up.

Well, I went out to a place where there are a few restaurants and clubs with my fiancé and another friend of ours and we saw THE strangest things there. there actually WAS someone dressed up as male parts, we saw so many of the whoreish costumes it was ridiculous. Still don;t understand why girls and even older women think that dressing up in practically nothing is a good costume. And I am a guy, so they can't say "oh, because all the guys like it." I think it's stupid and unclassy. Women should respect themselves a bit more!

@Piano: Agreed. Nice username, by the way. XD
And yes. Many girls do that here. I say nay! It's unsightly and getting ridiculous. ><
I'm happy with my Banana man. I think I got more attention that way instead of dressing in next to nothing.

@Lunar: Yes! I am back! :D
And same here. Everyone seems to be lacking in halloween spirit as the years go on. It's saddening. I hope my kids [If I have any] Don't have to suffer.

I am glad you ladies agree!
@Lunar - oh yes that sounds like a great idea! I just went as a zombie this year - traditional, yet still fun. I think I want to try something more creative next year too.
@Pizza- I am glad you like the username =D

My costumes tend to be out there. Maybe... I'll go as someone from Axis Powers Hetalia. Orrrrr. Pokemon! :D

And I'm glad you're glad.

I was a witch this year because it was kind of last minute. I bought a wig and a cape and wore a black evening dress I already owned.

@ Pizza - Ah yes, pokemon! So, wouldyou want to be one of the humans or an actual pokemon?
Ha, for some reason that gives me the idea to dress up as Sonic the Hedgehog. That would be awesome!

@ Lunar: That's cool though. Sometimes improvised costumes turn out the best!

Never went as a witch.
And Kid costumes are getting better and better. D:
They had a spock costume at Kmart. For young children. So sad.

@Piano. I was gonna try for an actual pokemon. But that would be difficult. So maybe...
Well. Maybe an Anthro.

Go as a gijinka! XD

I'm thinking of going as Shaymin and use my C.C. wig for it.

Since the fur's almost same in color.

Plus I managed to fix my wig so... <3

Still it's a major head ache though. -_- Fibers tangle easily. Pfft.

It didn't turn out too bad really. You guys are making me think of pokemon though and I'm like thinking of Pikachu. He's the only one I know!

@Whitebeast: Ooh! Sky Forme or Land? I personally prefer Sky. I even have a plushie.
And I was thinking maybe Flareon. I'm a fail for not knowing Gijinka.

@Lunar: Yes. Pikachu is very common. XD But there are over 400 now. :D

It may sound totally weird but I remember stumbling across a website with a picture of pikachu and a headline that said something like, "Coming soon. Discover them all." I thought, "How cute! I wonder what it is!?" And didn't think about it until a year later when suddenly Pokemon started. I went WTF, that looks so familiar. And then it just EXPLODED. Pokemon everywhere!!!!

That's awesome! It is juts like Twilight. My mom is a media specialist so I saw her reading the book waaaaaaaaaaay before the crazyness started. I've never actually read them, but saw the movie. It it weird when you know of something before it explodes into populatity

Land form. xD

It like the big pink flowers that look like six petaled sakuras thank you.

I was thinking of submitting myself wearing a pseudo gijinka for the costume contest here too.

Fufufu. x3
