this will make FF not load any javascript, meaning that it wont load the Gaia AIM server.

I don't know what else this would disable on Mene, but it is manageable.

quoting this so it doesn't get lost.

and you are welcome :3

still looking for a fix for IE

I don't know what the problem is but I'm getting the same thing as well, plus my window minimized to a long narrow rectangle every time I go to a page here.

The only thing that I can think of that could be happening is that the two servers have crossed wires somehow (Not sure if that's possible, just thinking it as the whole - pick up the house phone and you have the neighbor talking to someone instead and they can't hear you- theory. XD)

EDIT::: I think its fixed now cause its no longer doing it to me. ^_^

Nuh, Trystan has already established what it is. :3

I'm pleased that without javascript enabled that annoying square in the corner is gone. -___-; I can't use DA now though. XD

Alright, I now have a fix for FF AND IE! woot!

IE is a bit more involved though.

Firefox:

Tools > options > content and click the little box next to enable javascript

IE:

Tools > Internet Options > Security > Internet > Custom Level > scroll down to Active Scripting > Click Disable

This will make your browser stop loading javascript, meaning that it wont load the Gaia AIM server.

I don't know what else this would disable on Mene, but it is manageable.

I think the gist of it is over now, my browser isn't having the problem anymore. (FF)((haven't changed any of my settings.))

Makes me feel better now. :]

I hope this is all we have to deal with.....I'm hoping Tristans comment about it being amature...means...it stops here....

however....now that I think about it....it had to be A) an inside job.....(I dont really believe this) or B) they where smart enough to hack into the database...which could mean future issues....

Did you check "java" or "javascript".
I checked off both to be sure, but I think it's javascript you need off.

javascript, but the code on the pages is gone now :3 you can reenable it.

Sadly, unless the hole is fixed, it very well may happen again >>;

well, they were only caught this time because of the pop-up.

Hopefully the holes will be patched soon and we won't have to worry about anything ^^

on the bright side, the sheer fact that the pop-up existed shows that the script kiddie didn't entirely know what he was doing.

Which is very lucky for us because that could have gone un-noticed for a long while...

it very well could have.....which would have caused us more problems in the long run

this only goes to prove my theory that people can be such idiots.....probably did it just to see if he could....that or he has some grudge against the site....

I personally think they may have been fishing for passwords.
I'm trying to think of a decent one for mene that isn't too like my gaia password, just in case.

It just stopped happening to me. and I accidently clicked on the link once.

I did not even know gaia had an IM, but it had me freaked out. until just now when it stopped, I have posted on facebook and emailed support. x.x I did not even want to come on here. Now I am changing my password and going to get my sister to change my account password on gaia if she still remembers what it is. xD (she pretty much has control of my account on there xD)

I don't think that should be too drastic of a problem if you don't have the same username/don't log in Gaia regularly. But I could easily be wrong.

Seeing how it looks like this problem has stopped (because i have been browsing the forums for hours without a single pop up or whatever the crap was happening) I will lock this up

And guys - there is no need to panic over something like this ;) I read through it and it wasn't going to steal your passwords or cookies, so take a chill pill and relax! :P lol
