Siri, it's always surprised me how few people actually know that line. I was trying to teach some of my students what "vigilant" meant, but none had read Harry Potter so they didn't understand the reference. :(

Yep, Harry Potter was huge when I was in school. Everyone had a set, even if they weren't big readers.

Me too. I read them all the time. My sister just got a French HP book for x'mas (although she doesn't know it yet).

I'm excited to be helping teach an HP special topics course this coming semester...said class being further proof that our English Department rocks.

It'll focus on a little bit of everything: mythology, characterization, the application of critical theories, fandom, etc. I'm unbelievably excited for it. More so since I've found out that it will be mostly honors college students, which should ensure rather in-depth discussions.

Oh it was, those seats vanished the first day they were available. Then we added another 20 seats to make a full 40 and same thing, gone within a day.
