► The World

The World of Kannavahmen is harsh and unforgiving to all of its inhabitants. The majority of the planet is made up of ice and water, while the land is prominently desert and tundra. There are two major continents - Patharos and Keppet - as well as several chains of small islands between the major land masses.

The Nations at War
The two major continents are occupied by the waring nations – Patharos to Kingdom and Keppet to United Empire. The islands between the land masses are predominantly owned by Kingdom, with the exception of those closets to Keppet, which Empire has won during the War.
As well as the waring nations, a third group has recently emerged from the conflict. Calling them selves ‘The Neutral Resistance Group’, they stand for all those who have been displaced or damaged by the war. Little is known about this organisation, but the intelligence agencies of both Empire and Kingdom have several suspects in questioning.

The Story so far...
War has divided the world of Kannavahmen for many decades. What started as the trivial rebellion of a penal colony has become a world wide conflict affecting every inhabitant of the planet. Resources and lives are being burnt through in an attempt further each side’s efforts, leaving both the natural world and the society of the warring nations in a rapidly decaying mess.

► Adoptable Races

These are the current races available of adoption. Kannavahmen is populated by a wide great many nations, but many of there are rare or unwilling to be associated with out siders.

The Common

Main Attributes: Large Population (common), advanced technology and the main participants in the War.
Available Ranks: Military, Priest, Politician and/or government, Craftsmen and/or Artisan, courtesan, other
Special: The Common are renown for their ability to work together to achieve goals. This makes them a formidable force, but also one easily manipulated by a strong leader.

The Common are both the most humanoid and advanced of the three main races. The level of technology used by the Common is generally equal to that of late 1800’s earth, but the areas of weapons and heavy transport are for more advanced then that of the more ‘day to day’ investments (medical and communication are particularly neglected). Common populate almost all areas of Kannavahmen with the exception of a few islands and the deepest reaches of the ocean.


The Garrion

Main Attributes: Smaller population, open communication with the Celph
Available Ranks: Priest, Official, Shaman, Warrior, Companion, Lay Person, Defector, Other
Special: Garrion are known for their abilities of prophecy and empathy. Also able to survive extended periods without food.

The Garrion are mostly humanoid, secretive and very superstitious. Much of their culture is centred around their spirituality and a deep belief in their gods and ancestors. In terms of technology, the Garrion appear primitive and naïve to the changing world around them. In reality, they possess an in depth knowledge of the natural world, medicine and many of the mysteries of the ocean. Their society and culture is complex but for more open then both the Celph and Common.



The Celph

Main Attributes: Unknown population, Sea Dwellers, closed society
Available Ranks: Warrior, Priest, Companion, Watchmen, Common person, Changling
Special: .....

The Celph are part humanoid part cephalopod. In terms of technology, their abilities are debatable. Sceptics believe they are simply gifted showmen and scavengers of past technologies, while others claim they are the most advanced of all the races inhabiting Kannavahmen. Either way, the technology the Celph use is elegant and far the understanding of even the most knowledgeable of Common Scientists.

There have been rumours of 'Changling' Celph: Those who possess the ability to shift into an almost Common appearance and walk amongst the land dwellers. The truth and details of this particularly group of Celph are vague at best...

► Ranks and Occupations
Ranks refer to the position your pet holds within it's society - essentially, ranks refer to Occupations. Each Race has it's own set of ranks, but many are very similar.

How Ranks Work
There are no strict guide lines to ranks. It simply gives a little more information about your character. Predrawn characters will have an assigned rank, while customs will be able to choose they’re rank.

Common Ranks

Military: A position in the military could be anything from a foot solider on the front lines, a special operations agent or a mercenary. It also includes the Naval aspects of Common warfare. A character having a military rank would be respted but not expected to live every long - the War has caused a dramatic drop in the average life span of a Common Military agent. Some medial workers are covered by this rank, but only those who work with the military (field medics, Medic unit surgeons)

Priest: The Common follow a religion known as 'Communion'. It's essentially a variation on Christianity, but with a focus on science and further knowledge. A character with a priest rank could be involved in any part of the priesthood - from acolyte to bishop. Priests are respected and feared with in 'civil' society. The further away from populated areas you travel, the less important 'keeping up' religious appearances are. Note: The laws of Communion are rather varied, depending on what Nation you're from.

Government: A character with a government rank will depend on which Nation they serve.
Those serving Kingdom would serve the monarchy and Prime Minister. Government ranks from Kingdom are generally considered are generally considered corrupt or less righteous then their Empire fellows. A Government rank in Kingdom could be anything from a police officer to a member of parliment.

Those serving United Empire server a council of representatives. Empire is strict and will make very few allowances for corrupt or lax government officials. An Empire government rank would have the same roles as Kingdom.

The Common are both the most humanoid and advanced of the three main races. Skilled Workers & Craftsmen: this is the working class rank. The character may be anything from a sculpture, Artists, Blacksmith or Electrician. It's a fairly open rank to say the least.

Courtesan: A courtesan is well...what a courtesan is, but not just serving high class clientele. Courtesan Rank refers to anything character who's main occupation involves something a little seedy.

Scientist The Scientist rank works closely with the priest ranks to both reach spiritual enlightenment through education, as well as furthering their nation's military Stenger. Weapons and War related technology is prioritised and government funded, with other areas of study left to those who can raise the funds to undertake it them selves.

Other: The rank of "Other" is pretty much anything that isn't covered by the above or encouraged by the nation's ruling power. Most medial workers (nurses, doctors, dentists), out laws and rogues, celebrities and the unemployed fit in this rank.

► About Making your Own:
Making your own Pet in Kannavahmen is a little different to how you'd think. I guess it's like the ultimate custom? Either way, 'Make your Own' means exactly that - you can make your own Kannavahmen resident.

There are a few rules to follow with this, and some steps I'd like you to go by when submitting you own pet. If you don't follow these, there's a good chance I will not accept your submission.

► Just a Note

Before you Even start to Create
Please note that not every submission will be accepted. I'm not asking for master peices of art and character design, just a little effort and time to be put into peoples pets~

Also, when it comes to the art you use I will not tolerate, in anyway, art theft. The art you submit for the character portrait must be your own, or art drawn by another person but used with their permission. There is more information on this in the steps to creating your own character section.

If I receive a large number of submissions, username pets will be released in batches. This means if you submit just after I've made a release, you may have to wait until the next round.

► Rules & Other Information on Self Made Pets

Rules to Creating your Own

o1 Please read all available information on the World and Lore before creating. This will help your character 'fit' into the world of Kannavahmen
o2 All character design and art must be original - No cosplay (accept of your own characters). I wont have a Batman or Jack Sparrow pet.
o3 All are must be either created by your self, or by another from whom you have been granted permission to use said art.
o4 You may have up to 3 of any kind of Kannavahmen pet, so this means you may have up to 3 user made pets.
o5 You must wait 1 month between successful submissions (ie: you may create one character a month).

Steps to Creating Your Own

o1 Create a character design
Work out a character design and Story for your soon to be lovely. There is a profile form here that may help you during this stage.


o2 Create your character's Portrait art
This picture will go on your certificate of owernship. The image will need to be saved as either a transparent PNG or a unmerged PSD file (for psd. files, please upload it here and make sure the link works before sending in your submission). I would prefer the image to be of a larger resolution, simply because it makes it easily to add onto the certificate. If you are drawing your character picture using 'real media' and unable to create a transparent background/ have drawn a background, it's fine! I just prefer transparent backgrounds for certing~
The image should be at least a waist up view of your character. Other then that, you're free to create whatever you like.

Just a note on art ownership:
As I've mentioned already, I'd prefer you to draw your own character portrait but I know not everybody can do that so I'll give you the option of having someone else do it.
If you op for this, let the artists who is drawing your portrait know what it will be used for and get their permission!!!
If I find out you didn't, you'll have one angry Glam on your hands D:


o3 Send it in!
Since the Beta version of Kannavahmen is more relaxed then the final version will be, there is no limit to how many user made pets I will allow. This means there is not writing sample element to submit.
So, once you've got the art and the design down, please fill in the form bellow and PM it to me (Glammy). The only time I will refuse to accept your submission is if it is obvious you but little/no effort into the process or if you've forgotten something. In either case, you will be informed of the problem and allowed a chance to amend whatever problem has occurred.

Q. Why are there a few different Certificates?
There is a large certificate for use in journals/ character profiles and a smaller certificate for signature. There may be more certificate's appearing in the future...

Q. Where's my art?
It depends. If it's a custom and been 3 months and you haven't heard from Glammy, send her a PM. If it's not a custom, check the thread. You may have missed your PM or Glam may have forgotten to PM it to you.

Q. My characters a Celph...how do I interact with any other race?
You have two options: Limited interaction, particularly with the Common. This could be by coming across a ship wreck, finding another person's character who has been lost at sea, finding another character in shallow water/ a beach/ a cave near the ocean. Celph can servive for short periods of time in very limited water.
The Second option is to have a changling character. This will allow your Celph to go onto land for periods of time and interact with other races with little trouble. You can find more information on Changlings in this forum.

Q. Someone is giving me crap in an RP, what do I do?
Follow general Mene procedure for this sort of thing~

Q. How do you pronounce Garrion and Celph?
Garrion = G-Ah-re-on. Celph = K-e-ff or S-el-ff. It's up to you.

► More Information on the Nations:
There are two main nations in Kannavahmen - Kingdom and United Empire. In this post you find more information on both, including a breif description and dot point attributes of the culture and society for each.

► The Kingdom

The older of the two nations. It has a long history of conquest and colonisation, with the United Empire being a past colony, which rebelled several decades ago. The Kingdom has a smaller population then the Empire, with most of its people spread out over the landmass, particularly in the forests and tundra areas. Kingdom frequently makes up for it’s lesser population by focusing far more of it’s resources into the war then Empire.
Also, Kingdom has the more relaxed laws in terms of social acceptance of ‘out siders’. It considers Garrion descendent and purebloods as citizens, as well as often accepting immigrants from Empire. With this said, both groups suffer extreme racial discrimination and bias within the society. There are few equal rights laws.
The Kingdom neither denies or accepts the existences of the Celph. There are rumours of small research groups dedicated to unlocking their secrets, but no government sources will give an opinion on this matter.
Kingdom does indeed have a monarchy, but they are reclusive and rarely seen. There is currently a prince in power.

► The United Empire
United Empire has a large population base and more advanced technology in comparison to Kingdom. The majority of Empire’s population is composed of the people of past colonies belonging to Kingdom (hence the ‘united’ bit).
Even through their population is extremely mixed, the Empire is rather discriminatory against outsiders. There are strict laws regarding marriage and relations with people from Kingdom or the other races populating Kannavahmen, most of which say a big fat NO to said relationships/marriages. Garrion descendent are treated as less-then-human/slave class, and purebloods are often completely outlawed.
The existence of the Celph is denied by most of the Empire, with only a few sailors admitting to believe in what lies beneath the ocean’s surface.
Empire is ruled by The League, a representative council comprised of the leaders of each nation/group involved in the Empire.

This Post will contain further information the the races. The first section will simply be dot points aimed at those creating images of the race, mostly aimed towards those who wish to drawn their own Pet. Indepth information on each race can be found in the Gaia Guild later (because it's easier to text wall there...)

Celph Information

Ok. Here's some dot point information on these guys:

• 
  ● The start as an egg. The eggs can be plain or with decorative bits on them. You can do a diamond and gold encrusted egg if you feel that way inclined.
  ● They're Half Human half Octopus (normally).
  ● For Customs/ Special things you can have squid/ other Cephalopod lower halves if you want. I'm actually planning a Blanket Octopus some time.
  ● 8 or 7 tentacles are usually the norm. But feel free to have less if you want to have a war wounded Celph/ genetic freak
  ● They lay eggs. Octopus eggs look like this: [x] [x] [x] . Celph eggs look very much the same. You can show some human parts inside the egg if you want. Or they could just be little shiny tube things. It’s up to you.
  ● Females have smaller horns or none. Males have longer antler looking horns. Horns develop around the late teens.
  ● Colour wise, anything is possible on the tentacles. Patterns, rainbow, monocolour, tricolor, whatever.
  ● Their hair is black, but is isn't unheard of for a Celph to bleach their hair. This is only socially acceptable in Warriors and Priests. They also tie all kinds of fun stuff in their hair
  ● Clothes could be anything that isn't too restrictive. They still have to swim. With that said, feel free to completely disregard that and make elaborate out fits if you want. CREATIVE POWA.
  ● Remember their a 'made up' race and I haven't set everything down, and a lot of what I have down isn't set in stone, so if you've got an idea, shoot me a message or something and we'll see~ <3

Garrion Information

• 
  ● Garrion children don't actually come in boxes, but they are given a little box to keep important things in as a child. This is why for the purpose of this project, the first stage will be a wee little decorative box. It should be about the size of a large jewellery box, wooden and have a lock on the front. The rest is up to you.
  ● They’re actually a kind of demon, which is why the Common (as a rule) don’t like them.
  ● The Horns start to grow around puberty.
  ● Horns range in colour. Browns, tan, dull gold, black, grey and in rare cases, white. Horns can be painted and/or dyed though.
  ● The Wings grew from when the child is about 6 months old. They should look a little over sized on a child stage and almost in proportion on a teen/ adolescent stage.
  ● Wings, as a rule, are black but do come in shades of grey, dark purple and brown.
  ● The tattoos are really whatever you want. They’re generally flat black and bold, but you can do detailed designs if you want. Some rich or more important Garrion will also coloured tattoos (but nothing in blue, since that's reserved for a different class)
  
  ● Here's a long description of a Garrion pure blood:
  Basically, Garrion look human at first glace. As a rule, a pure blood Garrion would have dark brown to black hair and blue, green or black eyes. Their skin varies from albino-esque pale to a golden tan, depending on what region of the world they're from and how much they get out in the sun. A Garrion's limbs are a little longer then what would be considered normal - this is most noticeable in the adolescent stages, and even more so in a Companion. Fingers and toes are also elongated.
  The most noticeable features are the Wings and Horns - Garrion pure blood have Black Feathered wings - like a crows - and some kind of horns. The most common shape for Garrion horns are like a rams, but everything but antlers could happen. Horns come in a variety of colours and can also be painted and/or stained.
  There are some cases of different coloured wings in Garrion, but not very often.
  Non-pure bloods have any combination of the above.

Here are some past arty stuff I’ve done involving Garrion:
Old OC (Capillary Vitrol). Simple Priest or Witch Doctor example
Something that a general citizen or crafts men would wear
Havok, who is our resident Garrion. He technically doesn't have wings or Horns, but I decided he could have them back on the avvie >__>;

note: seriously. Go bananas with the out fits for these guys/gals. They like pretty things and don’t really do gender deference in clothing. Some of WearDreaies' work my give some inspiration. The only other advice I could give you is tribal steampunk?

About Jobs/Ranks

There are several main rankings/occupations a Garrion could have:
(Note: these aren't solid rules. Each tribe/group would have different customs, so any differences could be put down to that~)

● Warrior/Solider/Guard:
Would be taller and a little broader in the shoulders. Clothing would have more metal incorporated into it. Facial tattoos and wing decorations (things tied onto feathers) are also popular.
Traditionally uses knives, cutlasses and spears, but now also use pistols and other fire arms.
Both genders, but mostly male.

● Witch Doctor/ Priest/ Shaman/ Healer
Would be smaller built, but still slightly athletic since a lot of ceremonies involve a great deal of physical activity. Clothing would involve corsets, particularly in girls who tend to do waist training (depending on what god they worship). They paint and sometimes file their horns.
Witch doctors wear bones a lot. Some might even wear smaller skulls. They carry staffs of wood, bone and feathers. Also have more tattoos then others. They also tend to wear blue gems and shiny things.

● Concubine
the companions of warriors and high priests. Both Genders and all build can be concubines.
They are considered untouchable to all but their masters.
Clothing wise, they would obviously wear more revealing/ sexualized clothing then other ranks.
They would normally carry an incense burner or fan.
May have bright blue designs tattooed or painted on their body.

● General Public/ Trade related Jobs/ Craftspeople/ Make up your own
What ever, except not a lot of blue.
Higher ranking/richer Garrion would wear more colour.

Common Information

Ok. Here's some dot point information on these guys:

• 
  ● I now say they come in bundles. Like...I bit of cloth tied together at the top kind of thing. Why? Because I say so, that's why. The cloth can be as decorative (or not) as you like, and could be tied with whatever you little heart desires.
  ● They look like humans. They come in all the colours that humans do.
  ● The plural (as in, a group) of Common is Union…just because
  ● People from Kingdom don’t like to wear blue
  ● People from United Empire don’t like to wear red
  ● People who like to stay neutral usually end up dead. But if they live long enough to actually get dressed, they don’t wear much of either colour. They wear a white green dull lime armband with a big ‘X’ on it. That means they’re rebels. But not in public. ‘cause they’d end up dead.

Common are pretty much complete freedom. Particularly if you want to do some half Garrion peeps. Common can't breed with Celph though (but they do occasionally get funky...and dance to disco music. Yes...). Feel free to use bright colours, shiny leather (not PVC. they don't have PVC) body suits. Whatever.

  About the Society
  ● The Kingdom is, I suppose, mostly Western in appearance. But that’s a very broad and flexible way of describing them/it.
  ● Most of the architecture is elaborate, detailed and kitsch to the point of stupidity. Lots of marble, gold and little cherubs with trumpets. The only problem is that all of this is old and unkept.
  ● The War has sucked most of the culture out of Kingdom. There hasn’t been any distinct cultural growth since a few years into the fighting. You could say the society is going stagnant because of this.
  ● Fashion styles are being recycled in a desperate attempt to bring life and some beautify into the slowly decaying society.
  ● The Coastal Towns/Cities, particularly the major Naval centers are the most active and populated. They’re also the most culturally diverse. The further inland you go, the more segregated the cultural groups are.
  
  About the People
  ● Kingdom people are the more accepting of the two nations.
  ● There are far more social freedoms and the officials often ‘turn a blind eye’ to those who go against the more trivial of the laws. Down side to this is that Kingdom is considered far more corrupt then United Empire.
  ● People from Kingdom wear mostly European influenced fashion, with the colonial styles being in fashion currently. That said, anything goes.
  ● The people who resided in the deserts of Kingdom tend to be the lower class or out laws, but there are groups of ‘native people’ who have traditions that could be viewed as a mix between the nomadic Bedouin people, and central African culture.
  ● The forest dwellers of Kingdom are also a mix of outlaws and natives. The native peoples of the forest areas of Kingdom have a culture about equal to 12th Century England (think King Arthur and Knights). They are only a small group and don’t particularly like new comers.

About the Society
● United Empire is a mix of late American 18th Century Western (cowboys all that jazz) and a sort of Asian culture. This is not to say that Kingdom doesn’t have any Asian elements to it’s mixed culture, just Empire has a very obvious influence.
● I’ll write more here later.

About the People
● People of Empire are very close minded and limited in what they accept into their society.
● Their society has a far more ridged set of rules and ways of governing it’s people then Kingdom. Religion is far more important.

You will get a PM from Glammy or Vitrio with all the information you'll need. This will include your certificates, an information pack and details on getting started with RP. Once you've got this, and there's some other people with pets, get into the RP! Or just show off your cert~
