I've never been in an earthquake.
It sounds rather frightening.
Hearing about them always reminds me of the scenes in Mary Poppins when they shoot off the cannon.

Earthquakes where I live are.. almost impossble.
So no, I've never had an earthquake experience... although sometimes we get really weak earth tremors.
I've never felt them though (for some reason, they always seem to happen at night - when I'm asleep).
If I was in an earthquake, I would probably be like "Oh, this is so cool!" : D
If it was a BIG one though.. Dx

LOL
I've experienced a rather strong earthquake before.
I'm not sure as to what intensity it was though :?
But it did make the big cabinets in our house shake.
I was using the computer that time and I was amazed by the shaking cabinet [with glass sliding doors] that was beside me so much that I forgot about the necessary precautions that need to be followed whenever there's an earthquake ^^

I don't have any interesting encounters with earthquakes. This country is very peaceful nature-wise. The only noticeable earthquake I had was when I was at school years ago - the ground appeared to shake a tiny bit, like when you're a little bit dizzy. I saw a few people look around like "huh?", but nothing moved or anything. That night on the news, it said that there had been an earthquake. :XD

dear crapity crap X'''''''''D
I saw it on the news that Hollywood was shaking xD
They were just recording Judge Judy (or something) episodes
and everything started to shake, everybody ran away, lol...
There arent alot earthquakes in the Netherlands (we barely have any moutains either btw)
But I felt the shaking twice.
One when I was very young, about 4 - 6... In the middle of the night or morning, shakey shakey,
so my brother was scared as hell and I didn't even knew what the heck was happening xD
And when I was older, like, 14? I was just waking up (too XD) as my bed was shaking.
Mom was downstairs and I told her: "Did you felt that?"
Ofcourse she didnt... *sigh*
Later I heard on the news that it was an earthquake. "Told you."

We had an earthquake of 3.5 here in the UK not that long ago, I wasn't sure what it was at first, maybe a large lorry since we life near a main road ... but after a few moments I realised what it was and was murmering 'awesome' to myself.
Is it wrong that I find earthquakes exciting?
I seriously have some issuses

I was in one earthquake when I was little. I didn't think it was anything else, because there wasn't much it could be in my mind at such a young age XD

Ooh, I felt the LA earthquake! I was at the doctor's, waiting for her to appear in my room, when all of a sudden the room started shaking. I knew at once what it was...xD My mom and I were like, "whoa, an earthquake." It felt like it had lasted forever. We left the room and everyone else, including the nurses/doctors, were screaming "OMGOMGOMG WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!" It was scary...and weeird. =0
That was the first earthquake I've felt for...hmm...4 years or so? The only memory I have of any other earthquake was me lying in my bed as a little kid, with the total crud scared out of me...xDDD it was like, A Fourth Grader's Sleep > Earthquake

We barely felt it out here, it was too far north of me (I'm in San Diego county). All my friends from LA were freaking out, though. I dunno why, a 5.8 isn't a big freaking deal.

I'm living in Cali right now, but I'm far enough away I didn't even know about the earthquake untill hours after the fact.
XD
My father was freaking out, texting me, worried that his little girl might have suffered in it.
Glad I didn't though. We didn't have eathquakes on the otherside of the US. XD

The only two eathquakes we've had in england, for as long as i've been around, at least to my knowledge, i slept through them both.
Some people got quite badly shaken but nothing in my room had moved, and nobody else in my house felt it either. I was a little disappointed i missed the second one.

The name of your thread reminds me of Transformers when the Autobots were walking around the house and that dad thought it was an earthquake. X3
I've never experienced an earthquake before. We had a tornado drill in school one time that was apparently a real tornado. We were all oblivious.
The only thing we really get where I live are hurricanes. Even then, they've never been really bad. The streets were flooded and the power went out but there wasn't any lasting damage.

Funnily enough we had an earthquake in the UK a few months back that was weird because we thought it was a lorry going past until we started moving about on our beds and it got stronger it felt alot longer than it was it was about 30seconds I think. Something we don't usually get over that often.
lol I should read other peoples posts...

I felt that Earthquake (In England) just as I was going to bed, nothing huge.
It was the first one I had witnessed and it freaked me out. It was super late at night but I ran in my housemates room and was like arrrgh what was that! I watched my wardrobe rattling and my wall mirror looked like it was bending. Freaky.
I thought it was a lorry that had drove into our terrace, or a plane crash or something! All kinds of wild thoughts raced through my head.
Everyone at Uni talked about it the next day, it was exciting for us.

Oh I was at work when that happened. I live in Carmel Mountain, but work at Poway, which is between Mira Mesa, Rancho Penasquitos and Carmel Mountain.
Surprisingly everyone in the surrounding towns AROUND me felt it, but I didn't feel a thing while I was working...and I was standing all day too!!
I hope nothing bad happened though :\ coz I heard there were like 30something aftershocks.

The only earthquake I ever felt was between 2003-2005. At first I thought it was nothing, and then it got BIGGER and everything started shaking. I thought the house was gonna fall or something like that and started freaking out XD ... well, back then I felt an aftershock too.
I dunno why I didn't feel anything at all this time, though.

i have never been in an earthquake but if i was i would first be confused, and if it got out of hand i would freak out, but if it was just a small one i'd make a really bad joke about someone having major gas, just to break the tension

I live in Alaska so earthquakes are pretty common, I think the biggest one I've experienced was a 6.5 or something around that. I'll admit they can be pretty scary (esp. when they happen at night and wake you up). However nothing in my home has ever broken due to an earthquake. I do have a question though for those living in CA, do you have to do earthquake drills in school? I noticed on the news when they reported on the latest earthquake a lot of kids looked like they didn't know what to do, and I was just curious.

Yeah we did have earthquake drills back in grade school (hide under the table...doesn't do much except build your own grave).
