Yeah you definitely need someone to support you that's what i've learnt, it's just too hard to do it alone. My friends and family just had no idea what i was going through & so really i just sat in a pool of self pity for so long. So if you can, try to seek some advice? Local health clinics, free consultations and all that jazz. That's pretty much how i got started. Though i am diabetic so i have access to a lot of free/low rate things. But it's worth looking into. The internet is good for that too :).

LOL sounds like my mum too. Makes up so much excuses why she can't come walking. She's out of breath, she's bloated (from over eating), she's too tired, her ribs hurt blah blah blah lol. AND does the same thing your mum does, buys all this crap while you buy all the healthy stuff and have to sit there and watch them eat all the junk food in front of you. She's real good for that! Especially since i cook mainly all the food around here, and i have to do 2 meals most of the time because she can't settle for just a salad. It makes me so angry! And she's the reason why my dieting is so up and down. Because when i see her eating that crap, i want to eat it too. That too it normally is quicker to cook/make. *sigh*

Well when you have your doctor telling you that your diabetes will kill you & going on about all the various issues that you have constantly and what they're doing to your body. Yeah, kinda scares the crap outta ya lol.

My mother made a few efforts, but trying those death diets (cabbage cleanse diet, et cetera), but they all never worked out. She would cook her meals herself, and I would cook my own myself. So I didn't have a problem there. But sometimes it just sucked when they loaded their plates til it over-flowed, with my favorite foods! I mean, my mother is overweight and I care about her. Least she could do for HERSELF is get healthy.

It's not so difficult for me to eat healthy food, even while I have to watch everyone else eat junk food. I LOVE vegetables, ...oddly I don't much like fruits. Anything sweet and/or sugary makes me sick. I can't take a bite of any candy otherwise it'll just churn my stomach if I do. I usually get my weight from starchy foods like potatoes, bread and pasta (all three of which I love). I don't even like soda-pop! I've had several people tell me I might be diabetic and should get it checked out. I know nothing of the signs of diabetes. I should look it up...

Argh i don't think those kinds of diets work at all. I think it's brains really - eat less & eat more healthier. I mean i've lost a lot of weight before especially when i was younger and getting really beefy. I went and lived on my aunt's farm & lost 20kgs. And that was basically, less food and much more healthier. BUT with the occasional crap lol. AND not even a lot of exercise just walking around the farm mainly lol. I mean you really don't have to go to large extents to starve yourself orr make yourself eat really crap shit every day lol. Like my diabetic coach lady said, it's all about portions really lol.

Well that's good!! Really? I wish i could say the same xDD. I love soda lol. BUT i only drink the diet/zero sugar types now. OHH those are my fav's too. Carbs are so evil lol.

Um some symptoms are ... dizzyness, headaches, aches in your arms and legs, high resting sugar levels (even several hours after you've eaten), going to the bathroom all the time, really thirsty all the time AND if you don't eat on time and regularly you feel like shit = zero energy. Chances are if your overweight and been so for a long time you may have it. BUT best to get it checked out. You have to drink a cup full of this nasty crap and sit there for a few hours xDD.
