I'm soooo happy that didn't happen near you guys, you have no idea. What they showed on TV...looked absolutely horrible and gut-wrenching. I can't imagine being in a building when that quake hit..

Volcano D: ?? Yeah, it's sooo bizarre listening to the radio, and hearing what's going on down there... There's so much misinformation, it isn't funny. Like one chick needed water really bad, and she got a phone number from the radio - called the person, and got crazy abuse </3

There are amazing stories too though. One guy is on the radio now, saying he's looking after his neighbour's ten year old grandson has been pushing a wheelbarrow around all day assisting where he can.

The first video that hit the net happened to be uploaded when I got online, and it showed this shoe in amidst the rubble - then you look closer, and realise a foot was in it, but the rest of the body was buried. I just couldn't believe it... Stories are coming out about how various people managed to survive the quake, by making split second decisions. Like one guy saw the opening, so he could get out - but he was too scared to move, so he slammed up against the wall, and watched as a colleague ran outside, and was killed instantly - when rubble collapsed on him. Pure insanity...

I've donated some money and hoping to get on board with a cupcake stall in about a months time. There's going to be a long hard road ahead for Christchurch.

One lady rescued yesterday from rubble, is getting married on Friday ^^ So there are miracles happening still.

Yeah it's pretty bad. 98 confirmed dead with 226 reported missing. You just know they're gonna pull more bodies from the rubble. It may not seem like much, but it's A LOT for NZ.

I spoke to this lady at millers today, and she said that her brother was behind one of the buses that got crushed. He said he saw a lady with half a head, and he reached in to grab someone out from the rubble, and they were dead.
It's honestly really horrible,. but the support from other countries has been overwhelming...

My sister who lives in Christchurch is coming to stay with me for a few days, glad my family is okay. But so sad for so many others. :(

That first picture is the CTV building where they suspect are 100+ bodies. Most of them international students.
I just can't stop watching this stuff. :(

That picture of the CTV place...is absolutely terrifying to look at.. :( It looks like almost all of it is gone..

@Nivvy - I bet those stories of survivors, from the ones specifically who made those split second decisions, feel sooo lucky to be alive, especially like with that one you just said.. I can't imagine what would be going on it my head while something like this was happening.. My head would just be one huge rush. @@

Yah it is, it just crumbled to the ground. And since it's home to like an english school - there were hundreds of international students there. One story was of a boy who was meant to be playing soccer for his national team, they found him alive but they had to amputate his leg to get him out.

There's been no survivors since weds though, so i bet all those people under that building are not alive. :(

You never know though..there's always a chance of someone being amazingly lucky under it all, they just have to be reached quick enough.

I know during 9/11 here, people were found 2-3 weeks afterwards, alive underneath the rubble. Absolutely amazing. >w<

Well i'm guessing if your un-injured, just trapped. You'll survive for ages under there. But if your injured that's another story...

Yeah, that's how the people that survived were mainly I believe. They were incredibly lucky..just shows that you should always keep going and try to get rid of the rubble as fast as possible, because there's always that chance. :3

Yeah well they did say that it's still classed as a rescue, rather then a recovery. So here's hoping!!
