@Howdy - Nope not at all. I live in Auckland, in the north island. If Auckland was hit, we'd be screwed xDD.
I have family down there, but they were okay. But yeah, i think i heard they have 165 confirmed dead now. Which doesn't seem like much after a huge natural disaster, but it's lots for NZ.

@Roachi ~ One is too much. If you separate from the numbers and think that each one was a living, feeling person you realize how big the tragedy is. But i'm glad that you and your bit of New Zealand were safe and that your family is safe as well. :)

Yah, there was a 7. something one back in sept last year. And this one i think was like a aftershock but it was 6.3. And hit in the middle of the day, so obviously everyone was at work ... It wasn't good the city looks like several massive bombs hit it lol.

Haha, I won both of them yesterday after a mini bid war. I think the other person(s) gave up, and I'd like to attribute it to the fact that I was quite brutal in bidding right away and upping the price. *only feels a little bad* But that's just what I think. :x

Thankfully I've never been in an earthquake, or even close enough to feel like... whatever that ripple effect is, despite being in CA, earthquake capital of the US, for a few years. (Although the same could be said about living in the lighting capital and never being struck by lighting... 8D ) I'll take a nice hurricane or lighting storm over an earthquake. At least those I'm used to!


And I was planning on going with a friend from work, and she was really into it for a while there, but lately when I've tried to ask her about it, to try and plan it, she seems disinterested. So I'm thinking I might be going alone. It sucks, cause she knows Japanese, and I only know Korean, so it would have been handy having someone who knew more about the language and culture than I, but MEH. *clings to Japaneses phrase book*

Ohh how much did you pay for yours? I paid like 20k for the blue one, from the auctioneer. Had a bid war with someone, but they gave up too xD. Haven't given mine a name yet -ponders-. OOoh i might have a competition at the charity to name him!! Good idea :P

I've never been in a natural disaster at all xD. I think we've had hurricanes/ bad storms, but they've never effected me really. I shouldn't speak too soon. Where are you at the moment, in an asian country aye?

Man, I love hurricans. (Except when they knock out electricity, which always happens!!!) The rain and wind is just impressive, and it's really cool to sit in the middle of it all, should you be in one of the 'nicer' ones.

Yupyup, korea. We had some bad rains last year, Typhoon and flood warnings. I even had to join in and dig a moat around one of the buildings that had the misfortune of being low on a hill.... o-o;;;
I'm just praying Japan doesn't decide my vacation time is a good time to... SHAKE things up, if you know what I mean. XD

And I hope so too. Unless that girl turns around and agrees, I'm just going to bull forward and plan the trip. It'll be a little sad going to Tokyo!Disney alone, but the desire to go is so bad I can't bring myself to care for much more than that.
Plus since I'm planning on visiting temples/shrines/pseudo-backpacking through the country, I should be fine. I'm going to cheat a little and find places that will be a little more accepting of foreigners. (Like a lot of the traditional inns/hot springs don't want foreigners since they don't understand the customs, but I'm studying them now, so.... :s ) XD
And apparently some cities are pretty tolerant of people sleeping on the streets, but I'm gonna admit to being hesitant to try THAT method... (Low crime rate my butt, I'm still a girl, and foreign to them, you never know who might take up the beef they have with you when you're vulnerable.... ) :/

Sounds epic. I heard on the news that there was an earthquake off the coast of japan today... Hope it wasn't too bad. We've got a lot of their search and rescue people still here in NZ, helping with the stuff that happened in christchurch.
