Jin grumbled incoherently, a light blush covering his cheeks. Before long he had drifted into a light sleep.

He woke at what would have been sunrise. The area they were in seemed desert like; even the air seemed burnt and dry. "Carol, tiem to get up." He said as he got to his feet and moved to his closet. He pulled on what looked like a flesh toned tube dress and slid off the pajamas. Within moments the fabric of the tube morphed to his form, becoming a pair of black slacks and a red button up collared shirt. He tossed another garment, the same sort, to Carol. "Here, imagine what you'd like to wear and it'll become that outfit. If it gets damaged though the damage is permanent."

She sat up, looking at the outfit in tired confusion. "Mm...alright..." Pulling the blankets over her head, she unbuttoned the shirt, dropped it on the floor, and, with difficult, squirmed into the dress. She then slid off the pants, dropping them with the shirt, and pictured a simple light blue sundress (she was too tired to imagine much else). The garment shifted and she threw off the blanket, stretching with a yawn.

Jin smirked, "Cute. Come on now, we should be going." There was a light knock on the door, and Jin ignored it. "Sue will be joining us for a while, I hope you don't mind. She seemed to be the least offensive of the people working here."

Sue slowly pushed the door open "Jin...?" He gave he a nod and she stepped in. Sue had tied her hair back in a messy bun, and was probably the most covered she'd been in decades. She'd chosen a pair of heavy black boots, a pair of cameo pants, and a tight beige t-shirt that showed off her smooth stomach.

"Sue may not look it, but she's fairly good to have along. Handy with magic and a defensive fighter."

Carol moved to Jin's side, looking up at him with curious eyes. In the dress, she looked like a well-endowed high school student eyeing her older boyfriend. "Will you tell me what we're doing now?"

"Rescuing you a tutor." Jin said, forcing himself to look away. "Let's head out." He said as he brushed past Sue and headed down the hall to a large open window. "Carol, are you ready to learn to use those wings? He asked as he stood on the windowsill, facing her. "Sue will guide you, I'll fly below in case you fall."

There was a quick flash and Diah appeared at her side. "And I'll be there when he misses."
She rolled her eyes, but a smile crossed her face. "Is it easy?"
"Fairly."
"Okay..."

Jin shook his head, "You've already proved yourself pretty useless. Why don't you stay here and babysit Elias. The place we're going isn't for angel's eyes anyway."

He glared at Jin. "I'm not to leave her side from now on." His arm circled her waist and he pulled her close. "She's my child." In truth, he still hadn't received an okay to up his protection, but he was doing it anyway. No way was he going to sit by because the heavens worried something might happen.

"Then do some good and protect her." Jin hissed as he let himself fall backwards out the window, his wings spreading.

Sue gave a sigh and took Carol's hand. "Diah, let go of her." She said softly, "She need to learn, right?" She said coaxingly as she gently pulled Carol towards the window.

He raised his eyebrows, his arm dropping to his side a bit reluctantly. "That was a rather hostile reaction, even for him."
Carol glanced at Diah a bit worriedly but allowed Sue to lead her.

"Well, he sees Carol as being 'his'. He doesn't like to share." she explained as she stepped up on the window, a pair of soft dirty-gray wings spreading. "Ready Carol?"

"She's been mine a lot longer," he pointed out.
After a moment of figuring exactly how to move the wings, they spread. Her wings were an impressive size, and pure white, with almost a sparkle to them. "Wow..." she murmured, admiring them. "These are beautiful."
"Don't say that too much," Diah grinned. "You sound vain."
"So, Sue...Will I just glide or...?"

"At first, once you start loosing height you'll need to pump them."

"You won't be able to leave the grounds with those showing though, hell's not the place for and angel. Fly as far as the stone wall and we'll walk from there." Jin said from the window. "Hurry now, you're taking too much time."

Sue rolled her eyes, "You'll do fine. Ready?"

She grumbled, "Jeeze, another one of his moods..." She moved to the window edge and looked down, frowning. "And if I fall, this won't...re-kill me?"

"Jin will catch you, don't worry. But no, you're much more durable now. It'll still hurt though, so try to avoid it."

She took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and stepped off. The wind caught her wings and pulled her up with a rather sudden jerk and she gasped, her eyes flying open. She glided a ways, then gave her wings a few pumps and touched down, Diah moments behind her.
"Excellent job," he said with a grin, ruffling her hair. His eyes trailed over her wings. "Can I?"
"If you want."
He stroked the feathers softly, marveling at them. "You know only the most powerful angels have pure white wings?"
"Really?" This surprised her. Jin had said she'd be powerful, but it still came as a shock that might have actually been right.
"Yeah. The closer you are to white, the more power it signifies." He brought one of his own wings around to show her. "I'm pretty close, but still got a ways to go." The pale blue-grey of his wings almost looked white, but it was still fairly obvious they were blue.
"Why are mine sparkly?" She asked.
"Don't know. I haven't seen that before. Perhaps because you're not a full-fledged angel yet."
"Is it good or bad?"
"Like I said, don't know. Either way, it's pretty."

"More likely it's because she isn't heaven bound as most angels are." Jin said, his tone bitter. He was clearly not happy about having to drag Diah around too.

"Jin, cheer up." Sue said as she hugged his arm to her chest. "Ad how come Diah can't teach her?"

"Because first, Diah's a guardian, not a fighter, second, he isn't under my control, and third, I have someone in particular in mind for this."

Diah glanced at Carol, noticing her almost dissapointed gaze towards Jin and Sue. He wrapped his arm around her once more and she smiled, placing her hand on his. "She is heaven bound...there's just been a detour."

"No no, not bound as in heading there, bound as in attatched, or controlled by." He corrected irritably, tensing up.

Sue looked between them with a frown, "Let's get moving, we're in a hurry right?" Jin nodded and turned heading out through the gate.

"Marcus will be meeting us along the way with a quicker means of transportation." he informed.

Carol also frowned, and she slid out from Diah's arm, taking his hand and pulling him over to Jin. She then grasped Jin's hand as well. Her smile returned as she lightly swung her arms.

Jin cast her a glare, but it quickly faded into an 'I give up' sort of smile. Sue took Jin's other hand, happier now.

In the distance something was coming at them, fast. A large black something kicking up dust. "There's Marcus... How showy."

Carol grinned at him, then turned to the "black something". "Is that a car?" She asked, sounding a bit worried.

"Not quite." Jin smiled as a large black carriage trimmed in gold pulled up next to them. "Marcus is a very old fashioned man."

Marcus weas sitting at the front, steering the horses. He was wearing a smooth black outfit complete with a cape and hat. Elias was at his side, looking grumpy. Marcus had cuffed him to the handrail.

"Oh...Well I suppose that's better than a car." She let both men's hands slide from hers and she cautiously moved to the horses. "Are they safe? Can I pet one?"

"Do you not like cars?" Jin asked letting her go.

"They're very friendly." Marcus said as the horses shook their manes and stamped impatiently. He pulled an apple out of hie cloak and tossed it to her.
