@ Sho-
Trust me, SC4 is a fantastic game, But SC3 is just to darn good
The character customization has just suffered really badly in SC4. Only because you can only create a character who has the exact same moves as one of the main characters.
You make a point though about watching the same custscene over and over but with different people in it. SC3 kinda did that, But not as bad as SC4 does :gonk:
I reckon though, even if it was Todd Mcfarlene or however his name goes, They should have brought back Necrid. and a PINK DARTH VADER! :illgetu:

I finally rented Soul Calibur IV and I was utterly disappointed, as a long time fan of the series. The story mode was terrible, not just in the way it played out but in the way it was written. I can easily say that, in my opinion, Soul Calibur IV had some of the worst game writing I've seen in a LONG time - both in terms of content and grammar/spelling/translation.
It takes about a day of messing around to unlock all the clothes for custom characters; a lot of the clothing is not time period appropriate, which really broke immersion for me.
Back when I originally rented it, I had a lot more to say, but I've mostly blocked it all out of my mind, I think. XD I can commend the game on its graphics, at least, although I have to say they didn't have the "WOW!"-factor that SCIII did when it first came out. SCIV's graphics are just another drop in the bucket after games like MGS4 and Mass Effect.

Hmm... I agree with whoever said the female characters in Soul Calibur 4 look really unrealistic. The body proportions are way out. As a side note, am I the only person who thinks Ivy's ass in the trailer looks like it has cellulite on it?
Anyway, I enjoy the character creation/customization system of the Soul Calibur for pretty much the same reason I enjoy Menewsha, I guess. I just like coming up with outfits and dressing people in them
I don't own the game, so I haven't played the story mode, but it's a pretty fun game to play with friends. Good for your visual-motor coordination and reflexes, but doesn't require much thought.
All in all, I like the improvements to the graphics, but in terms of how it compares to Soul Calibur 3, I don't see much progress so far. I'll have to play more to say anything substantial, I guess.

Oh, I noticed something about the PS3 version.
If you install the game data, the option is found in the options menu,
It loads fights almost instantly, Exceptions being fights of 1vs many etc,
It really makes a difference.
The game has grown on me from my initial opinions on it. But it still has some flaws I think...

A dissapointment through and through i would say whats wrong with it but everything i would have said has been said already.
I wanted to use those dual katanas in a custom character even if they are rip off cervantes they look cool! xD
also the story just doesn't compare in any way what so ever i thought the tower of lost souls was an expantion of SCIII's chronicals of the sword which was epic!
so i have very little nice things to say aboute it its fun playing with friendsthough thats for sure. as for online i think the people at namco expected people to focus more online then the actualy story of the game so they got lazy little did they know all the real fans would get fed up with online in aboute a week thanks to all the kilik spammers xD
