I'm one of those people that never stick with JUST one type of clothing style. I incorporate bits of others into my outfits, which sometimes results in really weird clothing. I always like what I come up with, but I get lots of odd looks whenever I go somewhere.
I don't fit into the stereotypical 'attitude' that seems to go with a lot of different clothing styles, usually happy, even if I'm wearing 'goth', 'punk' or 'emo' clothing, and kind of shy, even if I'm wearing one of the more outlandish things I come up with. ^^
I like to mix chained, loose-fitting pants with flared, sometimes ruffled mini-skirts, and either a cute vintage/anime T-shirt or a mesh-sleeved and necked shirt together. Candy-striped, bright coloured or rainbow armwarmers and knee-socks with a pair of platform boots or wood-sole, cut-out-heel ballet lace-ups. Funky, fuzzy or extremely delicate jewellery, odd and/or home-altered ties and weird hats make good accessories. Long and spiked or lolita-inspired hairstyles are usually what I do, if I don't leave my hair straight down my back. I like to wear dramatic, sci-fi or fantasy-inspired makeup styles, or sometimes I'll wear no makeup at all, depending on what mood I want to set. This usually results in me almost literally 'painting' my face, especially around my eyes, to get the look I want. I've never had to use much makeup, though.
Finally, I like to create 'themes' for my outfits on occasion. Sometimes I'll have an outfit styled after a videogame or anime character, or something inspired by a song I like. Two of my faves are an "Organization XIII - Axel" look and a "My Immortal" look. Usually no one but myself knows what I'm modeling my clothes after, but that's perfectly alright.
Okay, now you've read about MY weirdness....so now it's YOUR turn.
What is your personal style? Do you like styling your outfits after certain things, or do you just toss things together until you find something you like?
This is NOT just for girls, either. Guys, your opinion matters, too!

My personal style is whatever I grab. xD It's usually jeans and a t-shirt, but I do wear skirts. I LOVE black and white stripes. Stripes are amazing. Stripes are God. LOL. So yeah, that's pretty much it, though. My only requirement is no pink. ^^;

Stripes ARE heavenly, aren't they? ^^
I don't particularly like pink either, but for some things, it works really, REALLY well. A lolita-inspired outfit does great with black as the main colour, then purple and pink accents. Just enough to make you look girly, not enough to overload. x_x

I love gypsy/ren-faire type clothing, with the long ruffled sleeves and corseted-style tops and all that. I'd wear it more often if I didn't work in an elementary school - I'd hate to get paste and marker and other things all over pretty clothes like that.
I also still love punk and goth style clothing. I almost never wear it, but I still love it. I traipse into Hot Topic every now and then just to see if there's something I can't resist. I love their loud plaid pants with chains and straps everywhere. Someday I'll splurge and buy a pair.
I also love handknits. I just made myself a lacy shrug in some gorgeous jewel-toned cotton that looks great with tank tops and jeans. I've got tons of scarves that I wear in winter regardless of whether or not I've got a jacket on too. And I love cardigans, shrugs, anything made out of yarn that you can snuggle into.
Oh, and loud shoes. I've got a bunch of Rocket Dog flats in a variety of loud and obnoxious prints, including three or four pairs in skull and crossbone pirate/rainbow prints. I try to kind of match them to what I'm wearing, but even if they don't match - well hell, I have PIRATE shoes on. What do I care about matching? :D

@Yunimori: Pink looks okay with some things, but I still dislike it with a passion. xP
@Masquerade: Ooo! I love the faerie type clothing too. Those are the type of skirts I wear and such. I love wearing historical "costumes". Makes me feel...idk. magical almost. ^^

I'm like Masquerade, i'm very what i call New Age style, although i've never heard it called ren-faire before. I'll incorperate gems and crystals into my attire a lot, which people often think is a little different.
I don't own much clothing in that style though, because it's really hard to find. I tend to improvise with carefully selected high street clothes.
Generally though, i'm a style chameleon. I'm not keen on wearing the same kind of thing day in day out. One thing that is a staple in my wardrobe, is my bell necklace. I made it myself, taking the little bell from a chocolate Lindtt easter rabbit, and threading it on a black rope like fabric. It often causes interest to people who i'm just meeting.
As for make up, i don't wear it at all. I'm to lazy to faff with it every day.

Masquerade: Gypsy clothing is great for summer and autumn, and did you know that you can pair gypsy-style tops with punk pants and look wonderful?
You knit!? That's awesome! I've attempted to learn more than once, but my fingers always flub up. XD
Librus: lol, I can understand why. Pink has gotten a negative image as of late. There's no problem about hating certain colours, though. It's when someone starts attacking others wearing the hated colour that there's a problem. X3
Sun: Home-made and improvised accents is what defines 'personal style'! Even if it's just something little, it's YOU.

t-shirt and jeans. Just because I don't have time to think about what I wear. If I had a little more time and money I would get mostly vintage stuff.

Eh. I've always hated pink, though. It's fine on others, just not on me. lol
@Sun:
Is that what they call it? New Age? Hmm. Explains why I dress so much like my new age/ eclectic neighbors. xD

I've been meaning to check into that faith/idea (I'm not quite sure what they consider themselves) anyways. It sounds pretty sweet. ^^ lol.
And no, I'm not so superficial as to be interested only because of the clothes. lol!
But clothes ARE amazing.

my personal style is permanent.
Shirts must be either large or extra large (aka a size too big), pants can not be jeans, but most other stuff is okay, but must be plain, and must have pockets and loops for a belt. socks have to be white, eto~... oh... and hat is a must.
Aka - Very boring. The only thing I get compliments on are the witty comments on my shirts XD

My personal style is mostly comfortable. I try to be somewhat stylish as well and my clothes generally look good on me. I am really into horizontal stripes right now. =9
I also love summer because I get to wear a tank top and shorts and not look like I'm not trying hard enough. ^w^

I grab whatever I can to wear, but normally it is a black T-shirt with some print on it, black pants, or jean pants, a trenchcoat (this one is dependent on what i am wearing, and the season, for I have 8...) and sometimes a collar/chocker (has 4). As for it all, I wear sandals as much as I can too.

I am going through a green phase at the moment, and I like nautical stuff.
I like really bright tops, stripes and spots are cool. With Jeans, Skirts or Shorts.
Sometimes I end up looking like a bit of a hippy, sometimes I look like I am straight out of the 1920's (according to my nephew.)
I kind of do themes like someone else mentioned, not a specific character but different styles.
I used to dress, kind of gothy, emo didn't really exist then like it does now but looking back I would say it was a bit emo too. That influences what I like now too.

I can't tell you how many times I've went to hot topic and bought a skull purse, and then to claire's and got rainbow socks or something just a bright and sunny. I love to contrast colors with blacks, and the skulls just happen to be on things I like most. It's not that I particularly like skulls...or that I want to be goth or whatever. I just like the look of things that usually involve a skull.
I'm funny when it comes to clothing. Some of my stuff is dark and creepy, and some of it is wild and colorful. Heck, some of my stuff could be considered part of the "thug" scene, but I'm not really any of those things. I hate how people think that clothes have something to do with you attitude. It's ridiculous.
I wish I could sew, really. Because I have a very unique style in my head, and I really can't get it out with the clothes i can afford. I really want this book that shows you how to change a t-shirt into anything and everything. It even had arm sock and leg warmer patterns. That would be so much help. There's only light sewing involved...I think i could handle it.
I also want to design clothes. If I didn't get to go into animation, I would really like to get into some fashion. I've designed outfits for spanish projects, and everyone wanted to wear mine. I guess everyone wants to dress like the people in movies and cartoons, but It just isn't available. I think starting a business that makes clothes like that would be profitable. Either way...enough ranting.

hehe...sounds like everyone has their own personal style...i suppose if you think about it...how did they come up with "emo", "goth", "punk", etc...someone decided to do things a lil different...my most recent way of dressing is to wear a thin long sleeved shirt under a spaghetti strap shirt and then throwing on either a skirt or dark pair of jeans...my motto is "if it isn't comfortable...i don't care how cool i'll look...i won't wear it"

I love anything with cute designs on it.
I don't really care much for the colour, but as long as there's like cute little hearts/stars/decorations, I would want it almost immediately.
I hate things with words like "I'm Hot" or "Sexy" or anything with words, I hate it @a@;;; Even numbers. I like my shirts/pants to be word free.

I guess I like brand name stuff and wearing t-shirts and jeans.
I also like the combination of black and white or other colors like green and yellow or black and red!
