Digital media is a major? My niece is interested in graphics stuff...I'll have to suggest that as a possibility to her. She also likes to do web design, so maybe it would fit in nicely?
My major was computer science and math... I've always liked art, but have never taken any classes. I just doodle a lot. I've been thinking about taking some painting classes if I can find something fairly close to home.

It is! ^^
It encompasses things like 3-D modeling (such as videogames and animation, like pixar), as well as concept art.
I'm not sure if web-design is part of digital media or communication arts, but I think we cover motion graphics.

I think that web design is ok, but as a career it probably wouldn't be too good. So many people are capable of good web design these days. It would be a good sideline.
However, if you can do the 3d digital graphics for gaming and stuff, that's the way to go it seems to me.
You have to be really creative to be an artist. I can handle a brush or pencil, but I don't have that spark of creativity in me that I think an artist needs.

What I do to get inspiration is listen to music. It's almost always music that inspires me to create a character/piece of art. Sometimes it's not, but often it is~
Sometimes it's just looking through deviantART or someone else's portfolio.

Ooooh, that is pretty awesome xD
I started off at my old university as a Graphic Design major, then I decided to get out of it cuz I hated my basic drawing class. Soo xDD I ended up transferring to another university. Undecided as of now, but I'm thinking of Japanese as a major, possibly xD
Haha, I'm looking to get a pair of those glasses, that was the only New Years item, correct? They look like they might be hard to get ahold of >_<;

In art school, do they train you in certain methods (like the classics or modern art)? The only art class I ever took, if you didn't do exactly what the teacher wanted, you got a barely passing grade. That's when I decided it wasn't for me.
What is concept art?

Jean:. Well, in Foundation year, my school teaches the basics, meaning, you are pretty limited in what you can do. You need to learn to draw the figure accurately, so no style really shows there. Most other classes are similar. It's important to learn the rules before you can break them.
Basically, you don't get to use much of your style until you hit your second year, when you start going into your major.
NOT doing what I want to do actually has helped me, even with my stylized works, which I thought was pretty neat.
Concept Art
Basically illustrations to convey an idea. This could be anything from a background for something, or a character design for a video game.

Reading HW I almost forgot about. The chapter is longer and more boring than I thought, but I'm almost done with it XD

I can handle miss-matched shoes as long as it's the exact same shoe, just in a different color XD

Platynum - I had wondered how you got different shoes.
I have mismatched socks. Unfortunately sometimes not on purpose :) .
Sometimes it's required to have them...especially when the dryer eats one of your socks..

Oh, vans are comfortable. I don't really know what I want. I like boots more than anything, but nothing too pointy/high.
LOL! My drier ate some of my socks yesterday. The poor lonely socks are sitting on my bed, missing their significant other ;_;

Look up the sleeve of your blouses or up the leg of your pants.
One time I lost a sock, and it fell out of my pant leg when I went to the store.
lol...good thing it wasn't a panty!

ROFL!! Thing is, I always take off my socks before removing my pants. XD
The socks go IN together, but don't always come out that way >_<
I can just picture it.
Person 1: Hey look, a random sock on the floor!
Person 2: *looks* Oh, that's mine! *picks it up, gets stared at, and walks away*

Oooh, I mis-match my socks all the time, on purpose.
My only thing is that they are the same height of sock, otherwise it feels to weird.
I've not mis-matched my shoes yet, but I do have a few pairs of those awesome Slip-On Vans that I could do this with, though only one pair is probably the only ones I should wear out in public (the others are pretty dirty/got holes in them).
On another note, Mr. Mayor gave me a gold increase. o.o
