Any weather that
I can swim in would
be peachy. <3

:insane:

I have this odd
relationship with
swimming. I'm
morbidly afraid
of anything in the
water, but I love
ocean water so
much that I can't
stay out of it.

Yeah, true as long as you can swim, you don't mind right.

XD Awesome about the odd relationship with swimming. Well, hopefully it will become summer for you soon.

Hello all...

I've been off reading. When I get caught up in a book, everything else just goes away.

Well, this one was your fault, you know :)

I was telling you about the Mercedes Lackey Valdemar series. To get the names right, since I hadn't read it for awhile, I got the book down. Then it was all over. I'm now in the process of re-reading the entire series.

Which one are you on right now? My favorites were the Vanyel books, personally. And the ones with Tarma and Kethry.

I kinda started in the middle with the basic Queen's Own (Talia and Dirk). Then continued to By the Sword (Kerowyn... Kethry's granddaughter). I debated just going to the start, but I wanted to continue the whole Elspeth line. Then I'll go back and read the earlier ones.

Reading them in the order written, then?

Kinda like I always did with the Narnia books, never started with Magician's Nephew.

It's the order that I bought them in years ago.... hard to change habits.

I know what you mean. And the Vanyel ones were the first ones I read. Well, my Dad read them with me when I was a kid.

Both my parents used to read with me. Mom read Chaim Potok's The Chosen with me, Dad read me sci-fi-fantasy like Ender's Game...

I do remember when I was a little, we used to go to the library quite a lot.
(we were poor... couldn't buy books).

The limit that you could check out was 11 books. Each week we'd go and I'd get 11 books.

I think Mom and Dad neve read to me cuz they were too busy reading themselves... :)

Yeah, I hung out at the library a lot, too. The book Matilda shows how I got on with librarians, except that my parents encouraged me a lot.

My parents aren't really the reading type XD

I'm the reader of the family. I'm trying to get my brother to read too. So I'm probing him with Harry Potter books XD

I'd like to be honest. Harry Potter wasn't bad, but I'm not sure it deserved the hype it got.

I think that Harry Potter was one of the best things to happen. It got a *ton* of kids interested in reading.

As far as stories go, they weren't bad. It was really noticable how more evolved her writing became. I thought the later ones were better written than the earlier ones.

I didn't like the last book at all, to be honest. It didn't feel true. But that's just me.

~Ish blinded by the pretty.~

Just gonna jump on into the convo you have going...

I've read tons of books. I knew most of my schools' libraries better than the librarians did. Kinda sucks that I don't really have the money to get the books I want for a while. = / College sucks in that aspect.

I'm the same way. Though my current school's library's organized by the Library of Congress system rather than Dewey Decimal. Which is messing me up.
