being a mainer, i was taught how to shoot when i was younger
but we only got to play with shotguns lol

Its just a blank area of land full of targetsand bullet shells and stuff. Nothing special at all. But still fun to shoot the guns. It had been a long time since i'd gone shooting, too. Last time I shot a gun was several years ago when I killed my deer.

I've actually never shot a shotgun, though.
But been around guns all my life, because my parents are hunters. My mom has only gone once, but my dad has hunted his whole life.

it comes in handy when times are hard, that's for sure

Yeah, its very handy. Majority of the meat we eat is what we hunted. It lasts a pretty long time and tastes pretty good, too.

I dont want to hunt again, though. I dont like killing things, so its not something I would really want to do again.

i have never shot anything or killed anything... except a bird, a woodchuck and a chipmunk i hit with my car (not all at the same time of course) and i still feel really really bad about that :gonk:

Thats understandable. I mean, its pretty devastating to accidently kill something or run it over or something. But I had intentionally killed it and it was to help get more meat for us. I got a really big white-tail and it had plenty of meat. But I still feel really guilty about it, and dont want to do it again. I mean, I dont like hurting animals, and it was just an innocent deer. It seemed like it was sweet, and the only reason I got it was because the doe he was with was really stupid, and was just kind of walking around and staring at us, and he was going to leave her. He'd probably worked really hard to get her, and he was in rutt (sp?). So I feel like I really gipped the poor guy and it makes me feel bad.

oh wow... that is like a little story all in it's own huh? hahaha
but gotta eat... i don't think i could have even done it once unless i was doing it when i was young
cause i love deer.... so pretty

I was a freshman in highschool at the time, and rather pressured by my family to hunt. I've also grown up with the "its okay to hunt when you're doing it for the food" state of mind, so I felt it was alright. Also, my grandpa was an ass and said that there was no way I could shoot a deer, but I think its just because he knew how much I love animals. Either way, at the time it felt a bit right, but now I still feel bad about it. Dont want to kill things.

And yes, I need my shower and then to bed, too. Goodnight.
