The Brave Little Toaster always scared me as a little kid. I could never make it all the way through the film.

Honestly, I was always a fan of Ferngully: The Last Rainforest.
The Brave Little Toaster was ok, but Ferngully was a masterpiece!

Ferngully is great, I love the "rap" Batty does in it. XD I couldn't get into The Brave Little toaster. I found it boring and I mean... it's a fricken toaster. Who cares if it had sad issues. I couldn't connect to it.

I love Ferngully. I own it, too. :] Watch it every now and then. Its a goodin'. ^^
And I liked The Brave Little Toaster. I guess I wasn't as sensitive to what people would be calling "depressing." I didn't think it was some depressing movie. Thought it was good.

Ferngully is a movie I have mixed feelings about. I think it's cute, but the environmental issues are seriously shoved down your throat and make me feel like I'm watching a propaganda film. D: (And that's the only thing keeping me from watching Princess Mononoke, even though it's Ghibli Studios and involves Japanese monsters/ghosts and I love that sort of thing - I hear the message is likewise pushy-shovey.) <Please also note that I of course support protection of the environment. :p>
I feel so contrary right now. :x
What about Howl's Moving Castle? Spirited Away? Just about any Disney movie? The Swan Princess? D:

Princess Mononoke actually I think incorporates the idea in a really reasonable way, and if you're mature enough, you can see that even the "villians" aren't evil, just human and greedy...wanting the best for themselves, though they go about it in a way that hurts a forest.
You only notice the message and feel like it's shoved down your throat IMO, if the message has already been shoved at you, because then you're like, "oh this shit again, uhg."
At least that's why I thought, but I'm also a rabid Miyazaki fan, and movies like Princess Mononoke I find really beautiful, and touching.
I mean, aren't most movies a little preachy here and there?

The thing is you have to step away from that kinda thing in the movie. Just watch it to have fun and laugh!
By the by, even though I ADORE Disney - they mostly jst make those movies to make money. That doesn't make me love them them any less. They are marketing geniuses!

And I used to love the magic school bus. D: My favorite character was the girl from another school. "We don't go inside human bodies at my old school."
