Hey in Alice and Daisy's thread... we have a really fun idea... with your current avi... if you have the halloween bag item with the toilet paper... add the toilet paper to your avi as it is ^_^ we want to randomly start a trend and see if anyone notices

Oh, so it's just not connecting to the internet?

I brought an ethernet cable home, hoping it'd help my internet connection better for skype, but it doesn't seem to actually work. I mean, it told me to connect to the school internet (I live in the dorms) with it, but it didn't appear to actually connect on my laptop. It was odd. Haven't quite figured it out yet. ><;;

It is in a school funded apartment... the cord goes into the wall so I can't replace it myself and no one comes back to school until Thursday so I am on my own... so here I am, in the office ^_^

Ooh. That's a bummer.
But I suppose at least you can still access the internet somewhere, at least.

Normally you go through a recruiting agency... but a friend of a friend of a friend was personally recruiting for a school and I needed a job after college... honestly think God sent me here

Yeah, that would make it rather confusing to use their computers. xP;;

I could always use the library computers if my laptop completely chose not to work, but I'd hate to have to go over there all the time. I like being home.

That sounds SO awesome! It's been on my list of things to do forever! I've always been afraid to take the leap alone though. How is it? How long have you been out there for? JEALOUS!

I've been here a year. Staying a second year. If you teach overseas, this is the place to be. The only requirement is that you have a 4 year degree. They usually hire for a year at least... March to February. You get paid about $2000 dollars or 2.0-2.2 million won.

For me, I am paid 2.2 mil won, provided an apartment, paid utilities and internet, and free cafe food. I also live on campus. Transportation here is public, cheap, and easy. If you have a masters, you are more likely to be hired. If you have teaching experience, you are more likely to be hired.

Need a passport, transcripts, and an notarized FBI background check. The latter takes two months minimum.

I have everything except for the 4 year degree lol, which is why every time I look into it, I have to look into places that don't require degrees. I went to college for Tourism & Travel with a major in World Geography, no university here

That sounds like you have it good though!! So awesome. I'm crazy jealous haha

You have a major? Isn't that a 4 year degree?

Uh nope. Maybe it's different in the States?

In Canada, at least we're I live, we can major in one subject by taking more courses on that specific subject itself. So I took the 2 year program in Tourism and Travel and I took online courses and night courses as well as an extra year to study World Geography. The problem is, there wasn't really a "World Geography" course, I took various courses about geography and the world (and a bit of history). I could have went to University but the only one in our city only studied geography about rocks and crap...not my thing. Then I was contemplating moving for school, but instead got a job that paid well so I stuck with it.

The boyfriend on the other hand went to University for 5 years and got a degree in History & Law and Justice, and now he's going to school for Museum Studies...professional student imo.

Thanks :)! While I totally think school is UBER important, I really feel that you learn way more by actually doing it. Seeing and traveling the world, learning cultures, speaking languages, meeting people and making connections, imo is worth more than additional years of education!

I have been looking into TEFL courses though, might take one and see if I can get a teaching gig in South America! That would be heavenly!

Do you get to see your family much?
