Well, it does depend on what kind of taxes you're talking about.
As far as tax burden, an article states that Jersey is.
"New Jersey residents paid 11.8%, topping the charts. New Yorkers were close behind, paying 11.7%, and Connecticut was third at 11.1%. The top 10 were rounded out by Maryland (10.8%), Hawaii (10.6%), California (10.5%), Ohio (10.4%). Vermont (10.3%), Wisconsin (10.2%) and Rhode Island (10.2%)."
However, it was last updated in January and everyone's gone through a recent tax increase lately.

According to Forbes, New York City is the most expensive City in America to live in (only 44th in the world though), LA is number 2, and San Francisco is number 5.

And happy earth day everyone!

Currently playing with my avatar right now, and I was wondering if we're only limited to trees, and if we're not allowed to do bushes/shrubs/etc. xDD;; <3<3
And slow, I like where you're going, but, I dunno about the silvers you're using, to be honest. ^^;; Doesn't seem very... tree-like. xDD;;

I'm liking yours slow! I agree with Ry though, maybe use gold instead of silver? It's go better with the mushrooms anyway, and I think there are gold counterparts for all the silver items you're using.

Seiki: How can you know that without living there? XD
I've lived in New York, and it's not bad. There's always something going on, which is cool, but it's so grim and gray. Get's depressing in the winter. I always thought I wanted to live in New York until I actually lived there, and then I was happy to get away. I prefer Boston (where I live now). It's just a much friendlier city.
Never lived in LA, but the people I know who either do or have complain about it a lot. There's no good public transportation and it's hard to get around. It can easily take two hours just to get from one part of the city to another. Friend of my brother lives only a mile from a stadium, but there's a highway in between his place and the stadium so he can't walk there or ride a bike there, and he can't drive directly there. He has to get on the highway, take it a bit in one direction, get off, then get back on going the other direction, and get off at the stadium exit.
One of my best friends lives in San Francisco though, and she loves it. I'm thinking about moving there.
Slowtrain: Love your tree choice. ^-^ Your avie is nice, though I do agree that the silver doesn't really match the tree, and, really, it seems a bit out of place on your avie. Also, you have an awful lot of green in your avie, but there's not really any green on your chosen tree. Finally, why the lollipop?
What do you guys think of mine? I'm representing a first snow on fall leaves. I don't have a specific reference, but something like this.

Because seriously, I would have the smallest apartment in the stinky part of the city if I were to move there right now. I just love the glamour and the lifestyle that New York affords those who can afford it. The biggest reason I love New York is because it's a very vain city, and I think it matches my personality well in multiple aspects of my life.
LA isn't too terrible. I think your friend that you know there just kind of got the bad part of it. I think with LA, you have to be one of those people who don't mind going out of your way to get somewhere or who just takes life at a slower pace. I know that LA is far from a slow city, but I find it's definitely better suited to a more easy-going personality.
slow, I love the avatar as an avatar, but I'm not liking the representation just yet. It doesn't feel complete at all if you compare it to the tree. I want more pink, and I would lose the silver.

bum de bum... any better? (cherry blossom bonsai)
I had the lollypop because I wanted to get some width, since bonsai trees grow outwards rather than upwards mostly xD
buuuuut that didn't really work
and the green was there because there are some flecks of green on the tree, but I got rid of most of it ^^

Any advice on mine? D:

Cami, I like the idea, but are you going for snow on a fall tree or leaves that are on the ground?

Whoops! Forgot to reply to the posts above me. xDD;;
@ Cami : Interesting concept. =O <3 Not sure about the bare leg area though. Love the snow+leaves though. :>
@ slow : Yeah, it needs more pink. ^^;; I think some on the leg area would be nice, since the hanky(?) and hairpin leave pink on your top and middle, while there's none on the bottom. Lovely though. :>
@ Suona : Cute! :3 You should so apply for next season's cycle. =P <3<3

And guys, here's what I have so far:

It's supposed to represent a Mango Tree:

The Chickies at the bottom show fallen mangoes. No real ref for that though. :x But yeah, chickies = mangoes. xDD;;
Thoughts? :> <3<3

Ryllyne: I love the chickies as mangoes. XD I think I prefer the second one, though the light green in the hat is a bit off.
My legs are the trunk. I tried putting some black lace up shoes on (and tattoos on the face) to add texture to the wood, but it looked a bit off. I'll show you though.
