I just joined last christmas, so all my stuff is still quite fresh
And that sounds like it would be quite sad indeed. It always bites when something like that happens.

I did the same thing on Gaia, really. I joined right after the first Halloween (those items are all worth millions now) and since it was my first avatar site, I didn't realize monthly items existed. I could have easily gotten my fair share of '03 MCs, but now I only have one that a friend donated to me last year. But I'm not really into Gaia anymore, so I guess it doesn't matter. XD

The furthest my posts go back is to the beginning of my twilight thread, which I've been terribly neglecting : (

I work at an association for copy machine dealers. I'm officially the associate editor of the association's magazine, which means I edit and write stories, lay out the magazine, get all the ads in order, make final proofs and send everything to the printer. Not only that, but I do website updates, edit and post articles online for our weekly e-newsletter, set up the newsletter and send it out and create most of our promotional pieces (ads, postcards, trifold cards, posters/signs, etc.) we send out or publish.

I stay busy. :lol:
Wow, that sounds cool! :D

And I'll have the new challenge up in a bit you guys. I'm starving and I haven't had anything to eat yet. I've been up for almost 12 hours DX
If it saves you any time, you don't really have to say anything to them if it's report-worthy. Whatever mod deals with it will have to talk to them anyway. xD
But if it's not report-worthy, you'd be helping so much by answering questions and such. ^^; NO ONE READS THE DAMN FAQ. D:

I clearly remember being ridiculously embarrassed when I first joined and I double posted in my exchange thread (to get it higher) and a mod came in and told me it wasn't allowed. I didn't even get a warning, just a kind reminder to read the rules. And I still felt humiliated. XD

I'm sure! If I ever got in trouble, I'd want to go hide in a hole for a while. ><
I'm still paranoid of fucking up. xD Yesterday I banned a user, but first I triple checked with other staff. xD and I was STILL paranoid about having been incorrect. I wasn't, but I was afraid I was. xD

I don't think I ever got a real warning for anything, but I was frightened when I got a PM about misplacing my thread back when yanyan was a mod (and was wearing his underpants bunny-girl outfit. XD)

Re: Challenge - Oh hale, this is gonna be hard.
I remember how it goes Cherry, no worries. I know its been a while, but I remember the TekTek v1.0 and how hard that was for us at the time. I don't think we had any idea what we were going to be up against when Josh told us he was going to advertise on TekTek. That first lash of new users was horrible (not all of them) for the staff to keep up with. I think I gave out the most warnings I'd ever given during that time.

Not saying that the first round of TekTek advertising wasn't any good or that we didn't get anyone good from it. CK was from that first round of newcomers from the TekTek advertising and look where she's at now. Not a lot of people gave it as much credit as it deserved. Even now with conversations in Site Feedback and Community Discussion, there are people who are mad at the staff for things that they're saying about advertising on TekTek and how they feel its not as good a place to advertise or whether or not they should give it more credit. They really should give it more credit, but just accept that its going to take a lot of work to make sure that people are just made aware of the rules.

And really? I would have thought that this challenge would be your favorite? XD

Haha, yan was funny then. When he started getting promoted, he stopped talking to me. Last time I said anything to him, or vice versa was when I got fired. Not a fun time for me DX

I always used to feel bad about giving warnings to people. Sometimes you would just know that it was a mistake but that they had had the slap on the wrist warnings before and had no other choice. I really did prefer not to give out warnings if I could help it.

I've never been a fan of warning people, but it's part of the job as a mod. We also have switched things up so people get 0-point warnings before real warnings for most of the minor rule-breaking.

I'm glad to be on the ECT now though. XD; I was always a bit too lenient.

I always wanted to be on the ECT. I loved being on Mene's staff, but I truthfully hated being a mod. I'm just not the kind of person who punishes people. I wanted to nicely tell people that they messed up, and that wasn't the accepted process then.

@Cami: *shrugs* I was never super mean to anyone, even warning, but I did use a pretty firm tone. XD

The ECT is kind of slow sometimes, but I do enjoy it a lot. :)

Just saying that I feel bitter sometimes, but its fine. I won't deny it was better for everyone involved that I'm not staff anymore.

Cami, you should try this!

Plus, you have a back-up plan for if newspapers die. XD

But really, just being able to write doesn't do much good if you have nothing to write about.
I've heard the same thing. ^^;; And the opposite thing, in fact. =P And both have very good arguments (although I just woke up so I'm not in the right state of mind to recall and type said arguments xDD). So it's hard to know which one to believe. 8DD;; But, I would like to think that just because Journalism is my major, it won't mean that I won't have anything substantial to write about because all I took was a writing course. xDD;;

Part of being a journalist is having a general knowledge of things, first and foremost. :> And then you start to specialize. ^^ And who says that all journalists do is write for newspapers/magazines? xDD;;

And, if ever I do decide that journalism isn't what's right for me (even though I do think it is right now xDD), then I can always take up Law instead, as journalism is considered a pre-law course, and I'm also into that, if I think about it. =P

Anyhows, yay for a new challenge! :'D <3<3
This one is hard though. xDD;; So, good luck to all you contestants! :>

Ferra: I like it. ^-^

Ryl: They're not, certainly, and we don't know how things will change in the next twenty years either. But I work in the writing/publishing industry, and I know it's hard to find jobs right now.

In any case, you should be doing something now, like writing a blog (and not a journal type blog. A blog with a real subject and purpose). It'll give you a heads up when you get into the industry. You also definitely want to take some tech classes.

Seiki: How far have you gotten on your rubik's cube?

@ Ferra : Lolz~ xDD;; That just made me laugh, since you saying you're flexible relates to the whole play-dough theme. 8DD;;

@ Cami : Ohh, I see. =O Interesting then. :3 Cool~ ^^

Although, for me, I don't plan on jumping straight into magazines though. xDD;; Might try and apply for something broader, such as the communications industry in general. ^^;; Or, I dunno. I'm still two years away, so I haven't put much detail on where I'll go after university. xDD;;

Hmm, thanks for the tips then! :'D <3<3 While I don't have a blog, per se, I am gonna take a "tech" class next semester. :3 Next semester's also when we learn about the details on layouting and all that shizz~ xDD;; So, I'm excited. =)
