Well, for your sake, I hope you don't get sick again...

But the swine flu is just like the regular flu, so if you take care of yourself, there shouldn't be any problem anyways... XP

I love how the news makes people freak out over the flu x.x

I've been trying to get more sleep than usual (and since I sleep a lot anyway, that's quite a bit, at least compared to everyone else at this school). I seem to be doing okay. I think I feel some sort of headache coming on, but that might just be stress.

:lol: No kidding! The media makes it seem like such a scare, when it isn't really... :roll:
Ah, the media...

I have a headache coming on too... Bleh.

But sleep is good! Make sure to stay rested up. :D

@Hime/Anthy: That book was epic and awesome. The movie was cool too, but I liked the book more.

The book was indeed quite excellent. xD I had that six-books-in-one-volume book, but I only ever read through the first one. The whale chapter was awesome. xD My biggest disappointment about the movie was that the doors did not talk. D: I loved the doors. xD I really do need to reread it though. It's been a while.

I think the biggest thing about the H1N1 virus that scares people is that younger folks are dying from it, moreso than older folks. My understanding is that it's actually an old strain of the flu virus that old folks got used to, but it disappeared for a while, because of natural selection. And now, probably due to natural selection and the direction of our vaccines, it's resurfaced. It is just a regular flu; it's just a flu we're not accustomed to, and so our bodies aren't sure how to fight it.

/smarty pants xD

@sizzla- you must be a reader, only a reader claims the book to be better then the movie xP

it seems that readers are far and few between.

Yeah Anthy, I've tried reading the other books (because I've got the anthology), but I couldn't manage it for some reason. I should go back and reread all of them, now that I think about it.

@Misa: I was a huge reader up until I went to college, and then I stopped reading for fun until this year, when I started the 50 Book Challenge (the thread is in Menewsha Nation). I love books though, that's for sure. This year I've managed to get through 27 books so far, and I'm in the middle of two more. I've got plans to hit at least 30, though I have a feeling I may reach 40 by the time my 'year' is up in February. :D

I think you'll find quite a few readers if you hit up the 50 Book Challenge thread. They have a lot of recommendations too, if you're interested in books. :D

Man... I wish I had the time to read like I used to. *__* I tell you what, community college was a breeze. Of course, most of my work was coding then, and that stuff was easy to do either in class or right before class started. >>;; Can't do that so much now. xD I probably could have taken some time to read the last couple of days I've been holed up in my room, but... I haven't done much of anything really the last couple of days. lol. I'd like to go back and reread my Anita Blake and Merry Gentry series. I think there's a new Merry coming out soon... ;_; Now that, I will take time to sit down and read, regardless. xD /fail

Here's the thread Misa: http://www.menewsha.com/forum/commun...-you-dare.html
:D

And they were just talking about Anita Blake in there Anthy. XD You should go have a chat with them. XD I haven't read any of her stuff, but recently I've been reading the Southern Vampire/Sookie Stackhouse books. All thanks to True Blood. :lol:

I've heard good and bad about True Blood. It seems like people either love the show or hate it. I've not read/watched any of it, so I wouldn't know. Anita Blake starts out freakin' amazing. xD It's... fallen mostly to sex with some action in between, and the last book was a bit of a disappointment, but I think she's trying to get too much out by the deadline. I'm hoping she slows down and gets back to more plot next book. A big baddie just got squashed, so we've got to be getting into new plot soon.

I... may swing by, just to talk about Hamilton's work. xD The last place I posted about it, I never got any response, but if the thread is more active...

:lol: I LOVE IT. True Blood that is. It inspired me to read the books, which are also highly entertaining and quick reads. They're quite different from the show, which makes me like them even more. I still get to be surprised by what happens in the show, which is great.

They were saying that Blake has a lot of sex in her books. XP

Go try posting there... Read back a page or two -- I think the conversation may have moved on a bit, but you can always go quote someone. :D

Again, only watched the series not read the book.

As a matter of fact, I haven't read a novel since I came out of high school and moved to University.

But now!!!

I did read back and post an insanely long post. xD

Blake started out without the sex. I was totally drawn into the characters and the plot right from the start. Richard, one of the love interests, does this... total change, though, and it started a change in the feel of the books, and in the characters. I haven't liked them as much, but I'm hooked now, you know? XD There's enough plot to keep my hanging tight. The end of the last book disappointed me a bit, but it makes for some huge implications of what's to come. So, I'm excited for the next book, regardless. If you want sex, Merry Gentry has sex. And it's a totally different feel from what I'm used to "sex" books being. xD It works with the plot and furthers it, save for a few "candy" scenes here or there. The take on sex is totally different too, which I think helps make it more enjoyable for me. I generally dislike sex-y books, but I love Merry.

I might have to look into True Blood then... You know, when I have time again. 9_9;

EDIT: Go Hime Go! xD Get to readin'! D: TEAR UP THAT LIBRARY!!

I'm currently in the process of rereading the Hitchhiker's series. It's reached a short pause after the first three books because someone doesn't wish to return the next two to the library.

Anthy: It's worth pointing out that lots of people have died from the flu, especially before we had vaccines.

@Cami
This is true. And older folks do die from it yearly. Perhaps younger folks who are unable to get proper medical treatment. The big hype, though, is that the deaths have been younger folks. (Though, I suppose my understanding could be flawed/cynical) XD

It's evil of them to not return the books. D: I really should get back into reading them... I think I gave my big volume to Sally though.

Oh, Cami! You know what's sad? On that comic... I totally missed that he didn't say @#$%!! Like... It didn't even occur to me that the word was actually there until I saw a comment about it in one of Sohmer's blogs. How sad is that?

Anthy: I didn't notice until I read that blog either. XD No worries.

We've had discussions about this topic before (the one discussed in the comic), so you know how I feel. I loved that he actually said something about it. It's so frustrating working in creative fields and watching how no one cares about intellectual property or how many people put how much work into these products that they feel they deserve to receive for free.

I've been doing the 50 Book Challenge since New Years, but I haven't made a post in the thread, I've just been keeping track for myself... I'm currently half way through my 42nd book for the year ^^

I'm such a reader... and the book is always better than the movie
I've read the whole of The Hitchhiker's Guide, and loved it, but I love the movie too...

Although, with True Blood and the Sookie Stackhouse novels I'm sort of appreciating them as separate things, rather than comparing them. I started watching the show before I started reading the books, and I love them both. I've only read the first four though, I can't afford to buy any more books right now xD

Awesome slow! :XD

I'll have to read all of Hitchiker's now... I'm committed. It's going on my 50 book list. XD

But first, I have to finish the Sookie series! XP I also love both the show and the books, and I appreciate that they're different. I think the show will keep me guessing in the future. I didn't start reading the books until after I watched the second season, so now I'm really wanting the show to catch up to the books! I think Dead to the World is my favorite so far (TEAM ERIC FTW!), and I've read up through book five. Definitely Dead (#6) is waiting for me, hiding out in my purse along with Mister God, This is Anna, which my boyfriend recommended to me. It's been good so far.

@Cami
I admit I've been one of those who has downloaded, and got annoyed when we suddenly were not allowed to. I understand it better now, but I discovered a lot of artists I probably wouldn't have otherwise, and I am (though sadly not lately) working to own the music legally. Ludo started as a download, and first chance I got, I bought all three of their albums. But, I do understand why it would be upsetting, and annoying, and wrong. I do see why it is considered theft. I might still complain about it, but I do understand. xD

@Sizzla
Oh, I caught you nekkid. D: But you're slowly getting dressed. xD

@Sizzla & slowtrain
I know it doesn't relate entirely, but I view the Harry Potter movies in the same way. The movies are a lot darker than the books, as the books have dark moments punctuated by humor much more than the movies. I've not read all of the books myself, but I've read about half and listened to the other half. (My mom is a fan of audio books on long trips. xD) And it's just so much easier to think of them as similar but not the same.

Yeah, I listened to all of the Harry Potter books on tape (mp3). They were great! But yes, not the same as the movies at all. I liked the books more... XD
