I don't like reading books on my laptop either, and I wish I had a nook or some kind of eReader, but I don't. I was just kind of looking to read them without having to buy them because I can't really afford to be spending money I don't have right now. But I read the first book, loved it, and then saw the movie. And then I had to see what happened next and the barnes and noble by my house was out of the second book so I just bought the rest of the series online. Got free shipping for spending more than 25 dollars haha.

I can't say for the overall series, but I did quite like the first book. And though the movie shows them as older, that's how I thought of them the whole time in the book anyways.

Seiki: Um... You spent 40 books to support the guy who spent years researching, writing, and editing those books. <<,,

When I was in high school, it was in vogue to be a lesbian.

*throws love at plat*

don't worry, I'm unloved too, we can be unloved together!

@seiki: cool, well then when I have some money to throw around I might get the first one

I read something though that described it as veerry similar to Harry Potter, only with greek mythology and urban fantasy rather than magic and pretty much pure fantasy... just the premise of boy doesn't know he's special, finds out he's special and goes away to special place where he learns how to be special with two best friends and has to search for powerful object to save the world...

Cami, I'm not against buying books. I do it all the time. Its just that right now since I don't have a job, I can't really afford to buy books as often as I used to so I wanted to download them for now just so I could read them. I would have bought the series anyways once I find a new job. Books just aren't a priority for my money right now so I was hoping to avoid it for now is all.

slow, its kind of like that. i do love that it's got a lot of greek mythology in it compared to a lot of the fantasy stuff in HP.

plat, i love you. just not enough for you to have my sweater xD

Slow: That's like the premise to every young adult or children's fantasy book. XD

I've read all four of those books, and I love them. The greek mythology stuff really is great.

Cami, a fifth was just published not too long ago. Its the only hardcover in my cart from B&N since it's not old enough for a paperback yet.

lol, yeah, I just read it on a blog where it was pretty much related almost exactly... I mean there aren't that many other books with that exact storyline just different details

whatever, I'm sure it's a good series, I just found all the similarities amusing

Slow: There may be some basic similarities, but it really isn't that close beyond very surface level details. Very different premise, characters, format, adventures, etc.

There are, after all, only a dozen possible storylines. It's how you make them different, that matters.

In other news, I have come to blow up this thread.

Cami blowing things up is like her killing me. it never works properly.

Yeah, I've only read the first book so far, but its really only the basic storyline that's similar. All the little details and subplots are a lot different from Harry Potter.

Except for my guy friends, who I always had unrequited crushes on. And I had a lot of guy friends in high school... They all rejected me though. But it would have been awkward anyway, because they really were just friends. Then I dated a gay guy. Now he's my BFF, but that was reallyyyyy awkward... He hadn't come out at that point, and I guess he was trying to date girls to see how he felt about it. Who knows. Anyway, he came out officially three or four years later, and I immediately thought, "Oh, THAT'S why that was so weird!"
Thats awesome, Sizz. :] (the staying virgin until 21)
I dont think that nearly enough people wait it out for sex. I mean, they rush and what not, and I think thats silly.

And it was kind of like that for me during high school. The only guys that liked me were friends, and that was all just awkward to me because I only saw them as friends. Then for my senior year I was in a program that had me going to the college the whole year, instead, taking full schedule of college classes and then doing a bunch of high school work on the side (busy-ass and stressful year @[email protected];; ). And as soon as I was at the college, I suddenly had all these guys that wanted me! At one point, I could count at least 10 people that I knew of that wanted to date me. My total crap feeling about no one ever really wanted me went down after that. Haha. Its not that great now, but at least I gained a little more self-confidence from the situation. And it helped that a lot of those guys were really cute. ;D

Thats how it was at my highschool. I didn't want to date the guys there because they were all jerks, or not my type, or my friends which would be awkward. lol

8D;;
I love you! I swear people do not do that nearly enough anymore.
I have only ever gone so far as barely kissing, and thats only ever been on boy (only ever kissed several times because we didn't get to see each other much). ><;; I get so much crap from people at the college because no one believes me, and then once they finally do believe that its true they tell me I need to stop being such a prude. Haha

I think college does that for a lot of people though. A lot of people grow up a lot in college once they're past the whole high school thing and they start living a bit more. More experiences and stuff.

I dunno what to call it, really
New people, mostly
I went to a very small highschool where i'd grown up with everyone in my senior class since we were in kindergarten. Knew just about everyone in the highschool, and I wasn't fond of the majority of them. We had different morals, and I wasn't fond of theirs.

Went to the college, and it was a bunch of new people that didn't know me. I was no longer the strange tomboy that had an attitude and hung out with the "unpopulars." And people actually find me attractive, where as the people at my high school pretty much treated me like a dog. lol I dont wear make up and I dont care what people think of me, and I admit that I didn't have much for fashion during highschool and no idea idea what to do with my completely uncooperative hair. I still hide behind my hat, though, and dont wear make up or shorts, skirts, or dresses. :B

My highschool had less than 200 students.
Was less than 40 students in each grade. So we had less then 160 students.

Uh, that's too small for me. I would have died from the lack of social interaction. Or worse, from the lack of people in general haha. I'm so used to crowded things. I don't know what I would have done in your situation.

lol... I've only ever kissed the one guy... and we have actually gone a bit further than kissing, but that was after we broke up, while we were both quite drunk, and I'm still a virgin xD

yeah most of the guys at my school were jerks, and the ones who weren't, I either didn't know well enough to have any sort of non-platonic relationship, or it just would have been weird because we were close friends or they weren't my type

everyone I know from uni is older than me, one is 30 and has a 4 year old daughter, and we don't really talk about sex at all... it just doesn't come up in conversation I guess...

lol Oh, drunken escapades.
I dont drink at all, so I wouldn't really know, but I've heard my fair share of stories. Haha

I'm just rather picky, i'd say. I have grown to know what I prefer, and most guys around here dont fit it well. :/ Will be nice when I transfer to the Uni where I know there are people that are more like me.

Haha. I have a friend that is 10 years older than me that has been trying to get me to date him since I met him! lol He's really cute, actually, and has an oustanding body, but I am touchy with age differences and dont feel comfortable with that. He's really nice, though, and very funny, but he's also a bit pervy. lol But the other guys that like me are much closer in age.

I really haven't gotten to know any of the guys at uni... last year I had one class where I made the majority of my new friends because that was the class I had multiple times a week for several hours at a time, and there were only two guys by the endof it (one of whom was my friend's ex husband xD)
