For my 21st birthday, I was working at the reception desk for a dorm at my college from 6pm to 11pm, so I put a note in the window that said, "Today's my 21st birthday and I'm stuck working here. Pity me and bring me gifts."

I'm not familiar with that in relation to plagues.

Some of the cures for the plague were drinking powdered gold and emeralds, along with the bloodletting, etc.

And now I'm beginning to wonder how I'm going to pick a plague branch with an avatar that doesn't look overly sick. xD
