got home later than i thought i was going to and ended up passing out. just woke up a bit ago and i'm having trouble sleeping so i decided to check in and omg, so many questions. DX

@what judges look for discussion, I would like to say that this was an easy one to answer, but it's not. the reason for this, is because all of the judges have different things that they look for. i know that personally, when i go into a challenge to do my ratings, i look for different things based on the challenge itself. i know that my opinions may be a bit varied based solely on the fact that i know specifically what i expect of the contestants for each challenge, and i try to score based on how well i feel the contestants were able to produce something based on my theme. i look for color, unique layering of items we haven't seen before, overall appeal to the theme, etc. i want to see something that hasn't been done before basically, and that's kind of how i see the avatars when i'm doing my scores.

@the challenge, the challenge is really to pick a single piece of work by one of the listed artists and create an avatar that you feel is inspired by the piece. i don't care if you use a statue or an invention or a painting or a literary work by the artist. if you feel that you can make an outfit based off of a piece of their work, that's exactly what you should be doing. i know that many of the artists have similar styles because of the period, but they all have signatures. something that makes them unique. what you guys should be focusing on is less cosplay-y stuff, and just start feeling the pieces. what do you think of the color, of the theme, of the people/scenery? what does the tone of the art make you feel like? how do the colors inspire you? you guys are limiting yourself to cosplays and not venturing off to do things like using the colors of the art to make an outfit that's color based with a night theme like the starry night that was mentioned earlier or thinking about the shapes used in the pieces. architecture has a lot of clean lines and angles and different shapes involved, and some of the artists listed are architects. you could do so much based on architecture. this challenge is 100% interpretational on your part. its up to you guys to pick a single piece of art of your choosing by any of the listed people and come up with something. i don't care what you do, just something.

ck, i currently love the theme of your avatar, but its not what the challenge is asking. your idea to personify the artist was one that i hadn't thought of and its really intriguing. and you changed your hair haha. i should start taking screen shots of all the times I see you change your hair and build a collection xD

Is it really st. patrick's day on wednesday? so unprepared >> i have no idea what i'm going to wear, both personally and on mene xD i'll probably throw something together last minute. go to walmart tomorrow and get some cheap pattys thing to wear.

@scores, like i mentioned earlier, i kind of crashed when i got home, and its almost 2 in the morning. i'll get them up first thing when i wake up, which hopefully won't be as late tomorrow morning as it was this morning haha.

Don't worry about it, Chi! Just do what feels right to you. What we're saying isn't necessarily avoid layering, but avoid trying to please people. Just interpret the challenge. :)

My point also was not Layers are bad, simply that you shouldn't let them get in your way. Like if adding that bit of red to the head causes you to have to add something that throws off the theme....then dont add it. Anyone who knows me, know I am also an ACer through and through, just dont let it interfere with your work, dont try and please everyone, go with your gut and you'll be fine ^.^

On judges opinions, it really is all opinion. I personally want the theme to be understandable, but the outfit to still look good. So, if you perfectly represented the theme but I didn't like the look of your outfit, you get counted down. But also, if you had a great looking outfit, but your theme was difficult to distinguish, you get counted down.

That can amount to entirely different things. I want you to keep your own personal style and not change entirely to please me. Especially since I can really like completely different styles.

We dont really have any blues that match it exactly, so i'm doing what I can with different blues.

Suona - "Starry Night" is one of my favorite pieces, but it has nothing to do with the Renaissance... I thought Seiki was going off of Renaissance artists only.
