Giving Up Project Mene?

feedback plzkthx

I just had a malware start attacking my computer so viciously that I couldn't click on anything at all and I had to restart. Then I couldn't run my anti-malware software (I just couldn't open it at all), and I tried downloading a different anti-malware software that a website recommended for if it was blocking anti-malware software (said it used a randomized name so was invisible to malware), but that wouldn't open either. I finally did a system restore to 24 hours ago, and that seems to have worked. None of the new desktop or start bar items are still there (including the new anti-malware program I downloaded), no pop-ups, and my old anti-malware program opened just fine when I clicked on it. I'm running a scan just in case.

I am a little concerned about how slowly my computer is moving right now, but I'm hoping that has something to do with the restore and it will go away when I restart my computer again.

Roachi: That fake Windows Security/Vista Security thing. You know the one that keeps popping up and telling you everything is infected and people are trying to steal your information and trojans are attacking so that you'll buy their program?

The malware scan did find two more files and deleted them, so everything seems to be fine. I still think that my computer is running a bit slow. Not ridiculously slow, but slower than normal.

@Cami - Erm i've never had that >< I don't have vista though so that maybe it?

I think it's a fairly common malware. My roommate had it earlier this year too. You don't even have to download anything, just go to the wrong site.

I don't know if I actually have any anti-whatever protection on my Mac. I limit myself to where I go on the internet though to just a few sites so who knows.

That's why I use NoScript add-on for Firefox. Since I've used that and only allow sites I trust/temporarily allow sites I'm not so sure about, I almost never have anything pop up in my malaware scans.

@Seiki- I don't think there's much malware/many viruses coded for macs... at least, that's what they told me when I bought mine. :/
