I know right. This challenge was like my main reason to join this cycle. There was bound to be a cosplay challenge o.0
Most likely I will go with Lovett, but I may try a crack at a few others just for fun xP

I didn't like the movie as much as the play. :/ I normally love Tim Burton, but... he just made it too dark. He sucked all the comedy out of it.

It is true, Sweeny todd on stage was all about the comedy. He sucked alot of the priceless moment out of the "have a little priest song"
although I was amazed at how well Johnny Depp Could sing.

Yessss, oh my god, you noticed too!!!! :glomp: Most of my friends who saw the movie just loved it and got all butthurt when I criticized it and apparently didn't even notice the lack of laughter/comedy in "Little Priest." And I hate that Burton took the verse where Lovett and Todd rhyme at each other. :cry:
I pretty much expected it of him, because his speaking voice is amazing too, but it was a very pleasant surprise. :]

Glee was mentioned because Darrell likes Glee >w<
West Side Story. If I had a dollar for every time someone sang to me because of my name I'd buy myself a new PC AND a Mac.

....Mariaaaa, I've just sung some West Side Story at a girl named Mariaaaa! And suddenly her username will never be the same to meeeeeeee! Maria, say it loud and she still can't hear you because you're online, say it soft and it's pretty damn creepy. Mariaaaa, I'll never stop typing Mar-eee-aaaaaah!
....That is your name, right Platty? >_>

Technically, my name is "Maria Elena", and people are supposed to say both, but no one ever does. All the forms for stuff say "First name", then "Middle INITIAL", and then "LAST NAME."
So it always gets shortened to Maria. Besides that, almost no one who can't speak Spanish will say it right anyway so I gave up a long time ago.

@Bri- That is the BEST part of that song xP
I missed that greatly in the movie. The cast in the play version played off each other so very wonderfully that there was just that spark in that song that made everyone laugh. Was DEFINATELY missing that in the movie.
Also I agree. I LOVE Johnny Depp. So as much as I prefered the play to the movie, I still found he made a good sweeny. His costume for the movie made me realize just how very skinny he is though o.0
@Platty- you must be named maria? xP

@Platty- Well, if I knew you irl, I'd call you Maria Elena. That's a really pretty name. :> I always ask for mine to be shortened from Brianna to Anna because people always pronounce Brianna weird (and also I just don't like it). If they don't know my last name, they pronounce it with a weird southern drawl thing "Bree-ay-nuh" or with a british accent thing "Bree-aw-nuh" when really it's "Bree-ah-na," but if they do know my last name (Romero) they roll the R to hell and then say the "anna" part really fast. "Brrrrrrrrrianna."
Not many people pronounce Anna wrong, though. c:
@Cora- Yeshhhh, I agree! >w<
Yeah, I think George Hearn and Angela Lansbury (or Patti LuPone, even) had much better chemistry than Helena Bonham Carter and Johnny Depp. :/ I mean, I love them both to death, they're both beautiful people, but their energies just don't really work together. Too serious for my tastes.
Yeah, Johnny needs to gain some weight! D: But I guess Burton likes his leads skinny... *points at nightmare before christmas and corpse bride* :b
@Kultura- Aw, keep trying. :C That wig is a really good idea...

I was playing with it on the DAC but... Meh. It seems plain.
It would help if I'd actually knew about the broadway productions, rather than just the movie versions xD

@Bri- I am a HUGE fan of the Patti LuPone version, that is my favorite.
but Angela Lansbury made a good version as well.
And good point....jack skellington is inplausably thin......I wonder if he took is inspiration from Johnny *ponders this*

I don't think Johnny Depp is too thin. And besides, if he were bigger, it probably wouldn't work very well for him.
Glee was only mentioned to show how Broadway actors have success finding mass appeal in larger audiences. There are a lot of famous actors and actresses who have segued from a career on the stage and into mainstream television and film or other fields of entertainment because they did well where they started. Since a large portion of the Glee cast has a Broadway/stage background, that's the only reason I used it for the intro.

@Cora- Yessss! I just love Patti LuPone in general. :heart:
Haha, well, he is a skeleton. And I don't think Johnny Depp had any part in TNBC, but I bet he was the inspiration for Vincent in Corpse Bride!
That looks nice so far! Ughhh, you're making me want to try Lovett! ;∆;
@Ry- >w<
Same here, rargh. I've also been procrastinating like crazy, however that works. >_> This summer's been really really nice for me, though. I'm almost not excited for next year to start, but it is senior year, after all. :3
What all have you been busy with?
@Seiki- He's not too skinny, but he is very skinny. Hollywood does have unrealistic standards of beauty based on weight, so I can see how any extra weight might work against him, but still.

I think he looks healthy at the size he's at. He could probably be a bit bigger, but I don't think that would be his style. I don't see him as being one of the kinds of actors that feels the need to change their physical being to get roles or anything because lets face it, he could get a leading role at any size due to his talent.
I think if we were used to seeing him in more fitted clothing in his movies it wouldn't be such a shock to see how small he really is. In almost all of his movies, they have him in oversized clothing. Nothing is really fitted, and if it is, there are so many layers of clothing on him that he looks bigger.
Eh. Oh well.
Cora, yes, I do like Glee. Would you all have rather that I did a mini-bio on Hugh Jackman as my intro though? It was easier for me to relate what I'm familiar with so I went with that. I only do the introductory blurbs to give everyone a bit of information about a topic. When I first started theming the cycles, I thought that with the challenges, I could find a way to educate everyone on the topics that were related to the theme to get them to open up to things they might not have been interested in before. I can stop doing the blurbs if its just going to be complained about.
