I love how many people vote in the poll, but less than half of those people post in here regularly. Go figure : )

Whiiiite banner!

I'd have made that white longer, but I was worried about the spam rules. Only warning I've ever gotten on this site was for spam when I was making words longer in an attempt to be humorous.

Also, <3s for Seiki. Specifically, the <3s of people who don't post here.

I do post... occasionally. xP

At the moment, I still like the white better, although I am usually a black banner person. It's just the "Project Mene" on the black banner irking me. D:

Or you could just keep the Under Construction banners forever. That should keep everyone happy.

Well the poll was more to gather information on which one you guys felt was better and to get some feedback. I'll most likely be changing the fonts on the banner since a lot of you have said you don't like it. And I've been playing with it to see if I can't get better positioning and all that. I'll post banners one more time once I feel I've found a good font to use and we'll go from there.

I appreciate all the feedback and opinions, but even if the poll said 100% of you like it black or white, I might not go with that option. I don't know. I'm still torn between the two myself.

I do like the white.....but it just looks so.....white.....the black looks more inviting. Hence why I chose black myself xP

I see banners with white backgrounds all the time, since the forum background is white. Personally I could care less beyond "not white," but for that particular design, I think black works best.

I had a dream that the event had come out, and it was cool but really frustrating. Too many links to get to where you were going, and you couldn't just back up to the last page if you accidentally clicked the wrong link. I did this thing where I was partially awake and aware, and still thought I was trying to make the event work, and then I realized my eyes were closed.

Lots and lots of links.

It was like... There were three groups of NPCs, each with two or three NPCs in it. And you were supposed to offer them something from your inventory. Like, you'd buy commons that you think they'll like and then try offering it to them, and if they like it, they'll give you an NPC item (one that only the people who give them an acceptable common get). I remember thinking in the dream that it must have taken forever to code because the staff had to mark every item as something each NPC would either accept or not accept.

You were actually in my dream, CK. XD I was having trouble figuring out how to give a common to an NPC, and you showed me through all the links to get to one, but it wasn't the one I was trying to get too so I tried to go backwards a page and it wouldn't let me. Very frustrating.

That sounds far to complicated to make ANYONE happy. Of course Cami's Backwards mind would come up with something like that.

Well, I do try to help. xD And if I'd somehow not caught on that the coding was tedious and not-fun (which has been the case before for things like cashing in items/points/whatever, seeing as you typically don't test-drive exactly the same way you'd play for real), I'd have felt bad and considered it my duty to help out people. Particularly those who would presumably be the sort to help other people through the process. :B

CK: That reminds me of something we talked about in my Electronic Publishing class. Users will almost never use your site the way you designed it to be used. They'll create their own short cuts, jump in on subsections instead of on main pages, go in completely circular paths to get somewhere. Sort of like at a college where there are sidewalks all over the place and everyone cuts across the grass. So you watch the users and the design towards what they're already doing (like paving a sidewalk where the grass is already beaten down).

Cora: I'm sure it could have been really fun with slightly fewer links! I hate links. XD The more links I have to click through to get where I'm going, the less likely I am to stay on the site.

@Cami- I find your statement about things being used in different ways interesting. I my browser homepage is the mene main forums page......I hardly ever see the main homepage of mene.....does that count?

Also this is true.....the amount of links in that would most likely make me want to just say screw it, and buy the items off someone else later.

Cora: Absolutely. I'm also almost never on the homepage of Mene. When I start typing "menewsha" into the browser, it comes up with options that include the main forums page and the avatar chat page, and I just click on one of those. On my phone (which I occasionally use to look at Mene), I have the avatar chat page favorited so I go directly there.

Which means that all the pretty things they put on the main page, like announcements, event banners, and Admin's pick, we completely miss.

----------

In an almost unbelieveable twist, I've actually updated my store: http://www.menewsha.com/forum/gaming...ml#post1702340

I'm sure there's better things I could have done with the 2-3 hours it took me to do that. XD

CK: Do you know why my store doesn't come up when I search "Chaos" or "Chaos, inc" in the exchange?

re: users cutting their own paths
Yeah. We try our best to figure out where the grass is beaten down, so to speak. But some things you can't always anticipate until they're in place. Then you try to refine those things for the next time around, to make things easier and less buggy. :B (Or drop something all-together because it's too easily abused.)

re: search
From what I recall, the search engine doesn't search to the end of time, but only within the last few weeks. So if you were searching for it and hadn't posted in it recently, I don't think it'd show up. (And for all I know, it only accounts for threads created in the last few weeks.) The search engine power was turned down, so to speak, to ease server strain. ::shrug::
