I hate them! Who doesn't? D: <

Everyone was talking about how good Lucky Star is, so I decided to watch a few episodes of it before going to school.
I click on like, ONE google link and it installed a so-called 'anti-virus free software' (yeah right) and I couldn't even cancel the download. (The download window didnt even pop up, I was totally un-aware of it).

So now I have to go through the trouble of removing this stupid thing, and it's being really really... FWE%[email protected]#%T!%@!~!!
:illgetu:

It kind of makes me wonder why I am paying for my REAL anti-virus software.

What is the WORST virus you have ever gotten?
The worst I've had was two years ago when everything on msn went spastic and the computer would never let me change anything.

Edit: worst of all.. my mom comes home in two hours.. u_u

Eek, that's weird! Things like that are the reason why I set my computer to "always ask permission before downloading stuff", that way nothing unwanted gets in.
When I get a download prompt upon entering a site that has "no" on the second yes button (y'know, the kind of prompts that say "Do you want to install Program X on your computer, the marvellous and wonderful new virus scanner and computer cleaner? Yes/No" and you click no or try to close the prompt and it starts downloading anyway) I pull the internet cable out. Yeah, having a laptop and no wireless hotspot can be a very handy thing.

My worst one as far as I remember was a virus that would refrain the keyboard from doing anything. D: There were three password protected users on it and no guest account, so it was impossible to get to what we needed. I knew the keyboard didn't break down because it was new. A friend of my mother's managed to fix it eventually (he's a computer expert and he put our PC together for us).

The virus must've come in when my brother downloaded games and music, because I hardly ever download stuff.

Ctrl+Alt+Delete is a windows user best friend :) Terminates background programs in a click of a button

I don't get viruses because i take care when surfing the net and have all my protection completly up to date...haven't had a virus since my first computer in 2000 :ninja:

There always seemed to be something wrong with my old computer and it had many virus' over its 7 year life so I can't remeber the 'worst' it had.
But now I am way over protective of my new computer because I have too many internet-related addictions so I wouldn't want to go computerless for too long.
past experiences with virus' and computer problems has taught me to backup all important photos and documents on my computer regularly, so I guess that's a good thing.

Unfortunately, real anti-virus software can't do much about things that are downloaded from the internet in a situation like that. I would reccommend downloading Malware-Bytes (you can get it from cnet.com) and scanning with that. I had to use it last time my sister managaed to download one of those "free antivirus" things.

I had a pretty nasty virus on my laptop once years ago and it took me ages to get rid of since I didn't know computers well. xD Nothing that 3 years working university IT couldn't fix though.

I wish I had that option Volucria. >.<
I should go find it tonight. >_>

And yeah, I did the Task Manager thing and terminated it but since it was already a downloaded program it just put itself into the system tray and I could not get rid of it.

Thank god, five hours after I posted this thread, my mom's boyfriend blew up the virus. :insane:

that reason is why i have firefox and all the features on it. i can't even run menewsha or gaia correctly without giving the site permission to send me things.

when i was in the 7th grade my brother went into a downloading EVERYTHING phase.
most of it rated x if you know what i mean, it was awful. here i am, a seventh grader going on neopets or something and BAM! naked men. BAM! naked women. BAM! horses and people.

oh it was awful :[

Oh man, that sucks. I hate computer ciruses. I had one on my (quite new) laptop last year, and I couldn't get rid of it. I finally figures out that my computer had two anti-virus systems that sort of negated each other -_-.
So now, I just make sure I keep my downloading to a limit( since I'm not one of those people who are good with computers and can fix anything).

I haven't used passive virus protection in at least 4 years...

I don't get a virus because I download exclusively from places I trust, and failing that I have antivirus installed but not running so that I can manually scan anything I'm curious about. Then every 6 months I run a boot time scan and a malware scan to make sure everything is tip-top and the worst I get are tracking cookies. :)

I'm actually surprised I don't get MORE computer viruses. -Shouldn't download nearly as much as she does-

I got one on my laptop a few months ago. I think my exact expression was this:
O__________________O 'FUCCKKK!!'

But AVG quickly took care of it. xD

For some reason, my computer always gets messed up after I accept file transfers on AIM. I should stop doing that, actually. -__- Currently, my computer won't shut down right. It makes me quite upset.

The worst one I had was when my sister got some huge virus. I tried everything to get rid of it, but I finally had to restart the whole computer to how it was when we first got it. Lost all my files and stuff. :'D

When my cousin came over my mom forced me to let her use my laptop, >_>; at some point during that popcorn got installed on the computer, every 15-20 minutes it would interrupt anything i was doing in order to demand that i pay them. the thing also reinstalled it's self every time i tracked it down to delete it ><; finally managed to change it's permissions so it wasn't allowed to do anything and the ads stopped popping up.
