my situation:
do i even want to get married?
oh and to start, both my boyfriend and i in october will be 21
yes i do, i've been with my boyfriend for 2 years (well it'll be 2 years this coming monday the 15th of sept) A year into it he gave me a promise bracelet. he started college away from home. and he realized how much i meant to him and same with me and how much he means to me. (he realized this a week into his first semester away) and that was when he determined he wanted to stay with me. a month and half into the semester (oct when he came home for a break) he gave me the promise bracelet and proposed to me. (he had something typed up and read it to me) the bracelet is this $4 at most stretchy beaded power bracelet he bought from the convenience store on campus. its in place of the ring i will receive the day we wed. holds the same meaning as promise ring, but means a lot since i love bracelets and also we're keeping this from our families until he gets me the engagement ring and proposes to me (he has a day he would like to chosen already >.< and i don't expect to get engaged till we're around 24-25ish)
I do have a dream wedding: Outside at a park in my hometown. i wanna rent out a small lodge for the day and have the ceremony outside and i wanna be married by a judge. i have the lodge just in case it rains we have a back up plan. The night he gave me the bracelet, my boyfriend and i were outside so he could smoke (he smokes. i don't), it was cold, i was cold; he mentioned to me that we could get married in one of the warm months (like may at the earliest) so i could have my outside wedding (we would talk about that stuff sometimes)
along with the location, heres a quick lowdown. a small wedding. or as i call it "econo wedding" we're both gonna be college graduates at that time... him hopefully a law school grad. so adding our loan debt from college- we'll be almost if not over $100k in debt.
gown- a nice looking Elvin or renaissance type gown with the flowy sleeves that i've found for under $400
colours- purple (my fave colour) and blue(his)
music: iTunes. iTunes will be our DJ.
Food: we'll determine that when it comes... same thing with cake (though we LOVE cheese cake... we've joked and said we would have it that the bride and groom get a special cheesecake)
amount of people: small amount. just our families and friends(immediate family, some extended, and of course, our closest friends). neither of us like big crowds of people.
another thing i've included is i would have our siblings' kids in the wedding. my brother and his wife have a son, so he's my ring bearer and will use the pillow my brother used at our mom's and my dad's wedding (we share mom, my dad is his step-dad), if i get a niece from them i'll have a flower girl. and then if my boyfriend's brothers (b/f is baby of 3 boys) have kids. if girl- flower girl, boy- something... ah usher types leading guests to chairs depending on age or greeting.
the smaller more detailed things we don't know since, as i said. we're still in school. but we've come up with things in conversations since its nice to talk about things like that especially since he's away at school and we see each other at least once a month.
if you're engaged... how's the planning going?
I am what i consider, 1 step away from engagement. planning? well... we basically sometimes talk about what we would like to see or would consider having at our wedding. but not much since we have a few years or so before we get married. so, its just basically ideas thrown out into the air. like every so often we'd be listening to music and just mention what type of music we would probably have played. or i'd be bored and go online and look up gowns i'd like.
I think thats it. apologies for long post. >.<

I never had a dream wedding, I just knew I wanted it to be a small wedding. I always wanted to get married and in a strange way always knew that I would end up marrying my husband. I designed my own dress too, which was simple and form fitting, but it turned out nice anyway.

I never really wanted all the drama and huge cost surrounding a wedding. My hubby and I eloped and it was very romantic. And we were able to go on 2 honeymoons that year which is the best part! :)

I'd love to get married one day...that would be so lovely. D;
I know I want my wedding to be inside, and with a silver theme.
Or, on a beach. :3
But, I don't know. Le sigh.

Sometimes I think about my wedding, but I don't really have a dream wedding.
I do think I know my color theme though.
White, black, royal purple and pale green.
The only problem is finding flowers.
XD
Edit: `Cexlan!
Hi!
Oooh.
I like your wedding plans.
It sounds pretty.
Surprised mine contains my two fave colors?

I've been living wedding lately since I'm planning mine at the moment.
So far the only thing I'm stressing about is the cost. . weddings are friggen expensive!!!!!!
I like to get things done early - so as of right now I have the hall, catering is included with the hall, the photographer is booked, I bought my dress, and we have our wedding rings.
Actually- i got a call yesterday that my dress came into the shop so I'll be going in tomorrow to try it on.
I still need to find someone to marry us, a DJ, and transportation. I'm going to let my bridesmaids pick their own dresses, they just have to be sage colored. Haven't decided on a tux for the guys yet - figure I have time on that so I'm not going to worry.
My Mom is going to do flowers for me and we're going to have potted plants (like mums) for the table centerpieces.
The wedding is a year away - 10.10.09 and it's still kind of surreal.
Sometimes I feel like I'm silly planning already, but then I run into things like the hall and photographer already had other weekends in October 2009 booked and I was lucky to get the date that I wanted.

Sure, I wouldn't mind getting married. Maybe not right now, but sometime in the next 5-10 years would be okay. I'm 18 right now as it is.
I don't really think about getting married though, so I don't have a dream wedding.
I could just.. come up with one along the way I suppose? XD

I'm not even sure when he'll propose to me if he ever does... I might have ot propose... or there won't really be a proposal but like an agreement if that makes sense xD... I've been kind of thinking about little things about weddings since I posted this thread ... I'm afraid to go dress shopping and our colors will probably have green and/or blue ... and my bridesmaids can pick their own dress as long as they're the same color xD... I'll probably have a maid of honor and like one bridesmaid... xD... I don't have too many close friends that I'd want in my wedding ... *shrugs* ...

Keeping the wedding party kind of small is a good idea.
I have a matron of honor and 2 bridesmaids and Chris has his best man and 2 groomsmen.
I thought we would never get around to getting married- I had almost given up hope before he proposed ;) At this point we've been dating for 8 years - when we get married next year we will of been together for 9 years - I figure it's about time.
Don't worry too much about colors- just pick the season and then colors that go with it. I'm having a Fall wedding so I figured a nice shade of green would work - the flowers are going to be ones that are in season (like mums) - work with the season and go with it - don't try to fight it.
I've found weddings can be as stressful or relaxing as you are willing to let them be - there is no reason to stress about the exact shade of napkins, because in the end no one cares and no one will remember what the napkins looked like.
I figure a wedding should be about sharing your love and commitment with family and friends and putting on a really fun party.

Me and my other half have been together for 2 years and nearly 4 months x]
But we are still pretty young so im not in a rush to get him down the isle.
Id love to get married sometime but like you I dont have a perfect wedding idea in my head xD
Ive seen lots of wedding things ive gone 'aw i want that!'. Ive actually forgotten what half of those things are now :3
All I know is that id love a gothic wedding. Besides that, im not one of these girls who knows where they want it and what time of year or what they want to wear x-x;;
I plan to just go with the flow. And what we can afford XD

I've been in a relationship for two years, but we still don't know if we want to get married.
I'd like to mostly because of the benefits that come with it, because I don't believe a couple needs to "get married" to be able to live a happy life together.
On the other hand, I do kind of want that once in a lifetime experience.
He doesn't really "believe" in it either, and he's not much for big parties, so in a couple of years, we'll see how that turns out. :]

I don't have a boyfriend let alone some plans for a crazy dream wedding. I'm not going to spend my younger years wishing for something that isn't anywhere close at the moment, and that will probably turn out far different then I could ever imagine. How a wedding runs isn't just my decision, but has to do with what my future husband would want too. I'll just have to wait and see what we manage to dream up.

I'd like to get married sometime in the future. I'm not dating right now, so it's definitely not happening anytime soon.
I kind of have a dream wedding. I got bored a couple months ago and designed my wedding party's dresses on David's Bridal's website. The one I liked the most was navy blue and white. It was really pretty. Other than that, there's nothing really specific I'd like. I guess I would like it outside in the Winter. It doesn't really get very cold where I live. We tend to have the best weather during the Winter. Spring, Summer, and Fall are really stormy. I don't really know anything else.
My friend's wedding this past April was pretty. It was based around calla lilies. She had a white dress with a yellow sash. I was the maid of honor. I had a sage dress. The men had black suits with white shirts and yellow vests and ties. Her cake was made the night before by her husband's friend's wife. It was pretty and kinda funny. The cake. The cake was slightly messed up before the wedding. My friend, the bride's brother accidentally leaned on it lightly while getting something for someone. It got on his tux. He was not happy. The wedding was inside a building, on the second floor, overlooking a dam. It was very pretty. Walking up the stairs in the long dresses was slightly nerve-wracking, though.
Overall, I wouldn't mind a wedding like hers minus the stairs with a different color scheme. And I'd go ahead and have the bird seed thrown walking to the car for the traditional drive away to the reception, in case I had rude guests who'd just leave after eating.

Speaking of cakes, I think this one is pretty cool.
For my cake I want a real colorful, kind of mad hatter-ish type of cake.

Those are cute. I'd love a cake made by Duff off the Food Network, Ace of Cakes. He and his team are incredibly talented. His business is kind of far away from where I live, though.

Yeah, the cake looked really cute for being made in a couple hours by someone who has never done it before. I liked that the biggest layer was red velvet and the other two were vanilla, so the guests could choose what flavor they wanted.
Have fun looking at wedding dresses.
