So I have photoshop on my computer and I never really use it unless I'm just doodling randomly or changing eye colours so I thought I might have a proper go and follow some tutorials to help me get started.

I only have a mouse and I'm just practising colouring rather than drawing (credit to Nashya who's lineart this is) so here's what I've done so far ...



I know I haven't done the face very well because I can still see a big light blob on the right of her face xD But I just want to see what you guys think and if anyone has any help in terms of lighting and such because I fail at that :P

Its pretty good for a first try. My first photoshop attempts were tons worse than yours. I personally would use a deeper shadow as well on the face. But then, I work with high contrast.

Just be sure to blend more and use dark tones where dark shadows would be. :] That's all there is to it. With practice you'll become much better.

I don't really like the face much anymore but I'm proud of myself for the eyes :D They look great when I start playing with the hue/saturation. :P

This is really good! I haven't even started to play around with photoshop, so I have absolutely no idea how you did that.

I think a very very general tip would be an arrow indicating where light comes from. Easier to remember the places where need to be dark and light.
