I guess me and having a mule account will never really get along. |3; But I would certainly like to try.

You see, back when I was VERY new and we were still on phpBB, I created the one mule I was allowed. I don't know where the idea for the name came from, or why I thought it would be a good one...turned out it wasn't exactly great for me; I did nothing - absolutely NOTHING with the account - and forgot the username AND the email address it was linked to.

A few months later, I wanted a mule. I tried every email address I knew I had and nothing found my original one. I sighed and made a new one, because, having been an administrator for a small private phpBB-based forum before, I knew a little bit about the workings of the system, and I knew that unless one of the staff members was PSYCHIC, there was no way to find it. I knew I was treading on thin ice, but really, I couldn't think of anything else I could do.

I used a unicode character for this new account's username. As such, I have not been able to log in since the software change. And once again, I don't remember the email address it was linked to.

Well, now that we have semi-new hair out, I wanted to play with it...but I don't want to change out of my Genesis cosplay just yet (I have a slight obsession >w>), so I decided to try all the email addresses I knew I had again on the "lost password" page. And by a total fluke, I found my ORIGINAL mule. I blinked a couple times in disbelief, both at the fact that I found it and the fact that I remembered the password to that email address (last time I tried to get into that one, I couldn't).

But it brings me to a little dilemma. I'm thrilled to have a mule, but this one...is a totally blank account, whereas on the other one, I actually DID things. I actually had a few items and a little bit of gold stashed away. In fact, I know I at least had a Royal Cape - I don't remember if I got that account a full CI set when I joined, but yeah...it's a bit much to just lose to me. .__.; I guess it serves me right for forgetting my original mule in the FIRST place...but yeah.

Long question short, is there any way to rescue my stuff and have one of the accounts banned/deleted/whatever? I felt bad enough when I forgot my original mule and all. This is just driving me nuts. e_e

PM an online moderator. They should be able to look up all the accounts that are registered under your IP and inform you of your account names. Not so much the password. Hopefully that you will remember.

Well, that's not really the issue anymore...and back when it was, that wasn't really the case, as I had disconnected and reconnected from the internet several times between the creation of the first (empty) account and realizing that I had forgotten it - so my IP address was different.

It's a bit confusing, yes - and in retrospect, I realize I should have asked before going ahead and making a new mule (*slaps self on wrist*), but I was later told that it was fine and there was nothing that could be done anyway...so maybe the inability to get into the mule that I actually had as a functioning one for a while (stupid special character names!) is just karma biting me in the butt for that mistake. :sweat:

Still, I find it worth it to try and find out how to rescue my items. I'm willing to pay for the name change either will need (the original because the name doesn't suit me and I forget it, or the active because...I can't get IN without changing it). I know I WAS allowed a free name change after the software switch if that was an issue, but I was...kinda...supposed to send an email from the address associated with that account...which, like I said, I have yet to find. :sweat:

EDIT: When we switched software a lot of the special characters got all out of whack. If that's the case we can change the username for you.

I'll take a look at this ^^ If you're certain your mule has a royal cape we should be able to find it that way.

I can check trade logs and search for people who have the cape itself. So this isn't completely hopeless :) We should be able to sort something out for you :yes:

Having checked, ç¿” does indeed have a royal cape, and it says it's your mule in the sig so there's no problem there. I have no problem with transfering the contents of this acount to your original mule and de-activating this one. Or changing the name on the newer one(you're right, you wouldn't be charged for that) and shutting down the first one. Your choice entirely :)

It would be less work to just change the name on the new one and deactivate the old one, right? Besides which, it means I'd get to keep my posts and everything, so I'd like to go for that.

My original mule's name, looking at the forgot password email, is Heliophobia - I actually had to look that up to remember why I chose it. XD; For the sake of fairness I really would be willing to give the 1k for an actual new name, since...it's like I had one anyway. :sweat:

Would I go about this...just the same way as I would ask for a normal name change? :sweat: I'm so confused right now that it's driving me out of my mind.

Yes but we did say that name changes necessitated by the software switch would be free of charge, so there'd be no need for you to pay, just PM me(or tell me here) the new name that you'd like and I'll sort that out for you :)

Sunlight, yes. I'm practically allergic to the sun; there's a running joke that I'm a vampire...as soon as I looked it up I remembered that it was a play on that. XD

I'll drop a PM about the new name, since if my first choice isn't taken ALREADY, I'm kinda paranoid about someone else getting the idea in the forum. XD;;;;
