Sounds like a most interesting trip... I'd have hated being on that 5inch path.. I've already almost fallen off a cliff once in my life and I've been scared of heights all my life... wouldn't want to repeat the experience.

However I do look forward to hearing about your adventure. :D

It's strange though... at times when hiking in Alberta (which is all hilly/mountainous) and their hiking areas are either on hillside or canyon, it doesn't really bother me too much.

Manitoba is as flat as land can be... so even hiking wouldn't be the reason I'm used to walking along heights.

Yeah.. I've no idea. I went on one hike in MB and I was surprised it was actually what could be called a cliff. We even had to climb a portion which I hated because we first had to walk across a log over a drop into a river. :XP It was a school outing for a gym block.. before then hiking never bothered my bad knees.. but I was ready to collapse by the time it was over. :XP Nevermind we were supposed to have buddies and my buddy disappeared. As good as can be though... I'm very shy and I didn't know the person. :XP

Though I found a group of girls who didn't mind I didn't talk much but were happy to walk with me.. of course they fled when we found a hornet's nest on the trail... one got stung on the eyelid. >.<

Yeah.. I was more comfortable alone than with someone anyhow.. it was more to the middle of the hike that I found myself within the group of girls. As it was it was a group of twenty and I was steadily in the middle of it the entire time. xD

Except for the last mile that was on the side of the road because we left the path too early and had to find our way to the bus. I was at the back walking with one of the teachers. xD

I love having companions on a hike, else I get too bored.
