Normally, I don't believe in these things, but then my mom said that she was cursed when she was a kid from her first trip there, since she bought back a bone. It started shaking and stuff, before they buried it to remove the curse of whatever. ^^;;

And, well, it's not restricted, because you only have to touch the coffins to get cursed. ^^;; Not like you need to touch them anyway. You can just look. xDD;; Plus, it's an adventure. =P And a sight in itself. 8DD;;

That's kind of like some of the ancient maori burial grounds right out in the wops here in NZ. You can just walk into them, without even knowing that your on tapu (sacred) grounds. Though, it's kind of weird that they have access to something like that, without having any warnings or anything up ... Burial grounds and such shouldn't be disturbed.

Oh my gosh, that sounds so scary! Wow... Curses here are sooo scary. Like Roachy was saying, we have heaps of stuff like that too, but they're made conservation sights - and you're kept a certain distance from stuff. Its cool that people are respectful enough not to disturb the sites though, unlike here! Honestly we had some teens spraypainting cemetaries, and smashing headstones... so sad D:

Plus who would wanna mess with that sorta stuff to begin with? Lols...

@ Chi : Really? =O Over here, the guides tell you where to go and where not to go, so you don't just happen to walk in uninformed and all. ^^;; I agree though, there should be a sign or something to tell people about them. =O

@ Nivvy : That's so disrespectful of them. >.>;; There's a ton of laws here stating that there's appropriate punishments for those who vandalize, litter, and etc around these tourist sights. And the locals are very strict about that too, which helps a lot. :3

And maybe those who wanna mess with it are just looking for "interesting" and "memorable" things they can mess with to, umm, make their mark or something. >.>;; I dunno, just a hunch. :x

One of my friends grandmothers was this old maori lady who had a batch kinda thing up in the ureweras, which is like some huge bush area park thing. Anyhow, it's covered in forest and she told me freaky stories about that place ... and how maori use to live back in the days when this country wasn't developed. She was like "do not ever go out into the bush without me"... Apparently there were old ancient burial grounds and stuff that you could just accidentally walk into and get curses (tapu is what we call it) put on you and stuff. We went for a little bush walk with her one day ... and she pointed too caves where they use to kill people and eat them. Yup cannibalism actually existed here. Ewww!! Still gives me the shivers thinking about it.

HOMG the Ureweras! scarrrrry!!! what about Patupaiarehe! Tall, slender... with ginger hair - they enchant men and women in the forest, and make them pregnant/get pregnant from them... then when the sun goes down the patupaiarehe go to the village, play their flutes and enchant the person away from their village... and the person is never seen again :S *shivers* unless you smear red ochre on yourself for protection :O
