Reminds me of a time when we had wildfires come near our high school at some point. We ended up getting a week off from school, but I wasn't sure whether to feel happy about it or not. I think during this wildfire, it actually came sort of close to my house too, to the point where there was potential for evacuation, but thankfully it didn't happen. ^ ^;

I think there were a couple cases of the Swine Flue at my university, but we are pretty close to Mexico after all. ^ ^;
Lots of hype from news and teachers and such, but (at least to me) it all died down not long after. >o>;

Wild fires are common in SoCal especially once summer gets closer though, there've been two big ones this year, I think, one being really really recent, but not too close to where I live. The earlier one from this year actually made me feel like the school might cancel classes for a short period, but they never did. I know some students had lost their homes that fire though. x^x

But I left around mid-May, so I don't know prevalent still it is in the American minds now. Here in Taiwan, it's more often referred to as H1N1, and the hype is pretty big, you can see people all over the place wearing face masks ( aside from the motorcycle riders who are always wearing them >o> ).

Hehe, RyRy would probably be able to finish either of those quests faster than some people though *points to self, even though she's not questing those items*. X'D <3

Yeah, at the airport (both in LA and Taiwan) there were a lot of people wearing face masks. All the stewardesses on the plane wore them too. 8<
Being an American though, I didn't really care for face masks. My thinking is that as long as I keep myself clean, maintaining good hygiene and all that, I should be fine. XDD

And oh, I was just talking with a friend in the States right now, and he said that the hype from the swine flu has died down, 'like it never existed', and I feel it's been this way since around the time I left. XD;
But.. I think the hype of the swine flu is so big here because Taiwan has always been.. not so clean, especially on the streets. These places are slowly getting cleaned up, yes, but it really is still kind of dirty. I imagine the dirtiness is worse in a lot of places in China. 8<;

lol Ry would definately get those items way before anyone else....she has a way of questing things that makes her have a huge inventory for such a short time xP
