I apologize if what I say will be messy from here on out. ^^;; Sleep is starting to take over, but I don't want to walk away from our discussion now. =)
You're right in that humans can never be objective. I myself don't believe in human objectivity, and strongly doubt its existence. From a journalism stand-point, it's like how a writer can never be truly objective about what he or she writes. So we are in agreement there, definitely.
But back to the topic, I don't think that just because you believe and you think you have the right to lie, doesn't mean you actually have said right. Yes, no one can stop you from lying, and no one can stop you from believing that you can and will lie. That still does not mean you should lie. Like I said earlier, who's there to justify your lying? There may be no definite laws about good and bad because us subjective humans are the ones who created them in the first place, but... you can't just dismiss those notions to the side. You may not agree with them, but they're undoubtedly there, and the reality is is that many do abide by said laws.
...
I fear I am no longer making sense. :x I apologize.

It's okay.
Yes, a human cannot be objective, especially not if something hits too close to them.
I never claimed that believing you have the right is equal to having that right. I merely explained how people think about that - in the same way that others that breaks laws and rules often either feel they have the right to or think it to be 'for the greater good', which is in essence the same, only with the difference that they claim an ulterior motive.
As such, I said that it is impossible to fully prevent all people from doing something you think is wrong, or even from something 99% of all people thinks is wrong. There are still rapists, murderers, abusers and kidnappers around, after all. This does not mean that it is right to do any of those things - rape, murder, abuse or kidnap - but it does show that no matter how many people are against it, there shall always be individuals that do it anyway.
The same goes for lying, with as difference that many people have a more ambivalent stance towards it. There simply is a bigger group that does condone lying, or at least does condone it under certain circumstances.
As such, no matter how much one may wish for it to happen, there shall always be people that lie. This does not necessarily make it right - if we, as humans, can even speak about right and wrong, for again this is a matter of opinion - but it does mean it happens. Yes, many abide the laws, because in most cases people agree with it. You see that the less people agree with a law, the more break it. As such you have far less murderers than people driving too fast, far less rapists than people parking their cars in a non-parking spot and far less kidnappers than people bringing their books back to library a couple of days late.

@ Sil : First of all, sorry if I logged off that night. o_o;; I waited for more than an hour, and when I was sure you went offline, I went offline to sleep too. ^^;; I apologize for that then. :x
Anyhow, when did I ever say that it was possible to prevent all lying? o_o;; I think we've gone off course here?
If I recall, all I was saying and trying to point out was that lying most likely will only lead to more pain, adding to the already painful truth. Even if lying was done for the sake of someone's well-being, when it all comes to light you can't say that lying was all worth it, or that it will not have any serious consequences for the liar and the person who was lied to, and even to the people around them who probably will be affected by some sort of collateral damage if the lies get too big and deep enough.
I never said that lying will be stopped because it's wrong. I am fully aware that people will continue to lie. I'm not naive. But like you just said, even if it's wrong, people WILL still do it. It saddens me, and I wish it wouldn't happen, but it does and will continue to happen anyway whether I like it or not.
So now, I'm sort of confused if you're agreeing with me or not? You just pointed out that lying isn't necessarily right, which is along the lines of what I was arguing for. Whereas in the beginning of this discussion you were saying that lying can be led to good if "done correctly" (your examples included if the lie was close enough to the truth, if you were extra careful about reading people, and etc).
Again, I apologize for the late reply. ^^;;
@ Jean : Haha, sorry for the long posts. xDD;; And if you ask me, it may depend on how much I know you. XP And personally I never say, "You're fat." To avoid all the drama associated with the word fat and the connotations of you saying it, I normally just point out the stuff that makes you bigger. For example, instead of saying the person is fat, I go, "This makes your hips look bigger than they really are," or something to that degree. =)
Remember, saying someone is "fatter" does NOT mean that someone is "fat"~ >;D <3<3
It's something I apply to everyday life. :3 Not just between the words fat and fatter~

Hey, I was wandering around, wondering where the CI's are today.
Here it is, May Day, and not only is there no May Day event, but we don't even have May CI's!
If this were April 1st, I would think they were playing a joke on us.

Jean - There was a big argument/conversation of sorts in the site feedback thread regarding the CIs being late.
Staff were not happy that people were being so impatient. I'm not sure why they're late, but i'm sure if they're not out later today they'd be some announcement for it.
And there's meant to be a may day event???

This month?
Rats.
I'll probably be in Alaska when it happens.
Will somebody get an extra set of whatever the event items are, and I'll buy them from you?
Maybe even two sets...I always like to have an extra.
