Strange nicknames can be so much fun. I'm bad at them though. I can never think up clever nick names. Though I have a friend who gives people the oddest nicknames. They're fitting, quite fitting and can be funny.

Personally, I don't like names...its kind of like labeling...

I mean, a name sometimes causes all this trouble for no real purpose. That redefinition of marriage? 15 mil USD over a stupid name.

I think everything is an abstract thing, and we can identify it with names, but there's no real point, so forgive me if the person who I'm addressing in my posts isn't immediately clear. :>

I get what you mean about names and labeling though. =O Yeah, Prop 8 does support that. But, that's politics for you. ^^; It's dirty business, if you ask me. >.>;

But names don't always cause trouble. Sure, they can, and sometimes do. But isn't everything capable of causing trouble in the first place? Names are helpful too. It's a way of aiding in communication and understanding. We're all abstract beings, yes, but I don't think identifying ourselves with names is pointless.

We're all human. As humans, our intelligence is limited, no matter how much we brag that we're the most intelligent species on the world and stuff. We sort of need these names to grasp different concepts. We aren't superior enough beings to function without names, in my opinion.

Sure, they can be limiting, but if we don't limit things, then we as humans won't be able to comprehend anything. Honestly, we're not smart enough for that. xDD; It sucks, yes, but saying that naming things is pointless is false.

I don't know...I don't really identify people with names. Firstly, I identify them with physical or OL appearance (although I don't judge them based on this), then its mentality/personality (EVERYONE IS JUDGED SOLELY BASED ON THIS IN MY WORLD >D), then its name...Sometimes, I can talk to the same person for like a year before knowing their name >_>

What I'm trying to state is that nothing is absolute. So I think that names are pointless, and you think that names are worth it. It just makes me kinda disturbed that people think my ideas upon life/hope/love/religion/cake/etc. have to be exactly the same...yet I sometimes find myself preaching my virtues to others. Go figure. =/

So yeah, really, we each choose what to believe in. My belief is that names constitute a solid definition in the eyes of the masses, and I dislike that.

No, I do not think that names are "worth it", as you put it. I think that names are "needed", because as humans, we need to limit what's around in order to understand and comprehend them. You may not need them, but a majority of people do.

I don't like the idea of limiting things. But, because we're human, I find names "necessary". I do not need to think they are worth it to find them necessary. Personally, the world would be much more simple and in-tune with itself without names. BUT, we don't function like that. So, the names are something we have to live with and accept. =)

Hmm, I don't really watch movies, personally, it hurts my ears...and since I'm a musician, and listening skills are how I pass my level tests (my music theory is abysmal), I don't want them damaged.

But, well.. movies (usually) don't seem to affect me as much as music does. While other people probably wouldn't be able to hear the music, it feels really loud or chaotic to me and I have to have the volume lowered. I'm not much of a musician though, I guess I'm just weird. XD;
