finalitycarrot: That's true and I can certainly see your point. But I'm used to nicknames being given out of a fondness for the person. My family shortens my name and calls me that. It doesn't bug me.
Within my group of friends the nicknames aren't bad. If someone doens't like being called something then everyone drops it. It's usually the one friend who does it and she only does it to those she's known for a while. So I kind of just thought of it as a fondness thing not a label thing.
