Same here. English music makes up maybe 15% of the music I have.

Hm, I'm neither fond of Tamaki Nami nor Utada Hikaru. Not my kind of style, I guess. Oddly enough, I like just about everything Ayumi Hamasaki sings with a few exceptions. =3

Oh, not a problem at all. <3 I like it when people recommend specific songs. Also, I think I now have a mental list of anime you've watched. XDD"

I have to admit, though, that a lot of anime soundtracks tend to be pretty good. They usually get really good singles from whichever singer they pick, it seems. Sometimes I listen to someone and then find out that the song I really like from them is the opening/ending/insert song for some anime series I've never heard of, lol.

I started listening to japanese music with animes. Can't get enough. If I had to pick my favorite song it'd be Ichirin no Hana by High and Mighty Color. If the vid doesn't work press HQ

Oh oh! *grins* I have SOME suggestions and they are some of my favorite artists as well.

For the bands, I think UVERworld is nice. Plus, 'Aozu' is pretty awesome as well. 'Cap to Bin' and 'Pull Tab to Kan' are worth and cool as well. Probably, most of the artists I will say here are from opening and ending themes of animes.

Yui - Her song; 'Rolling Stars' that was used for the opening of Bleach was pretty good. Plus, her newer song 'Again' used in the opening of FullMetal Alchemist Brotherhood is good. Although, it is HARD to memorize and try to pronounce the lyrica of Again, it is pretty catchy.

Ayumi Hamasaki - I liked the song 'Moments' there that was used for the opening of 'Blue Bird's Illusion'.

Miho Fukuhara - 'Let it out' Is pretty catchy as well. It was used as the Ending theme of FullMetal Alchemist Brotherhood.

Ai Otsuka - 'Cherish' was good. It's a sad song though. I recomend you watching 'Draw With Me' in YouTube and that's where I got the song.

Junichi Suwabe - Okay, besides the fact that he is a voice actor, he has some numerous songs that are good. I recomend 'October' especially if you like mixing harmonies together. Plus, his 'Valentine Kiss', 'Sukisa, Sukisa, Sukisa' are adorable! Not to mention 'Charm Point Wa Naki bokuro'. XD So, yeah...

Suara - 'Free and Dream' was good. It was used for the opening theme of 'Tears to Tiara'.

Vic Mignogna - 'Brothers' was pretty much sad. I keep feeling hollow after I keep listening to it.

That's pretty much it and all I know.

Unknown Kunoichi: I also love ajikan!!! <3 But High & Mighty Color and Boom Boom Satellites are love too, when it comes to JRock. And of course, I can not forget my baby daddies of Laruku! L`Arc~en~Ciel will always be a fave.

I like some random JPop songs, but Ayaka Hirahara has been one of my faves for quite a while. I love her voice. Thanks for this thread! It's great to see everyone else's recommendations. ^^

I've never been a fan of Yui's vocals (I think she writes/composes great songs, but can't sing them), but Again is probably the best song I've ever heard from her.

I like Hanabi, Inspire, A Song For XX, No More Words, Independent, No Way To Say, talkin' to myself, Together When..., Jewel, Voyage, Depend on You and Heaven as well. Actually, there are very few songs Ayumi sings that I don't like. It's a huge plus if you understand the lyrics because they're usually very meaningful, and she writes them all herself.

Oh SuwaJun. My recommendation from him is Chaser, actually.
A lot of voice actors sing, in varying degrees of vocal ability. Some have actually made some pretty good songs, while others should never have been recorded. Sakamoto Maaya is a voice actress that's also a good singer, for instance. On the other hand, Yusa Kouji is a very talented voice actor (love his voice to death, really), but his singing is terrible for the most part. :stare:

Oh, Hirahara Ayaka. Yeah, I like her singing, but the songs I've heard from her haven't been especially memorable. Which ones do you suggest?

You're welcome! I'm always looking for new music to listen to, so I hope that everyone benefits from sharing their favourites here. =)

I have to admit I like them both but only their early years, like when Nami was still in school and Utada's music before Kingdom Hearts. Not a lot of people knew her before Kingdom Hearts

Their new stuff is less then interesting.

I listen to Japanese music alot.
It doesn't really matter if it's J-Rock or Pop.
I like both genres.
Some of my favorites are Dir en grey (absolutely in love with them), D'espairsRay, The Gazette, Perfume, Hello Project, Ayabie, An Cafe, Miyavi (just getting into him), ExistTrace, Malice Mizer, and many more, but I can't remember them at the moment.

Hm... I think Utada's first big hits were First Love and Automatic. First Love was okay, but people EVERYWHERE played it ALL THE TIME where I was back when it came out, and about three months down the road, I never wanted to hear it again. I was never fond of Automatic, and she hasn't made a song that I've heard since that I've found myself wanting to listen to.

Admittedly, most of what I've heard from Nami are her songs for Gundam Seed and D.Gray-Man. I also heard a more recent single on music station from her graduation album. Reason and Brightdown weren't bad. Everything else...well, not my cup of tea.

Ayumi DOES have a lot of music, and to be honest, I'm impressed at how much of it is really good music too. More than anything, I love how beautiful or meaningful her lyrics usually are. <3

Oh, bands I haven't heard of! Time to check them out. XDDD

Skankfunk

Oh, (I know this isn't Japanese but it's relevant) for fans of Bleach, if you like the English dub, Johnny Bosch--the voice actor of Ichigo Kurosaki--is the lead singer of a band called EYESHINE. Check them out. They're really good.

I'm really into pop but I also like rock.
NEWS would be my favorite group. I'm in love with Massu's Superman. But Tegoshi has the best voice (my opinion). :) So Ai Nante (I like it when Tegoshi, Shige and Ryo sing it together more).
Also Hey! Say! JUMP. Found out about them after I discovered Ya-Ya-yah, where were 2 of the members from HSJ - Yabu and Hikaru. In HSJ they are my favorite but in Ya3h it would be Shoon - gotta love Shoon. From HSJ I recommend to listen Your Seed and Jounetsu Jump. Others too, of course :)
Ya3h - Itoshi no Playgirl :).

I don't like female groups/artists that much (anymore) but I can't get over Ayaka Hirahara's Jupiter.
Kuroishi Hitomi is another female artist who has the prettiest voice. Songs I recommend are Continued Story and Lullaby of M.

Hey! Say! JUMP - I just heard Your Seed and Jounetsu Jump. Not my cup of tea, lol. I'll get back to you on Ya-Ya-Yah, but if their style is similar to HSJ's, I'm guessing I'm not going to be a fan any time soon. XD"

See, I always thought Hirahara Ayaka has a great voice, but somehow, I've yet to hear a song from her that I've found addictive. Jupiter's a great song, certainly, but I'm not feeling it somehow. =3

Code Geass was the first I'd heard of Kuroishi Hitomi. I like the songs she did for that series though, of which Continued Story was one. =)

About Japanese songs I currently love by female vocalists though, and I probably mentioned some of these earlier, there are...
Full Moon Prayer - CORE OF SOUL
Water Me - Bonnie Pink
Bad Apple!! - Alstroemeria Records feat. nomico
M ~Mou Hitotsu no Love Story~ - RSP
Koe - Tsukiko Amano
Hoshimura Mai: Regret, Sakura Biyori
Dive Into Yourself - HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR
Follow the Nightingale - KOKIA
Himawari - Fukuhara Miho
Stephanie: Friends, Kimi ga Iru Kagiri
Valkyrja - Yousei Teikoku
Soba ni Iru ne - Thelma Aoyama feat. SoulJa
Crystal Kay: Motherland, Konna ni Chikaku de
Ash Like Snow - The Brilliant Green
Anata ga Koko ni Iru Riyuu - Rie Fu
Boukoku Kakusei Catharsis - Ali Project
Angela Aki: Moral no Soushiki, Sakurairo
Tommy Heavenly6 - Pray, Hey My Friend, Heavy Starry Chain
Kaze no Kioku ~To The End of The World~ - Aimmy
Angela: Separation, Asu he no Brilliant Road
Anata ga Iru Kagiri ~A World to Believe In~ - Ito Yuna and Celine Dion
Born - Okuda Miwako

I was going to embed the YouTube videos into the post, but then the list just kept getting longer, so I opted for linking instead. XD" Of course, there are more (I even decided to skip on Ayumi Hamasaki's stuff, since I like so much of it, and I recall mentioning it recently in this thread), but this post would take up the whole page if I tried to be exhaustive. It's long enough as it is! And hopefully, it's varied enough for everyone to find something they don't dislike in it. XD"

I love listening to japanese music! My all time favorite japanese artist is Nobuo Uematsu. Well, he's more of a composer, but either way, he's the greatest, a musical genius! Anyone familiar with the musical scores of the Final Fantasy series should know what I'm talking about. His band, The Black Mages also kicks major behind.

-Soon the Dream will End is my favorite piece by Nobuo
-Also, I'm a huge fan of Tsukiko Amane. I loved the song Koe, but I think Chou will always be my favorite by her.
-Utada Hikaru is one all time favorite, listen to Deep River, Colors, Sakura Drops :), and Sanctuary. In my opinion, the whole Deep River album is gold.
-I love the song Mugen, so I'll include Terra on this list
-Meiko Kaji is in a league of her own. She's one of the rare japanese artists keeping the enka(i think that's what its called) style alive. Her songs Flower of Carnage, Urami Bushi, Woman's Incantation, and Jeans Blue are my favorites. By the way, you may also know her as Lady Snowblood ;)

So far, heres part of a long list. unfourtunately, it's my bedtime...
