Oh god, it hurts so much. I'd never pierce my belly button, EVER. And now my belly button is bright red and hurts a hell of a lot. There was pus in it, I saw it and used my nail to get it out, made it hurt worse and I used a q tip dipped in peroxide to clean it and it made more pus come out. The pus stinks really bad and the smell is "stuck" to my fingers. DD: I don't want to call 911 over something so silly, but it hurts a lot and its the middle of the night, so I can't call my doctor. :(

This could mean you have a leakage of your Intestines, you should probably go to the hospital to just be safe if you haven't already..... I heard this from a doctor on The View one morning.

See a doctor ASAP! It could be something small, but then again, Misshii could be right!

I hope you didn't pierce it yourself?

I don't think you've damaged any intestines, because your intestines aren't so close to your belly button that you can pierce through them if you pierce your navel. You'd have to go through muscle first, which is hard and which would hurt a HELL of a lot more than "just" an infection. A friend of mine had a piercing that damaged a belly muscle, she was in agony everytime she had to stand up or turn or bow or do anything that moves your muscles.

I think it's an infection from either bad piercing or bad treatment. You can go see a doctor and ask for a strong anti-infection ointment or something - I had a problem with my navel piercing a while ago, it bled nonstop for over two months, and the ointment stopped it almost immediately. Try using medication for a week to ten days, if that doesn't help, you'd be better off taking out the piercing. If you don't, it'll grow out and leave you with a huge ugly scar.

You need to take it out immediately.
I had severe infections in simple first hole ear piercings that got really bad.
Take it out and make an appointment with your general doctor to get some antibiotics.

I didn't quite understand, but I believe you are saying that you DID get your belly button pierced. In that case, you may not be caring for it properly. You should be cleaning the area with peroxide or rubbing alcohol at least two times a day. Try cleaning it more frequently and don't use your nail to get the pus out, it's not sanitary. Maybe put some gauze over it to keep it clean and keep it from rubbing against your shirt.

You have a few options: leave it in and keep cleaning it like crazy or take it out and keep cleaning it like crazy. It comes down to how much that piercing means to you. If you clean it and it starts to get better, then it should fine. But if it stays this bad, gets worse, causes you a lot of pain, or you're still concerned you need to talk to your doctor.
I hope it gets better soon.

I got my bb pearced 6 months ago, and it hurt for awhile, but never got puss or red like you said. I'd take it out and hope it heals. You can always try again after it's all healed up.

Oh, I see this was like a week ago. How did it go?
