Hallo again. I'm back 'south of the border' waiting to see if my shoes are going to dry out today.

There are tonnes of teeny libraries scattered around my city but the closest to me is the main one in the town centre. The library is one floor in a building that also has conference rooms and an art gallery and it seems most of its floorspace is taken up by the books and the computers. >.<

There was an argument about 'fair use' for mobile phone and broadband companies here recently because even if the package you buy says you get unlimited texts/minutes/internet there is a point where if you use so much they will put a limit on you or eventually just cut you off. I think if you're using the internet so much as for them to take action though, it's because other people in your area are having their bandwidth limited by you. XD

Yeah, from what I've gathered, in most countries you have to be using.. well, an immense amount of bandwidth to be in trouble. Mmm, pretty girl asking for help...
>.>
Oh, and welcome back, Kat! Did you have fun? : D I like your new avatar.

Thanks ljos. I didn't recognise your avatar when I first looked; I like your pirate look. =P

I had a good time thank you. On Monday we went to the Tourist Information centre to get a bunch of leaflets that we ignored for the rest of the week. The Doctor Who exhibition was fun, the younger kids were having the time of their lives. You weren't supposed to touch most of the exhibits so it was mostly just looking at things but I saw kids climbing all over K9 and I bet a few people wanted to touch the costume Kylie had worn...

There was a caricature of David Tennant in the Fizzers gallery in the People's Palace too. I kept saying "TARDIS!" and pointing because there's restored police boxes everywhere. XD

Haha thanks. :3

Aww envy! Sounds awesome, even if you weren't supposed to touch anything. And yay, TARDIS..es? I think when I get back to London I'm going to hug the TARDIS outside Earl's Court. :3
I'm so excited about going back, but at the same time, I'm dreading it because there's such little time I have left at home! And my best friend isn't going back to London because she finished her studies, so I'll have no one to watch Doctor Who with. :C

I purposely rephrased my post so I wouldn't have to try and guess the plural for TARDIS. XD
Somewhere I've seen a police box shaped coffee kiosk. I thought it was in Glasgow, but it must have been Leeds. I wanted TARDIS coffee.

Aww, I'm sure you'll be able to find some new Who friends. There bound to be something like a Doctor Who appreciation society somewhere as big as London.

Hee, TARDIS coffee! Well, if I drank coffee.. I've been thinking lately, I really must start trying to drink it in the morning. I always look (and feel) like a zombie in the mornings and I don't get why and how other people always manage to look so fresh! Must be coffee. :|

I dunno, I haven't been able to find any my age. Well, one girl in my course and I really dislike her. I just have to get a Doctor Who t-shirt to wear to school or something, to try to encourage other fans to come up to me and talk. xD
There is a club for geeky people at school, but it was started after Christmas last and well, I just didn't really have time to go to the meetings as there were so few left, so I didn't sign up. I went to the introductory meeting and it looked like either people were into hardcore sci-fi, which I really don't know at all, or anime, which I'm not into either, or MMOs, which I don't play. So I didn't really feel like I fit in at all.
Plus, they were all stereotypically pimply and smelly. It was weeeiiird.

I can't get any more of a zombie so it's a moot point whether coffee has any benefit for me. I was getting up at 8am easily when I was away so I'm going to try and get up earlier now at home. >.<

Heh, I better think about how I'm going to be able to watch Who when I'm at uni. I normally just watch it with my parents and then text/msn/bother my friends about it.

Hardcore sci-fi is a mystery to me. When I was growing up I watched Star Trek because my parents did and I quite enjoy it but things like Babylon 5 make between little and no sense to me. I stopped watching the new Battlestar Galactica after pretty much everyone turned out to be a cylon for no apparent reason. Whenever I go into places like Forbidden Planet and Travelling Man instead of being full of spotty men picking comics up with gloves (like they should be) they're full of super pretty goth girls that make me feel like a potato.

I'm off to watch Tottenham - Barcelona... I've missed football. ^^;

I always feel guilty if I get up really late. Like, after one. I think it's because my parents always scolded me for getting up late. But I kind of like it, because if I get up later than one I do feel like I've wasted the whole day. Unless I went to sleep in the early hours of morning..

I don't mind watching Doctor Who on my own, or most other things, for that matter. It's just more fun with someone, at least every now and then.

Even Star Trek is a mystery to me. It was always on just before the cartoons when I was kid and so I hated it then and refused to watch it. Star Trek just meant boring waiting for me. xD
I've seen the new film though, and I loved it. I really want to see some of the old series. But I don't know any of these shows most sci-fi geeks know and love. Babylon 5, BG, Firefly, whatever they're all called. x:

Haha, I know what you mean. Well, I think most of the time they're full of mall goths or emos that I refuse to acknowledge as proper goths. xD But yeah, hardly any of the stereotypical nerds and geeks. Anyway, apparently geek is the new hip. It's weird.

When I was younger I always had to be up and ready for school early because I walked. Since I've finished sixth form though I don't really have anything important to get up for, so the time I get up at started getting later and later. At one point 10am would have been a good lie-in for me. :/

I like Firefly but for me it's more about the characters than the sci-fi elements. It's similar to how I think Joss Whedon made Buffy. Buffy could be about a teenage girl living with her single mum and having to cope with moving to a new high school. Then add her geeky 'Wiccan' friend, the school 'dork' and the stereotypical popular girl. It would work, but when you have demons and vampires on top of that it's just more fun.

When I think about bad sci-fi I think about how Charles Stross almost spoiled a book for me because of the sheer amount of technobabble. I'm happy to accept in the setting of the book there are gates which teleport things and gates that make things. I can live without having to know how he thinks they'd work. >.<

Forbidden Planet in Glasgow had more manga than anything else so it was full of the sort of girls who say "kawaii" without meaning to be ironic and guys who haven't realised there's such as thing as real women and you can look at pictures of them on the internet for free (apologies to anyone who reads manga because its an artform they appreciate- you're outnumbered). Then I have to resist the urge to go up to some of the girls and say "You do realise you're going to have that tattoo of Hello Kitty bleeding from her eyes for the rest of your life? So maybe your neck wasn't the best place to put it... I'm just saying."

I better say something about Doctor Who now. In the Metro they had pictures of Matt Smith and Karen Gillan in costume. I found them on DigitalSpy too.

Because the last time I linked to a picture it didn't work and one of these pictures is actually spoileryX

Tights and socks Karen?

The first thing I saw in this picture was not Alex Kingston but Matt's elbow patches. Sexy.

Wow.
He's in tweed and a bowtie.

Very different from Ten's style, I'd say.
I don't so much mind the tights and socks thing. I think it's actually kind of fitting for her whole outfit.

.....

Not that we're here for a fashion commentary.:|

Sorry Connie. I did think of saying something about how I'm not actually Trinny and/or Susanna (the Zuz-zana robot was at the Doctor Who exhibition!) but I took it out. :/

XD

::has the sudden urge to make a Kate avy using that outfit::
Think Mene has all the articles of clothing I'd need?

Sneakers, socks - would the tights and socks layer together, or would they cancel each other out? - skirt, baggy sweater, mug of cocoa (tea, java, laced tea, laced java, laced cocoa . . . )

Kat, ahh, I remember when 10am was a good lie-in. xD

I haven't really seen that much Buffy. A good few episodes, but I think when I started watching it, they were showing it when it was going downhill? I can't actually remember any of the episodes so I can't tell. But it just got more and more boring until I stopped watching.
I've seen the one where they get stuck in a musical though, that one was awesome.

That might be one of the reasons I often get so turned off by sci-fi. When the author/characters start showing off how much techno-babble they can vomit, I just get so completely lost and feel like they're showing off so hard that I stop reading/watching.

Oh man, manga-philes. They're scary. I read occasional manga because I think it's fun and often really well done, but whenever I see the sort of manga that's either all pink and with hearts and sugary-sweet "kawaii" shit, or the sort that is like, so totally gothic it's about to explode from it, it makes me cringe and want to throw up.
Hello Kitty bleeding from her eyes tattoo? On her neck? Please tell me you're not serious. o.o

Eee, I love Smith's outfit. It's adorably old-fashioned and pretty. And she looks completely adorable.
What is that in the bacground in the elbow patches picture? *cocks head to the side*

Connie, I wouldn't be surprised if the socks and tights are on the same layer, unless it's the thick socks type? I'm not sure.. you could ask Jelly. P:

Heh, I decided to play on MAC and see how far I can get with Amy and Eleven.

Amy:

I think everything is pretty good apart from the top. Mene doesn't have many sweaters at all, so that's a prep shirt with a basic t-shirt the right colour on top. On Mene you could improve the hair/eyes.

(I wear tights, fishnets and two pairs of socks sometimes and there's probably another layer in there somewhere)

I'll edit Eleven in if there's enough items. XD
(so far, not going so well, poor ljos if you have to work from these items)

Ha ha, it's just terrible.

Ljos: I'm exaggerating a little, but it's all made up from things I have seen in real life. I've seen a girl with a Hello Kitty face with that scripture type writing above it on her chest in Newcastle, and a zombie/bleeding Hello Kitty along with things like an evil doll on a girl's forearm while I was in Glasgow. My friends just have the generic hearts/stars/birds/flowers. -_-

Yet another thing I love about Mene: The hair and eyes are FREE.
But that outfit would still almost bankrupt me.
I think I'll save up a bit more before I spend.

The prep shirts got reduced when all those other sets were too, but I don't know how much they are now. I think I have enough items close enough to have a go at it apart from the stockings and the t-shirt. XD
(my second choice for the sleeves was the white or grey long sleeved tops which layer under pretty much everything. I think they're about 200g)

The "Lily Coat" which looks terrible on MAC but is one of the only brown jackets (other than the steampunk ones which are long and colourful) on Mene for male avatars is 3.5k. O_o

Okay, I swear I had a pair of black tights, but I can't find them anywhere in my inventory and what's more, I can't find them anywhere in the shops either. I've searched both on this account and my female one and I can't see them anywhere! D:

Really, the Lily Coat is 3.5k? I bought one ages ago, I'd forgotten it was that expensive. And yeah, I've been asking for a cool brown coat that is just that, brown, for a long time but no luck yet. I need a long one for my Ten avatar. x3

All the basic items have moved to 52 in case you need to buy another pair. My items are forever seemingly disappearing, but that's just because I can't see them when they're right in front of me.

MAC says it's 3.5k, but I know some of the prices are wrong. They're male only items so I can't see them in the shops. The pinstripe tuxedo top in but brown (and so it actually fits the male base) would be good for Ten. ^^
Edit: No it wouldn't be, and even a plain brown one would be just okay. I have no idea who I was thinking of.

No, that's the thing, I've been through 52 a dozen times and they're not there. Neither can I find them in Hot Gossip, or Hopscotch, or anywhere else. And I've been through both my inventories quite a few times and they're not there, so I must have just.. I don't know, been planning to buy a pair? It's weird.

Pinstripe tuxedo top in brown? I only see it in black and white..

Heh, I meant they should make one. When I tried to rephrase that sentence I've either missed some words out or left some unnecessary ones in.

For me Basic Black Stockings (F) are on the front page of 52. :/

Okay, I'm having to re-order and update my quest thread, and either I need a BBCode for the text I want to appear when hovering the mouse over the image, or I need to know how to work with the spoiler tags.

I'm going with the latter for now, so!
Can someone tell me how to write my own text in the spoiler header?

Oop, I thought the problem might be that they don't expand right after you've posted them but they do. They don't expand straight after you've edited a post (you have to move away from the page and go back I think) though or while you're previewing a post.
