I always forget they don't work after you've edited a post and try to open them straight away. -_-

Good luck with your questing in any case!

Ohh right yeah. I dunno, I just want a really cool, properly steampunk long brown coat. It would be so awesome. And not stockings - tights! Ones that go aaaaall the way up to the belly.

The spoiler things never expand for me when I post them unless I refresh the page.. but Kat's coding looks right, so I'm not sure why it's not working for you, Connie. :/

Heh, I typed it by hand so I was paranoid I'd put a typo in at first. XD

Um, the only tights I know that are that high on Mene are the newest fishnet type ones. MAC says they're 350g if that helps in looking.
Edit: They're actually 335g and for a female avatar they're on page 16 of Hopscotch.

Yeah, I know about them as well, but I was so sure there'd been black tights as well.. am I confusing with Gaia or something? That would be weird though, as I haven't been on there in aaaaages..

Guhh, the children's department again.. it's insaaaaaane. x___x (I actually enjoy being here more than at the counter downstairs, where people return and borrow books and need help with the machines and help with everything. It's just a little loud at times and right now there's a billion children here all running around, screaming and crying and drooling on the search computer..

There's the leggings, but they're the same length as the stockings. The jeans on Mene are rather tight though. =P
I don't use the word stockings so I always just replace it with tights. Then if you add 'hose' into the equation I have no idea.

Throw books at them. You know it's the answer.

Leggings? As in, tights without the feet? Because that would be super handy.. I can't remember ever seeing black ones, though?

Hee, hosiery. I think tights is a silly word, but I think pantyhose is an even sillier word. Though they're both quite descriptive, I guess. If I'm talking English with people who know Icelandic, I'll usually use the Icelandic word because even if it's a single word in a completely different language, it somehow manages to sound better than either of the English words. xD

Ahaha, how tempting. If only the parents weren't here, they'd rip me to pieces...
There's some good parents this time around though. There's not books littered all over the floor, as I'd expected. Some of them are actually picking up the things their kids have been throwing around. O:

Edit: Connie, working at a library is really lovely, if full of temptations..

Yeah, same as working at a craft store.
Which.
Yeah, we get a lot of screaming bratty children, and parents who let them do what they want.
Once in a while we get parents who actually know the meaning of the words 'discipline' and 'courtesy'.
But working at a craft store, besides the children, I get so many ideas for things I want to make....
If I had the money, I'd be spending my paycheck's worth every day, on all the supplies I'd need/want to do the projects in my head.

Ljos: I was thinking of the Regrets Leggings (and their pink counterpart the Cherished Leggings). They do have most of the feet though, just your toes stick out at the bottom. XD

I think this explains my confusion:
Quote:
In the United Kingdom, they [pantyhose] are called tights, a term that refers to all such garments regardless of whether they are sheer lingerie or sturdy outerwear.
(oh wikipedia, how we know you lie to us, but you're still our first port of call)
Meh, it would probably be more productive in the long run if the parents told the kids if they make a mess they have to clean it up themselves. :/

Connie, ooh, working at a craft store must be so much fun! : D

Kat: ohh.. well, they don't reach up high enough. I need something I can wear with just the jacket I'm wearing, it doesn't matter if the toes show though because I'm wearing boots. :/
And well, if the kids are too young to tidy up (we're talking babies just old enough to make a big mess and not much more), then it should be the parents who clean up.

Oh, sorry when I think of 'children' for some reason I think of 5-8 year olds (I know that's strangely specific, what do I think 9-12 year olds are?) and younger being toddlers or babies. It's annoying when a parent is clearing a child's mess without saying a word because they don't learn about responsibility. One of my friends (aged 18) isn't allowed to use an oven or a washing machine in her house. :/

I still have MAC open... the SuperStar pants? But they have a teeny bit of colour on them.
Edit: You know, the ones you're wearing right now.
(my defense is I don't use quick reply)

See, they don't even do that where I work.
If they come in with a baby in a stroller, and midway through their shopping, to shut the kid up, they give him goldfish to munch on, the kid throws some of the goldfish on the ground in a tantrum, and the parents just leave it there.
Not to mention the outright rudeness of people who don't feel like looking around for a trashcan.
You know those jarred candles with the lids?
If I had a dime for every time I've found candy wrappers stuffed inside those jars and the lid put back on . . .
And then again for every time I've found not only candy wrappers but empty and not-so-empty coffee cups, water bottles, soda bottles and various cans hidden behind merchandise --

It could make you scream.

Yeah, but usually if you can see the parents are ignorant enough to not give a toss about their kid's bratty behavior you can see where it probably came from. You just hope school/other family/seeing other people do it right will have some effect on them. I accept there are exceptions though and some people will just never learn. :/

My friend who I mentioned isn't allowed to use the washing machine because the one time she tried she made a mess of it. So her mum still does all her washing. I broke our washing machine by putting too much stuff in it, so when it was fixed my mum showed me how to use it properly. I think me and my mum win.

Kat, I can see where you're coming from with the age thing, but we get kids all ages in there, so children is a more suitable term than any other I could find. xP Of course, I would expect the kids that are old enough to clean up to do it, or at least be told to do it by their parents, but.. well, if they are that old, the parents usually just aren't there. But I don't want to be the stern, boring librarian who scolds kids for not cleaning up. >.<
Gosh, really? That is silly. And you and your mum totally win. My mum tried showing me how to work the washing machine for years, but I always forgot because I thought all the numbers and dials were so complicated. Then I moved to halls where we got super simple washing machines (insert washing powder, insert two pounds, go!) and somehow, after that, I realised that for the washing machines here, you only have to remember one setting because you pretty much always use the same one, unless it's very special material. And then I leave it for my mum to sort out. >.>
Honestly though, I've heard of people in halls that send their washing back home to be washed. Rather than use the vending machines we get. O.o

And yeah, the SuperStar pants are tight enough, but they overlap the boots. Which is why I'm trying to find something else. xP

Connie, guhh, I can imagine. We don't get too much of that, mostly because people are usually polite enough not to eat stuff in the library, but I swear I've actually found gum, stuck on a bookshelf. It's like.. what the hell? Eww!

It's just the strange way my mind works. I usually refer to anyone younger than me as 'kid', usually to annoy the 16 year olds hanging outside of clubs.

If I get into my first choice university I'll be about 3 hours (driving distance) from my house so my mum has said I'm welcome home any time I like- as long as I pay to get there. XD
One of my friends is going to stay at home, which is her choice, but she complains about how her older brother and sister still live at home in their twenties...

The setting on our old washing machine was K, and even though we've got a new one of a different brand I still do most of washing on K. The spin cycle is on now so I really should be moving the clothes from the clothes horse into the ironing basket but Mene is much more fun. -_-

Oh, that sounds pretty nice, being able to go home so easily. I'm a little bit jealous. x3

I should probably do some laundry. My parents have been away since Saturday with my youngest brother, so it's just me and my 17 year old brother here, and we haven't done any washing yet. When I go downstairs later, I'll put something in, I don't think either of us is in any dire need of clothes though.

(You're up and it's only 11? What happened to sleeping in? xD )

I should be working on my essay, but I'm not awake enough to be able to focus. Need Coke.. my brother drank the can I was saving for today.
Then again, editing pictures and listening to audiobook sounds too sweet. One more chapter.. >.>

There's no way I can afford it though. The train fare is ridiculous, the same for the coach fare and even if I could drive I couldn't afford the insurance never mind a car. My mum says she'll help pay my train fare to come home in the holidays if I want though.

My dad got up early because someone who looked after our cat was coming to give my dad his keys back, so I got up too. We've just been sitting watching Sky Sports News. Darn you Peter Crouch.

I hadn't washed the clothes I'd taken to Glasgow with me yet. The ironing can wait until tomorrow, I need to pick up some things in town this afternoon. Do some work!

Oh, that sucks then. Which university are you aiming for? Sorry if you've already told me and never mind if you're not comfortable with sharing or anything.

I forgot to do the laundry. >.> And now I'm all comfy in bed again. I've not worked on my essay at all, but I have been editing pictures, so that is work. Just.. not exactly work with a deadline.
I dunno, I can't focus on work when I'm at home, I need to go to the library to be able to focus properly and since I work there and called in sick today I can't exactly go waltzing in. xD
Also the audiobook is too exciting, I'm listening to the last chapters of the last Harry Potter book. >.>

Hee, Glasgow. That's why my mum wanted to go up there, to look around and get used to the city. I've seen the buildings before and spoke to people about the course I'll hopefully be doing before. My second choice is Keele. Nobody has any idea where it is because 'Keele' itself is a teeny village but the university is built around Keele Hall.

I put a couple of audiobooks to listen to while I was away on my iPod and didn't listen to either of them. -_-

Do some work! :illgetu:

Speaking of driving . . .
My sister just got into an accident in my car.
I don't know how I'll pay the deductible. The really crazy thing is, the damage is in the exact same spot that I had to get fixed two years ago.
The total expense for fixing it? $1,275.
I'm hoping it won't be as much this time around, and that, since my sister got the information of the person who did the damage, that person's insurance will cover the deductible as well, or the driver herself will, one or the other, as long as I don't have to.
Because after paying off a major credit card bill, I'm literally dead broke, and I don't make much getting paid barely above minimum wage and only 14 hours a week.

::wants to smack sister for taking my car::

Without my permission, mind you!

Ugh, I'm sorry to hear that about your car Connie.

I don't know if there's a difference in the way insurance works in the US. Without meaning to be rude, I hope your sister is willing to try and contribute if you do end up with a bill. At least it sounds like the other driver was civil in any case. When my dad was involved in an accident the guy who hit us yelled at me for being scared. ¬_¬

Kat: Oh, cool. My friend.. well, more of an acquaintance really, went to Keele for a year I think last year. Apparently it was very nice. Either way, I hope you get in somewhere you'll enjoy yourself. : D

I will do some work tomorrow! It's my day off then. I can't really do essay work unless I get the whole day. Or at least the first part of it. After work is too late to start for me, my brain is usually dead anyway.
Then it's one day of work on Friday (evening shift \o/) and then there's a three day weekend! :D

Connie, man, I'm really sorry to hear about the car. Hopefully you won't be the one having to take care of that bill, that would suck so much. :c *Crosses fingers for you*

Keele seems pretty unique for a university, just because it's so small and out of the way. It's like the students have a lot more stuff on campus and organise their own events more because even if you do get the bus to the nearest town there's nothing there. XD

Heh, I just like using the 'illgetu' :illgetu: smiley thing.

That's good to hear Connie. Hopefully it'll teach your sister a lesson about borrowing your car without permission too. >.<
