Honestly, I always thought the Daleks were kinda cheesy. I think they'd be scarier if they didn't have such shrill voices sometimes. Like Darth Vader. *starts petition to get James Earl Jones to voice the Daleks from now on* Just kidding. But still.
Pfft, they should have kept David Prowse's voice for Vader. If lots of planets have a North, they can have a West Country too. =P
I find the Dalek voice on the Come Fly With Me/Doctor Who BBC Christmas ident quite grating but it's probably just because it's being taken out of context.
The Slitheen seem to be less of a repetitive fart gag in The Sarah Jane Adventures but then they always seem to explode instead.
What with their robotic-ness, and the "Exterminate! Exterminate! Exterminate!"
On the one hand, the repetition gets to be cheesy, but on the other hand, they're half robots and can't be reasoned with, so their determination is kinda scary.
The 'West Country' is a nickname for an area in the south of England. It's quite a distinctive accent. There's a video of David Prowse (the man in the suit) before the audio was dubbed on youtube here.
Ah, I see. I never noticed anything different about the Daleks' accent. But that's probably because I'm not British. I doubt you'd be able to distinguish a Pittsburgh accent from a West Virginia accent. lol.
So I hopped on a steamboat named Destiny with nothing but a suitcase full of dreams and a faaaaabulous singing voice, and I said "TAKE ME TO LONDON, ENGLANDSHIRE!" so if you're watching, Your Majesty, would you do me the honor of allowing me to Nevermind your Buzzcocks?
What's The Mighty Boosh? I only just recently become acquainted with the wonderful personality and fashion sense of Noel Fielding. I saw him on Nevermind the Buzzcocks on the David Tennant episode a while back, in which I think Noel was wearing some sort of ruffly pirate shirt.
Josh has such a great sense of humor. I need to finish watching his first appearance on Buzzcocks. "APPLE PIE!"
It's a show written and staring Noel and his comedy partner Julian Barratt. it also features Richard Ayoade and Matt Berry, of IT crowd fame. It's basically a show about two very different friends who get themselves into little adventures. The only way I can sum it up is "Bizarrely Charming." Definitely give it a looksie, ok? It's probably my favourite TV show.
Ayoade is great. You should really check out Darth Marenghi's Darkplace, which he co-stared in *and* directed (and co-wrote, if I remember correctly). He does a supreme bout of terrible acting in it
I love Garth Marenghi's Darkplace. Matt Berry is brilliant in that and his and Rich Fulcher's (Bob Fossil in The Mighty Boosh) sketch show Snuff Box is very good as well.
