My mum does a much better fish impersonation. Seriously, it's awe-inspiring.

TaiyoTsuki: Please put your above post in spoiler tags. Not everyone has seen all of Torchwood. :/

Last two episodes spoilersX

I watched both of them last night, I don't know how I could've forgot about it last week, but I was pretty damn busy so there you are.
So.. Amy was a ganger? I didn't actually realise that, but I was feeling sleepy by the end of the last one. I thought that overall, they weren't too spectacular, definitely not among my favourite ones at least.. they just didn't appeal to me as much as the rest of the series so far. I thought Amy was being seriously annoying with the whole "you're not real, you're fake" thing. It's like cloning, basically, and you can't just make a new person without realising that they have feelings and a consciousness just like you.
I did love seeing the two Doctors together, finishing each others' sentences though. Fantastic. :D And I thought they might've swapped shoes earlier on in the episode, just because that's something the Doctor would do, so I went 'oh fuck' when Amy told the Doctor about him dying.
I'm insanely curious now about this whole Amy-waking-up-about-to-give-birth thing now.. where is she? And.. dun-dun-dun, whose baby is it? (I'm hoping and guessing Rory's, but there might be a plot twist behind that too..)

In other news, I think Biggles should make a gif of their mum doing the fish face and post it on here. :B My teacher in primary school had a naturally fishy face, and she would even make that movement with the mouth like fish do every now and then.

Biggles - If you make a video of it, you can turn it into a gif. I had to find a site that did that the other day... a girl Daniel went to high school with uploaded an audition video for this modeling contest, and she was clearly reading from a script and sounded really unnatural... and then inexplicably did this strange hoppy dance for no apparent reason. Daniel offhandedly said "I want a gif of that," and being the awesome girlfriend I am, I made him one. >> It's not mean because she's a bitch.

Wrong person, Taiyo.

Taiyo, no worries, just trying to keep the thread as spoiler-free as possible so people don't have to be scared to join when they haven't caught up on everything. :)

Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude.

Are you guys thinking what I'm thinking?

If you are thinking that the new Gargoyles CI would make a pretty sweet Weeping Angel cosplay, then you are.
Of course, it would be better if we were able to pose our avatars' arms. *sigh* So I guess closed eyes will have to suffice.
Is somebody gonna do this? Cuz somebody needs to. And I don't have the money just yet.

On the British Culture/American Magazine front...

While reading an Entertainment Weekly in a waiting room today, I discovered that they had a Doctor Who 101 feature a couple of weeks ago (bemoaned in letters to the editor was the lack of Eccleston coverage. Poor guy can't catch a break)
It really seems to have been assuming a presence as of late in America, methinks.

Time had a nice little blurb about Richard Ayoade's Submarine in it's latest issue, which made me want to clap happily. It's really such a smashing film, guys. It's already come out in the UK, and should be coming out tomorrow in the US, based on the majority of reports I've heard.
Also mentioned was Steve Coogan's well-received and indeed interesting looking The Trip. I've seen a review of it in the latest issue of Spin as well.

And an aside to Cherry, I saw a magazine today called Flea Market Style. Looked like it would be right up your alley.

Oh, oh! And update, look at this!

Must have this magazine. Today I picked up a really pretty retro dish set for about $3.

Here are some clips from the pilot of the aborted BBC attempt at the show:

Never got to see the pilot, these scattered clips only came to my attention sometime last year. Gonna be an oooodd show.

I'm going to add this too, as it's pertinent to our interests?

I will be sure to watch those at a time when I'm not kind of in a hurry!

Lost - You can put it basically anywhere but your signature. You could put it in the set up of a thread, if it's in context you can post it, etc. It's just that when it's in a signature it has to load sometimes multiple times per page and in every single thread you post in, and since it's big, that can be a drain on some people's computers. I know I have quite a few gifs I'd love to use... but alas.

Heh, I've seen a few of the underrated comedies. I didn't find Him and Her particularly funny despite a fondness for Russell Tovey. The only one I hadn't heard of was 15 Storeys High. Something else to add to the never-ending to watch list! This Is Jinsy looks interesting too, when I'm able to have sound (currently occupying a corner of my parent's living room) I'll watch the trailer.

I can't think of where to start with A Good Man Goes To War so I might jump back in when other people have seen it. ^^;

Ugh, I just found out that the US is on a one week delay for Doctor Who now. :/ I didn't know that since *coughIwatchitonline* but this weekend I'm at my grandparents' house. So tonight BBCA is playing The Almost People as the new episode. So I can't watch A Good Man Goes to War until I get home tomorrow. That's too long to wait! :gonk:

I've just finished watching it. I was so confused........It was a great episode though!

SPOILERX

I was wrong about River Song's parents but as soon as I heard the name "Melody" it just clicked in my head cuz of 'Song'. -bashes head against wall- Oh well. I'll admit when I was wrong.

Who else is annoyed that we need to wait until Autumn/Fall to see the next episode -raises hand high in the air

Mother was napping during Who so I may be watching it again tonight. An extra day before having to suffer long Doctor Who-less weeks...

SFX had an article about Torchwood: Miracle Day, I had a bit of flick through in the supermarket. Their interview with Russell T Davies is online here- spoilers for previous series of Torchwood and potentially spoilery for Miracle Day because they discuss the plot for the whole series as well as the premise in depth. There are even spoilers for series 7 of Buffy.

Last night I dreamt I was Amy... The dream's getting more nonsensical and hard to remember as the day goes on, but there was some frightening things going on, imminent peril, and possibly making fun of Rory. Poor Rory.

My reaction is similar to Cherry's!X

HOLY FUCK HOLY FUCK HOLY FUCK :eager:

The beginning actually made me cry.. when Amy was telling Melody who her father was. I never realised the similarities between Rory and the Doctor in that way. And Rory was such a hero! *fans self* I do love the development of his character.

I think it is fantastic to have River Song be Amy's daughter. She definitely has her flirtyness, and many other characteristics! :D I was so sure she would be somehow related to the Doctor from the past, and when she went to the cot saying she hadn't seen that in a long time, I was sure she was from the Doctor's childhood.. which I'm sure we were meant to think as well. *is sheep*

But then River is the child from the first episode of the season.. so she definitely kills him? Well, we never saw who exactly was in the suit, but still.. I can't wait to get to know what that was all about, I can't believe we have to wait till fall! I'll probably go and watch the first episode again soon to try to wrap my head around it all..

So River has always known who she is? From the minute she met Amy and Rory? ..I think I'll have to rewatch the whole of fifth series as well..

More A Good Man Goes to War spoilersX

Yeah, I got a bit annoyed by all the "talking about the Doctor... PSYCHE, IT'S RORY!" bits. Even the Doctor did it! Amy asked something about the baby and the Doctor said "It's mine," dramatic pause of confusion, then he clarified that he meant the crib. That annoyed me. But not nearly as annoying as it was when Amy really was fawning over the Doctor. Glad that she and Rory seem to be acting like a couple this season.

Here's my thoughts on River's timeline. Going to copy/paste from what I just said to someone else because typing it all again might give me a time head headache
Quote:
When the Doctor was figuring out that Melody was part Time Lord, they did a flash back to that girl in the space suit. So it's safe to assume that (at least he thinks, and when is the Doctor ever wrong) Melody is the girl in the space suit. And now we know that River is Melody. So Melody/River becomes the girl in the space suit, gets shot in 1969, escapes from the suit... finds another? kills the Doctor in 2011 (or some such date, I don't really remember, but it was contemporary) (and remember the look on River's face when she saw the astronaut? She seemed to know what was happening. Also, she's said before that she once killed "a great man"), then apparently later meets the Doctor, becomes friends/lovers with him with for some long stretch and learns his real name, then gets arrested for something? Escapes for the various adventures we've seen, before finally meeting 10 in the library, his first time ever meeting her, and she dies. "Wibbley wobbley" doesn't even cover it.

Moar spoilersX

Yeah.. it's not even just that they seem to be going opposite directions anymore (him meeting her for the first time when she meets him for the last time and vice versa).. it's all muddled up and wibbley wobbley confusing now!
But yes, River has to be the girl in the space suit, because we did see her regenerate.. and I think it's safe to assume there's no other Time Lords walking around (though I am still hoping for the Master to return! ..I just don't think he would appear as a little girl). It has been hinted at a lot of times that she is the one who kills the Doctor, too.

I really wonder what it was that she whispered to him in the episode where they first met, to make him trust her.. I hope we will find out, anyway. And I hope that at some point, Moffat will draw us fans a map of River and the Doctor's timelines, and when they met on the separate ones. I would love to see that!

What do you reckon the Doctor ran away for? What did he need to go do?

Urgh urgh urgh I really don't know how I'm going to survive waiting so long to find out what happens next! I hate cliffhangers! :(
