I had a really lovely evening last night with my youngest brother (the only other person in the family who likes Doctor Who). As everyone else had other things to do, we got some chinese food and munchies and spent the evening on the sofa, watching Tennant on our parents' massive TV. ^____^ Been so long since I saw Doctor Who on a proper screen.. we watched the final three episodes of series 3 (with the Master.. ohhh John Simm..) as well as The Girl in the Fireplace. It was funny seeing the similarities between Madame de Pompadour and Amy in that the Doctor sorts of pops in to their lives when they're little girls and becomes an imaginary friend for all their childhood and part of their adult life.
We also wondered about what would happen if Amy ever met Jack.. I think the universe would possibly explode or something. Poor Rory, for his sake I hope it never happens.
I'd noticed the similarities between Madame de Pompadour and Amy as well... Do you know if Moffat was confirmed to take over after RTD at that point or not? If not, maybe he just really wanted to explore the theme of the Doctor's timey wimeyness causing him to pop in and out over someone's life. Moffat does seem to like playing with how timey wimeyness can affect a more static person. He's playing with it again with River.
Marrying someone half your age (give or take) might just count as a cunning plan.
RTD announced he was leaving in 2008 and The Girl in the Fireplace was broadcast in 2006 but I get the impression Moffat has been working on some of his Who ideas since he started writing.
I've been watching My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic lately, and I saw that horse on the Wiki! He's way cooler than Derpy Hooves, in my opinion~ 8D
Like, he's actually in the show as any extra pony >_>
Yeah, I came across him when he was still unofficial, I guess. Kinda sad they didn't go the Tom Baker route, a la some fan art I've seen. Though I guess Tennant could be more identifiable without accessories. An afro and jelly babies aren't easy to work in.
Haha, today is some user named "Alonzo"'s birthday, so on their comment page I couldn't help but post an "Allons-y Alonzo!" I'm still chuckling over that one.
I'm not sure if I've ever been properly introduced in here.
Matt Smith was my 'first' doctor as I saw the end of the fifth season and the Christmas special (with the fish in the sky) when I was visiting my former significant other IN England. It got me intersted enough to acquire all of the "NuWho" starting with Eccleston in 2005.
I must say the 9th doctor is my personal favorite because he's the most angsty, and Rose was the best thing that ever happened to him. Born out of War, she helped him remember how to dance (and he got slapped by someone's mother for the first time in over 900 years). It was really a shame he only got one season/series.
However I think Tennant is the most attractive and was a brilliant actor, too. Now, I really enjoy the Doctor/Master dynmaic. Best Friends? Arch Emenies? Both in one? There's also alot of sadomasochism in it too, because The Master loves torturing The Doctor mentally, emotionally, and physically but of all the ample times he's had to kill him he never has and ended up saving his life, yet The Doctor always wants to forgive him, always wants to help him. He's so tired of being alone, and he's also tired of seeing those he cares about turn to dust.
I'm just now starting the 11th doctor's legacy from the beginning (the whole fifth and sixth series is 'on demand' ;) ) And I adore how Eleven tells off the Atraxi while stepping through the holograms of all of the other incarnations that came before him. Hell yeah, he can do it.
Well I'm glad you do like all 3 doctors. My boyfriend likes Martha and the 10th Doctor. Me I prefer Chris he was my first doctor and I like Rose as well. God it makes me so proud to say that lol. I mean Chris was like amazingly funny and sometimes he was just amazing period. when he said things and got all serious I absolutely loved. The Ataxi were different but I liked the Reptilians more.
I especially enjoy when I find Doctor Who Music Videos on youtube that pay homage to all three of the 'new' Doctors (9-11) equally. They are each brilliant in their own way.
I'm curious to how 11's personality traits are going to be different he's obviously still a genius, obviously still a doctor, but from what I've seen he's been mostly disoriented from his recent regeneration. (Fish fingers and custard? While the plate of white bread and butter goes flying out the door with a "AND STAY OUT!" ?)
Nine is Angsty, keeps alot to himself, and never once mentions the name of his home planet. At the end where it was to be a coward or a killer and he chose 'coward'... it is because he had seen so much killing already.
Ten remembers the the Time War but can also reminisce about Gallifrey. He's also alot less angsty in his general demeanour but when you see 'The Wrath of a Time Lord', he's downright scary, just as scary as Nine but without the leather jacket and buzzcut hair, which in a way makes him just a hair scarier, because it's not just the appearance, it's him.
