I haven't been on Gaia in ages.. not since they started making you have to pay real money for pretty much all the new items they were releasing. e____e Even though they were shiny as fuck, I realised it was sucking my money away.. for pixels. So I stopped going there. I'm only active on Mene now.

Yup. And you kinda have to get the expensive items or people will treat you as a lesser person or something, lol. Noobs are given more respect around here, so there's altogether less of an emphasis on real-cash items. Besides, you dont have to pay to use the exchange system!! :D

Gaia are pretty big on the random item generators, as soon as one finishes they bring a new one out. When there are new commons now the prices are stupid. It would be like Mene bringing out a set where a basic t-shirt suddenly cost 2k.

I just meant when Gaia bring out a set of commons now sometimes a dress might cost 30k when they are dresses of an equivalent quality in the store for a more reasonable price like 3k or less.

If that happened on Mene (I'm not saying it will, it was just an example) it would be like a basic t-shirt which would be 150g suddenly being a hugely inflated price like 2k.

Bah. I was never too active in the forums on Gaia anyway, especially not around the time I quit, so it was easy. Mene is a lot friendlier, it's what I like the most about it. And because of the no spam policy, it's easier to find people to converse with that aren't just posting in lolspeak or whatever.

Ah, I see now. Yeah, their prices are pretty ridiculous. Everyone says it's so hard to earn gold on Mene, because Gaia's handing out "gold for surfing" and "Daily Chance" and "gold for joining" etc. Theyre currency is worth a lot less, though.

Yeah, it is a lot easier to earn gold on Gaia, so maybe it's no wonder their prices are so high. I prefer to earn gold on Mene, where you have to work a bit more for it. If it's so easy like on Gaia, it just becomes boring.

I actually find it easier to buy things on Mene. The prices on Gaia have been adjusted for the people who have aquariums giving them a million gold a week or who are selling expensive cash items for gold rather than the average user. :/

What do the aquariums do, anyway?

Mostly people use them for 'Booty Grab'. The owner of the tank gets gold equivalent to a quarter of whatever the person playing on their tank wins. So the more gold your tank gives out, the more gold you earn. Obviously it's the expensive fish (which are all cash items) which give out the most gold and cause the game to be triggered the most often.

Mine just has hermit cats and free decorations from Daily Chance in it. ^^;

So to be able to afford any cool stuff on Gaia, you have to invest either all your time in it, or all your RL money. Sounds great. *rolls eyes*

I got sick of the message in a bottle thing after about a week, it doesn't work properly. A lot of the time I would get only one answer (despite answering bottles with tonnes of answers) and even know it would be spam I'd have to pick it. ¬_¬

I was on Gaia for a really, really long time because I was involved with a long running RP thread that had the best pair of GMs, in my experience. After that a friend of mine opened a charity and the RP group camped out in her thread for ages. My biggest frustration with Gaia is that I feel that the administration lost sight of Gaia's purpose once it started becoming really popular and had the ability to make money. My partner and I do go back to Gaia for the game zOMG but hey.. who can beat a free MMO that has benefits for your forum avvy?

Part of the reason I was willing to try out Mene was because of the higher standards that the users are held to. (The no spamming policy for example.) Easy gold isn't fun gold.

You can get items from playing Booty Grab and the Overseer has a tendency to pass out lame-esque items. Some of them are neat but I've received them so many times from the Overseer I just sort of wrinkle up my nose anymore. :sweat:
