Heh, well I'll amuse myself playing with white text and spoiler boxes regardless. You can invade London all you like ladies, I'll be safe up North. ("Lots of planets have a North!")
If you really like spoilers, there's pictures from the filming of The Waters of Mars floating about the internet and a lot of speculation about them. Here is one link, I was looking at more pictures last night but I have no idea where. ^^;
Too many plot holes... that why I watch intelligent shows only.
And of course, Doctor Who doesn't have any plot holes because, well, he's a time traveller and the Time War messed everything up. So even if we think we see a gazillion plot holes all the time, they are not actually plot holes, just.. uhm.. changes made by the Time War?
Like the Doctor's age. He says one thing in the classic series somewhere and then in the new series he's suddenly younger (in years, not only appearance). Which is probably the one plot hole hardest to explain by that reasoning above..
Annette, you do make a good point about Jenny wanting to travel on her own. It would be quite fun seeing her every now and then though, either as a sort of an assistant to the Doctor (as in both of them investigating the same thing, like how he meets up with his old companions etc.) or in a spin-off series. Because she was a very fascinating character and we only got a very limited amount of time to get to know her at all.
About post-Doctor MarthaX
Also, I think Martha had to face it in the end that the Doctor would never be hers and she is a strong character. I can imagine her being the type to be fairly quick to move on in that kind of situation. And she didn't get engaged immediately anyway, or I don't think so. Really looking forward to seeing series 3 and 4 again...
And yes, the 4th series came out in November last year but for some reason, every time I go to HMV, the Doctor Who box sets are always among the first things I look at and I haven't seen it anywhere. I can't believe it's still permanently sold out... the other box sets are on offers now, and they're always all in.
I'm afraid this thread is always going to be a spoiler for some. I guess people should always be careful when talking about the death of a character or some major plot turns and twists, but people do read this at their own risk. *sigh* You can never please everyone.
Huh, my memory is absolutely rubbish as well, as everyone that knows me at all will tell you.. three Doctor Who fans and all of them with rubbish memory? Is there a link? *Puts on Crazy Conspiracy Theories hat*
I will not be in London this summer, though my boyfriend probably will (oh, the irony..), I'll tell him to watch out for Doctor Who crazy Yanks. :Ž
I recommend going to Earl's Court Road, where the TARDIS usually looms. :D
I get he distinct feeling (and I think I heard it as a truth somewhere...) that he has a habit of lieing about his age and is actually a hundred years older than he says he is... When it comes to appearance, it just seems that he's slowly getting younger and younger. Maybe the twentieth doctor will be a time travel six year old! XD If the Doctor even has that many regenerations...
On the topic of Jenny, I vote spin-off or obnoxious reoccurring character/stalker because she's just that cool. Jenny as the Doctor's assistant would be totally awesome, but I just don't think the character would go for it. So sad... T^T But then again, traveling time is cool, so maybe she'd want to travel around with her dad who I think never did get the memo she was still alive... 0.o Unless I'm forgetting something, that is.
Martha is a strong female character, so I guess she'd have to pick up the pieces eventually. Anyways, if she made any serious moves on the doctor, I'm sure Rose would return with the big guns, regardless of how the plot tied up with her.
I'll keep the place in mind, though it's a school trip so the teachers will be sticklers about just where we can and can't go. =.= But it's not like there are many people on the trip, and the teacher is nice so we may be able to get a little lee way. I hope... If not I'll just go on a killing rampage or something. >:-D I heard Baby has a branch in Paris so I'll have that to look for as well. Yay~ Lolita and the Doctor all in one trip. I hope.
Haha maybe. There is an old rule the producers I think made up spontaneously that says the Doctor does keep getting younger with every regeneration - he started out as William Hartnell and did get younger continually, with perhaps the exception of Peter Davison, who was just a little bit older than Matt Smith when he started portraying the Doctor.
There is also a Gallifreyan rule stating each Time Lord has only 13 regenerations. However, it is not quite sure if that rule still exists since Gallifrey no longer exists and it was a rule the Master was able to break, so it seems it was more of a law than a biological thing.
But there is the question of how much longer he can keep getting younger, seeing how young Matt Smith is, he will be a teenager when he reaches his last generation.
I don't think the Doctor is aware of Jenny's existance, no. After all, he had left already when she awoke, hadn't he? Though I wouldn't be surprised if he could somehow sense her somewhere out there, seeing how she's part Time Lord and part him and everything. Or.. isn't she full Time Lord? So would she get to regenerate as well? Hmm.
Haha yeah.
Spoilers for last episodes of fourth seasonX
I didn't like how they brought her back at first because I just wanted it to be finished with. It was hard to see them separated, but some things have to be hard and I thought that was one of those things. It was easier when they explained how and why she came back and giving her story a closure with the Tenth clone was, I'll admit, very satisfying. Still bittersweet because Tenth ended up being more alone than ever before. :(
Do try! It's right outside Earl's Court tube station (it has two exits so be sure to exit on Earl's Court Road) although I'm not sure there's anything else at Earl's Court worth stopping for.. it's mostly hotels and residential area I think.
I thought it was thirteen, just couldn't remember exactly where I pulled the number from... Thirteen regenerations as a law would make sense. After all, without putting limit, then a time lord could essentially live forever, except for that little thing about getting younger visually... I'm pretty sure the Doctor might just ignore it if it's only a rule. Afterall, he is the last of the timelords unless Jenny really is full time lord, then she can just fill his shoes if he kicks the bucket for good. Which I somewhat doubt will happen.
I think I liked how the ditched Rose the first time much better. Far more dramatic and a beautiful ending to the whole deal, I must say. I'll have to make sure to at least attempt at making a stop at Earl's Court Road for sure.
Yeah, I don't really know what the producers are thinking with making him younger and younger. I mean, they must know about the getting younger uh, rule, but are they following that or marketing instincts? And are they thinking ahead at all with this? They must realise Matt Smith will not last forever in the role and if they are going to going to keep this up.. I mean, have the actually planned this through? Hmm.
At the moment it looks like these shows will keep on being super popular for quite some time still, so I don't think we're going to have to worry about the Doctor dying any time soon.
And yes, I agree. End of Season 2 was.. heartbreaking, but wonderfully heartbreaking. If that makes sense.
Wonderfully music and a wonderful conclusion~ Yeah, the season two end was quite fantastic.
Doctor Who has lasted all this time, so I don't think it's running any risk of loosing popularity soon... Maybe in Australia and the States if the broadcasting stations don't get their buns in gear, but I don't think that'd be too much of an issue. Maybe they'll just do something incredibly dramatic like some sort of big cheese fest when he reaches the last regeneration. Make it seem like he's going to kick the bucket and pull something out of their rears. (They have been going through doctors fast with the new series, haven't they?)
As far as the daughter goes, I'd say she's at least 90% Time Lord, considering they used all of the Doctor's DNA to clone her into being, but they had to insert something from the humans on her planet in order to imprint the DNA.
So.. I think, if it's possible, that she may have a slightly shorter life-span than Daddy?
And yeah, without knowing anything about the Easter special or the newest episodes/pilots, I have to agree with those who are saying that it seems she'd rather travel and explore on her own. I mean, if you suddenly had the chance to do that, would you want your parent breathing down your neck?
Thought not.
Edit: And about the Rose thing. I rather liked the ending she got. No one wants to spend the rest of their life pining for the one person they can never have, always finding something lacking in all the partners they settle with. Ultimately having that one happiness... That's the best thing in the world. I wouldn't want it any other way.

Ah, but though it was sad, her first ending was still great in a bittersweet. Not great for her, but wonderfully as an episode~ When it comes to an ending actually being good for the character then yes, Roses second ending was much better for her.
Kidalana says that she agrees with my theory that a Time Lord's regenerations are a combination of genetics and learned abilities, but I think they might have something to do with Gallifrey. If they were some sort of a gift or something from the higher-ups, then that could explain why there is a set number of regenerations and how the Master was able to obtain more. It also explains why Jenny, cloned from nothing but time lord, didn't regenerate when she kicked the bucket in the first place and had to come back by other means. So I'd say that, even if she doesn't have regenerations, she still has regenerative potential and is still 100% time lord.
Because new Doctor isn't showing in the US?
Far as I'm concerned, stuck with only basic cable, Doctor isn't showing at all, reruns or otherwise.
::sniffs again over the loss of Tennant::
Mmm. I figured the thread probably wouldn't be very alive while Doctor Who is on hiatus. Though perhaps I anticipated people coming here to satisfy their addiction for a little while by talking about the show. :P
And no Doctor going on here either, so we're all in the same boat. Just waiting eagerly for the Torchwood series.
Hehe, they're kinda cute but I have waaaaaaay too much stuff already. I would be interested if they were like really really really well done, but they don't seem to be, so meh.
Ah, before I clicked the link I was expecting it to be those cute little ones. The Slitheen looks bemused.
I used to have a Ten action figure (mainly for the jokes about playing with David Tennant) and it came with a teeny sonic screwdriver. I've lost him though, and I don't want to pay full price for a new one.
Might be tempted to get one of these though. =P
These small ones are... interesting. xD "Hurr, playing with David Tennant". You naughty. I want a sonic screwdriver though! With sound effects! Pew pew pew!
Aww, Ianto. My friend loves him so much, he always starts drooling when Ianto appears on screen. (And shouts loudly or cries if Ianto is in trouble, etc.)
Heh, I'll have to rake through my cupboards tomorrow and see if it's hiding in there somewhere. The sonic screwdriver torches look fun. I once threatened to get a bluetooth headset and a water pistol and run around hitting myself in the ear and shouting "JAAACK!" so if I had a sonic screwdriver I would probably take it into sixth form and get beaten up and attack people with it.
I used to leave my friend myspace comments in the form of "Ianto Jones's Diary". I've never read/seen Bridget Jones's Diary though, so I made most of it up.
Okay, I've passed through the denial stage.
I'm ready for phase three of withdrawal.
BUT I SHALL NEVER RECOVER!!!
I refuse to.
Just you watch, though. By the time 2010 rolls around you'll see me in here hitting my head on my desk, drooling and mumbling, face nearly glued to the computer screen while staring slightly cross-eyed.
::jabs at DVD wishlist::
Hahaha! You're both crazy. xD
At times like this I'm glad for my terrible memory. I'm able to forget about New Doctor Who for as long as I need to. Anyway, as I only started watching last fall, I've never actually had to follow it on TV until now, so I'm quite used to just having the DVDs.
I only watch it on TV so if it's not on then I don't see it. Simple as that really. They sneaked the Easter special out without much warning, and Torchwood must be pretty imminent so hopefully that'll get sneaked out soon.
One of my friends used to buy all the DVDs that come out with three episodes on during the series. I wish I had that money to waste. -_-
I wouldn't want to buy that. Takes up way too much space! And it doesn't look nearly as pretty as the shiny box sets. I'm looking forward to Torchwood. And until then, if I need Doctor I haven't seen before, there's always the classic series! :3
