Today, where I live at least, we are going to be voting on whether or not slot machines should be placed in our county. The money made from the slot machines would be going towards education.
I think that this is wrong. People gamble their way out of house and home and some of these people might be the parents of the very children that this money would be "for". How are you going to tell a child that the only way his/her parent donated to the school and their education was through gambling? How is promoting gambling (as much as they say that it isn't, some people have no self control) going to help anyone? It just spreads crime and makes people poorer. I know that this would generate a lot of money for education, but at what cost? We should be helping people with their gambling addictions instead of tempting them. They are only human. So I am going to be voting no to slots today.
I was wondering what other people might think of this matter.
Do you think imputing slot machines would be a good idea or a bad idea?
