Alright. I play EQ2.

There are a few things that bother me about this game.

1) If you're not in a guild, you're generally treated as though you have the plague.
2) If you join a guild, end up not liking it, then leave to try another guild, you tend to be deemed a 'guild hopper' by the people in your previous guild and they tend to treat you badly.
3) A lot of people won't help you with quests if you aren't in their guild.

I've asked people I know who play other MMOs, and they say that that's pretty much how it is in most of them.

Have you ever experienced problems like this? What do you think about people refusing to help you with a quest just because you're not in the same guild?

Discuss: The good things and the bands things regarding guilds in MMOs.

Your expecting good social skills from your average MMO player?

Not to be rude but your setting the bar a little high for that, most people that go on mmorpg's do it for PvP or grinding for bragging rights. You cant expect them to be socially graceful. to them its a game and they normally dont care about other people that they dont know personally .... hey way this sounds like r/l XD

Anyways i try to be helpeful on mmo's but just remember 80% of your general population on those things are out for #1 and dont care about anyone but themselves or guild members.

Yeah, I really get angry in MMOs when people call me noob just because my damage isn't nearly as high as theirs. Seriously, the game is for enjoyment, not for yelling at others...

And since I don't spend >9000 hours in front of the computer, and my knowledge of the game is somewhat limited...I get called noob. Sometimes by "noobs" who are just jealous that they've lost in a contest against me or something.
