I've been wondering and I want to know what calms people down, for me it's music it lets me express my feelings currently. For other people it is drawing and reading etc.
So people what calms you down?
Debate:
What calms you down
Why?

I'm usually a fairly calm person throughout the day. I'm fairly laid back. On the rare occasions where I get stressed out, it's singing along to really loud music (which I can only do if everyone else is out of the house as my singing is bad). Spending time with my dog. He's always seems so happy to see people that it makes any anger and stress vanish for a while. If things get really bad, I sleep. I'm quite lucky that however bad things get I can switch off when my head hits the pillow. Things usually seem a lot better after a long sleep ^.^

I agree sleeping s a good way to relieve stress, I had a bad day yesterday and listening to one song Demonology and Heartache by Atreyu and that inspired my username.

Spacing out while listening to music calms me down. I usually spend at least half an hour a day just spacing out before winding down to go sleep or something.

Sleeping calms me because I can close my eyes and forget everything.
Writing calms me because there is no better feeling than that of accomplishment, and I have several writing projects that I am working on.
Music calms me down because I can concentrate on singing and listening to the beat.
Research calms me because I am naturally a curious person and I like finding out new things.
Balancing Ionic and Molecular compound equations calms me down because I love math and chemistry and doing those equations keep my focus off my troubles of the day.

Shadowboxing calms me down a lot, especially if I'm angry at someone. Then I imagine I'm beating that person up :|
If I can't do that though, doodling or listening to music is another way for me :)

What calms me down depends on what kind of day I've had.
If I've had a fairly useless day, in which I feel like I haven't accomplished much of anything, doing something productive calms me; usually something art/craft in nature, like cross-stitching or knitting.
If I've had a hectic day surrounded by people, just sitting by myself and doing something I enjoy calms me; playing online for a little while, or reading.
If I'm angry or upset, music helps. I put my headphones on, turn the volume all the way up so I can't hear anything else, and just listen to my MP3 player for awhile. This is what I do when I feel like I can't cope and just need a break.

I rarely get truly stressed out, but when I do, there are only three things.
Actually, four:
Music, The Internet(especially forum sites like this), The Sims, and a nice long bath with a good book.

I usually log on to Maple Story and beat up some snails. ;D
Either that, or listen to a favorite CD and fall asleep after eating a chicken sandwich. <3

Normally after i have a long day i just like to flop down on the couch and veg out, or perhaps i occupy myself with a game XD (Like on the xbox) But now that i live with my BF i can just snuggle up with him or play games with him (we're both gaming nerds LOL ) to be quite honest, i would be perfectly content going to a movie theatre as a calming experience XD i love movies and seeing things on the big screen always leave me feeling warm and fuzzy inside.
Perhaps thats why i used to work/manage at a movie theatre, and i got free tickets, so my friend and i would see like...every movie each week! It was so much fun <3
I do spend most of my time on the computer though and while it can be relaxing for me it can also be stressful like say if the internet goes out or it something starts screwing up on my computer. And since i play MMORPGs that means i spend a lot of time around other people and in turn, get very pissed off by them too XD;

I'll do one of a few things.
Read, shower, have a moan to myself, or a friend if there's one around, or listen to some mood music.
Depending upon whats induced the stress, sometimes i read some Runes, Tarot or Oracle card spreads. They help settle my mind.

Some days I am just so stressed out I can't thing straight. No matter how I always find a way to calm myself. I would have to say the best way to relax would be coming home to my baby girl. Her happy smiling face always make me feel so calm and puts a smile on my face.

I calm myself by sleeping, taking my mind off things by amusing myself with anything interesting like movies, music, the internet, doodling or just reading books.
This would go on for hours. I could get really absorbed in them that any stressful things are instantly forgotten.

After a stressful day of school, I like to just go to my car and pop in a nice chill CD into the stereo. And sometimes I'd just drive around while listening to this music instead of heading straight home. A few times I've gone to the park and just read a book in my car. I dunno, I just really love my car. Whenever I'm behind the wheel, I feel like my troubles and worries are left in the dust. (:

If I'm ending a stressful day, I usually have a couple beers, some Bailey's or a few shots of rum, then I play guitar and write music or load up Doom for a bit before I go off to bed. I'm starting to get more relaxed now though, trying to keep my anxiety attacks from flaring up again.

My dogs help me calm down, especially my Golden Retriever, Pogo. He's just so big and soft and quiet. It helps alot just to sit by him, sling my arm over his shoulders and rest my head on him. He's such a gentleman about it, too, he just sits there quietly and lets me lean on him. Listening to music helps me, too, if it's the right kind of music for the mood I'm in. Reading helps me wind down, and so do white mochas, if I am so lucky as to get them. Going for a walk on the nature trail can help, too. Um... sometimes I like to write or draw, and convey my feelings that way. I can get them out, so they aren't bottled up inside by doing that. Laughing, that also! :D Anything that makes me laugh helps me wind down.
I have lots of things that calm me down, I guess... But that's all right, no? More options, I suppose.

Many things tend to calm me down. Tea, music, writing, reading, drawing, surfing the net, thunderstorms (they tend to do it better), adn well a lot of different things. I have a friend who actually does yoga. Do not get me wrong I have no issue with such thing, I just can't bring myself to do it. Though I do tend to meditate a little more than many others. Certain scents tend to help as well.

Very loud music and a bath with stress relief bubbly bath. Sometimes cuddling my kitty helps or playing boxing on Wii but I over did that one last time my shoulders hurt for 2 days XD.
